This was a great movie!!! I'm glad to see the subject matter addressed with the boldness presented. I pray that this will serve as a wake up call to those who abuse and those who are abused. We need more problems addressed in this hard core way to make those of us who live sheltered lives to become more aware of the challenges many face. This movie woke me out of my middle class stupor pretty quickly. This is raw, no holds bar, gut renching stuff. Although it had potential to fall into some sort of stereotype about inner city life, it instead crosses all socioeconomic boundaries with its subject matter, the transformation of the central character and hope that finally emerges in an embattled yet unshakable form. Go, but be forewarned, this a brutal yet convincing movie about someone who is not only given nothing, but practically has it all taken away before she's 16. I say practically, only because she has something in her that sees through everything that tries to destroy her. This is a convincing allegory of good being triumphant over evil.

This movie is very good. I would recommend everyone to read the book first to get a better understanding of the movie and some of the glossed over details. I hope movie viewers look at the postive nature of the movie and do not harp on the unfortunate incidents that occured to Prescious. The reality is that this is a taste of real life, Prescious may be a fictional character, but the events are ALL REAL. Let's leave this movie with more patience, love, and support for one another. Let us also be more vocal and active when we witness real life bad things. All this to say, a must see tasteful movie.

I thought the movie was pretty good. I took my teenage daughter because I wanted her to see how blessed she was and what a really bad mom looked like. So many of our teens are confused about what a bad life is and when they face adversity they don't know how to handle it. I did not read the book but thought the movie was pretty good.

This movie was true to the novel. I read the book first. The movie was a watered down version of the book (that is a good thing). I do not think I could have stood to watch the movie if it were as detailed as the book. Overall the movie was good. I just do not watch this type of movie due to the story line. Many are skeptical about the graphic nature or absurdities of violence, sexually explicit material, and vulgarities present in the film, but they are all forgotten when you look at the big picture. Prior to attending the screening, I read the book which goes into much more details than the movie, so I was mentally prepared. Overall, I believe this movie will touch the hearts and souls of people everywhere, especially young people, who may be going through similar tribulations. It's an awesome inspiration to "PUSH" and to keep going!

This is a must see movie; however, I suggest that you read the book first to have a better understanding of exactly how Precious felt and to truly understand what she went through in regards to her abuse. It’s very sad that this child had a child for her father of all people in 1987 and no one stepped in to intervene on her behalf. It is disheartening to say but society failed this child I can’t believe that no one thought to remove her from the home and save her from her abusers

'Precious' is a heart-felt movie that had me laughing one minute and minutes later crying. Gabourey Sidibe and Mo'Nique did a remarkable job in their roles. The roles were so believable that I felt compelled to reach out and help Precious, yet wanting to take a bat to Mo'Nique. I enjoyed the movie overall. I describe it as a very intense movie with a lot of insight into the life of not just Precious, but more people than most others realize. I was a little let down at the end with so many possibilites to the outcome, but good ending all the same. Mariah Carey was AMAZING!!! Very different roll for a diva like her, but very well played roll in the movie!!! I would recommend to my family and friends.

I read the book first and went in with the assumption that the movie wouldn't do the book justice. I was wrong!......The movie stayed true to the story line and content of the book. I also like the fact that even though the subject matter was serious, there were also parts that lighten the intensity of the movie through laughter. The actors were exceptional. New comer Gabourney Sibide performed better than many seasoned actresses and Mo'Nique showed everyone just how versitile she could be. Overall, an excellent movie!!!

"Precious" lives up to its name and is a precious, moving movie. The actors all did a great job in portraying their characters, and I felt empathy for each one. The ending left me off balance, though, and I waited for screen notes to tell me what happened to Precious and her children.

I waited 3 weeks for this movie to premier in my area and I have the say it was well worth the wait!!! Mo'Nique did an excellent job in this film as did new comer Gabourey Sidibe. It was raw and telling of the hardships faced by many of our youth (regardless of color) today. I loved that it touched on many aspects such as: verbal and, physical abuse as well as molestation, illiteracy, obesity, and self image issues. I enjoyed it thoroughly. The ending is just what it should be although some may leave wishing for a more happy outcome. This movie will inflict a variety of emotions. It is truly one of the best films this year!!

I went to see this movie alone and was the last person to leave the theater. I was left utterly drained and speechless from this movie. Someone mentioned in another review that at times, it was like watching "Passion of the Christ" - the scenes were so painful and downright out of the scope of human sensibility that you had to watch through your fingers. There were many times that the audience gasped all at once followed by utter silence. The movie was powerful, and easier to watch due to the light-hearted interludes. Definitely a must see for all. Precious' pain was deep and she was a suvivor. Go and see this movie NOW!

This movie will leave you speechless. This movie was excellent, the acting was superb. Gabby, Monique even Mariah were completely believable. This movie will touch the hardest of hearts. This move made me cry more than I did for the Color Purple or Passion of the Christ. I felt so remorseful for ever complaining about anything and so thankful for everything yet empathetic for anyone whose childhood could be even half as horrific as this one. Everyone needs to see this movie especially mothers and daughters. This movie was worth every penny and every minute. The theater was left in a still silence.

I thought this was a very powerful movie and should be seen by all mothers. Unfortunately, we have all seen at one time, mothers talk down to their children (especially young mothers). This movie is an example of the outcome of such parenting skills (or lack of). It was real life for many children that has been subject to abuse in their childhood. I can only pray that the message in this movie will be a wake up call to mothers, and create courage to seek help for those in need of it.
