The theater space must have been expendable.

I went in to this movie with low expectations and was disappointed. It was full of testosterone and action but lacked good writing. It was cliche in every way and the only parts that were funny were some of the unbelievable action sequences. I give it 1 grenade out of a possible 5.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I Wouldn't Call Them Losers

This is a solid action/comedy film with a formulaic yet entertaining plot. It's not intended to be anything more than it is, fun. I give it 3 explosions out of a possible 5.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Hot Tub Laugh Machine

This movie is hilarious from start to finish. It's story is half "Back to the Future," half "The Hangover." It even includes the acting talents of Crispin Glover who was one of the stars of the aforementioned 80s classic. This is easily one of the funniest movies I have seen in close to a year, but if you don't appreciate crude and sometimes tasteless humor you might become uncomfortable at times. Overall, I give it 4 out of 5 wine coolers.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I Loved The Fourth Bourne Movie

This is a fast-paced and gritty conspiracy film with strong similarities to the Bourne movies which is easy to understand when you consider that the director, lead actor and some of the themes are the same. With this said, it's still very enjoyable, and has a sense of realism that delivers an immersive experience. The acting is believable, and the use of hand-held cameras is completely appropriate in conveying what almost feels like a documentary. I give it 4 out of 5 empty WMD sites.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

A Trip You Might Want To Take

This movie is beautifully executed, but suffers from what a lot of fairly tales brought to the big screen do: a thin plot. In fact, it would be better with 20 fewer minutes. The acting and visual effects are believable, and fit perfectly with the story. And, it masterfully simulates what a dream might look and feel like. But, in the end it could have been better with a bit of careful editing.
I give this movie 3-1/2 mushrooms out of 5.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The acting, cinematography and art direction were well done, but some judicious editing was what this movie lacked. There were also a couple of points where the story didn't make sense. It was clear why it was done that way, but certainly not the best storytelling. I'm sure that when a director like Scorsese wants something a certain way, very few people question it. In fact, I believe this movie could be suffering from a case of The-emperor-has-no-clothes disorder.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

All Growl and No Bite

I went into this movie with low expectations and it lived up to them.
I would have given this movie 1 star, but the set design and art direction were well done.
The writing in this movie was both cliche and just plain dumb. I almost started laughing at certain points in the movie, because of some of the lines were so overly dramatic.
This movie also suffered from not knowing if it was going to embrace the full camp that the original movies did, or go more serious.
I have one word for the writers/director/editor, "clarity". There were times when I said to myself, that line was far too ambiguous for anyone to understand.
Bottom line: I wouldn't even recommend it as a rental.

Gibson gives his best performance since Braveheart. In fact, his character is fondly reminiscent of Harry Callahan.
This is a very entertaining movie with a couple of small plot errors, but if you're not paying attention you might miss them. However, if you're looking for Oscar material keep looking. This is an adrenaline-inducing but somewhat formulaic film, and the Academy is not going to be considering it for any award.
If you enjoy a good police/conspiracy drama with a sprinkling of vigilantism then you'll probably really like this movie.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

A feel good movie that's regrettably forgettable. It has it's moments, but I wish there were more of them. Acting was fine. Storyline is true to a degree. But it was missing that special spark that makes a movie great.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Somewhere Between Good and Great

After all the hype, I was slightly underwhelmed, but with that said, I would still recommend this movie. It was masterfully made, and had a strong (albeit heavy-handed) theme about coexisting peacefully with the environment. Wasn't too happy about not having the option to see the movie at my local theater without 3-D. Don't think it's necessary.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
