If you like extremely violent video games...you'll like it...which really is frightening to think of what kind of mind would actually like this movie. I went with my husband, and I usually don't care for this type of action movie, but I thought this one was great! Stallone & Jason were great together and Jet Li was great as well! There was a chemistry between the actors that made it very enjoyable. Stallone did a great job of directing this movie. It deserves 5 stars!

With this many action stars, this is a surprisingly bad movie. It showcases Stallone and his "dramatic acting" abilities while completely wasting Jet Lee and Jason Statham.
The script was bad, the directing even worse. Eric Roberts made a terrible bad guy. Action was OK, but interrupted by long, moody pauses. This movie should have been directed by a real action movie director, not a self-promoting aging star.

I guess being the father of a Navy SEAL has made me a bit jaded. The military execution was laughable.
I'm sorry - pistols just don't sound like shotguns. Then there was the grenade that rolled into the foreground - but the explosion was triggered from the left side of the screen. And what was up with the hockey-puck explosive charges that were magically slapped to any porous, rough surface and produced an unrealistic explosive force? Another question - the bad guys had attack helicopters, but they were never dispatched to chase down the lumbering pontoon plane as Stallone & company unrealistically strafed the harbor.
But wait, there's more...
The tough-guy talk was unrealistic, the film editing was pathetic. Middle school musical productions pack more acting talent than these seasoned veterans combined.
Stallone's character was nauseatingly stereotypical. Tough, silent type who is drawn into mortal danger after a chance encounter with a very average-looking chick. He impulsively sets off on a suicide mission to rescue her. He magically locates her and dispatches the thugs who are on the verge of raping her. She lives through a barrage of staged explosions and a hail of bullets. Of course, the arch-villain (ex-CIA, of course) holds a gun to her head in the climactic arc of the farcical mission. And of course, Stallone dispatches him without harming the woman. An added plus: an over-sized Bowie knife cuts through the guy's spinal cord, internal organs and protrudes 12 inches through his breastbone to the audience's delight. And of course, when the chick gets vulnerable, the tough guy turns away from her without so much as a peck on the cheek, presumably to set off on the next implausible mission.

I went to see this movie with 5 women all over 40, all with college degrees and kids. We were dying to see it and it didn't disappoint!! Action, guns, knives, explosions, hot guys (yes, still hot!), more action, bigger guns, longer knives, what's not to LOVE???!!! Anyone who went for the plot is probably too young to remember these guys in the 80's. The movie was called the Expendables, not Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants! AWESOME!!!

My wife & I, along with two of our boys went to see this show with a reference in mind of who all the actors are; action heroes. Stallone tends to wear his heart on his sleeve and this movie was no exception. Think of the movies all of these guys have done in the past and you get exactly what you expected; a fun fast paced action thriller. This movie delivered exactly what we had expected and more; it even had some witty, funny lines. Hey, Mickey Rourke produced tears! Bad ass fire power and boy meets girl and rescues girl. In the end I think people have to cut themselves some slack and just relax, have fun and be honest. This was a fun movie and we all enjoyed it very much…go and see it if you like action movies.
If you know who these actors are and don’t like the kind of movies they do, then why go and see this show and then write a bad review? It’s not a bad movie; it’s just not the kind of movie for you. I wouldn’t recommend this movie for people who are uptight.

Once you accept the fact that Stallone wrote the plot then you settle in to a suprisingly fast-moving no-thinking action flick with cameos from all your favorite shoot-em-uppers. A couple witty lines speckle the bullet-ridden plot. Adjust your expectations and you'll find something that nicely accompanies your popcorn and soda.

Went to this one for my husband, not expecting much and both of us were disappointed! Time for Sylvester to give it up... and this was the dumbest writing and dialog we've ever heard. Really stupid movie!

Not much in the character development or plot category, but the action and deluge of testosterone was enough to make up for its lack of finesse.
I enjoyed watching the heroes of my youth interact in a modern day setting. No corny catch phrases or pseudo-morality. Just a bunch of operators kickin' butt.
Not plausible, but a lot of fun.

I went in to this movie with low expectations and was disappointed. It was full of testosterone and action but lacked good writing. It was cliche in every way and the only parts that were funny were some of the unbelievable action sequences. I give it 1 grenade out of a possible 5.
