It was "real" in depicting what really goes on right under our noses and we never know. Outstanding film, but would someone tell me what ignorant parents are doing taking small children to a movie like this? The epitome of selfishness is taking kids to a movie that may influence how they speak and how they act, not to mention being exposed to images they may never forget. this was a very interesting and moving movie. my adrenaline pumped most of the time. brilliant acting by all. I was perturbed by the laughing in the audience though... (?) Also, that there were very young children in the theatre (?) The profanity was shocking even to me, must have been traumatic to a small child.

Coming from Tyler Perry and Oprah, I really expected more, and something better. Too much bad language, could have left the molestation scene out (that was a given...understood...and spoken about in the movie...). I know this was to portray real life and what she went through and what she had to overcome, but it was depressing and too dark, and story could have been told and expressed thru the movie without all that, and would have been "eye-opening". It was depressing. I have heard similar comments from others that saw the movie.

I thought the movie was very well-done. I especially liked the scenes throughout the story in which Precious mentally escapes. The acting was outstanding. I guess the reason I would not recommend it to a friend is because when I walked out of the theatre, I felt awful. I knew a little bit about the story but did not expect the movie to be so depressing. I wanted more of the upside of the story instead of the playing out the horror of her life.I don't know that it could have been done that way.

I loved this movie........I feel that this story was intense in every aspect. Some people can handle it and some can't over all I feel that this gives a inside feeling to those who don't realize that there are precious girls out there whether you want to believe it or not and we should help and understand these ladies. This movie was just disappointing to me. It exemplified every black stereotype ever known to man. The big, fat, black, unattractive black woman that no one loves and no one will ever love. Two beautiful black woman who don't want a traditional lifestyle. That's fine, but even in her moment of normalcy, she still isn't seeing what a healthy man/woman relationship looks like. I can only speak for about an hour into the movie since my husband and I left very early. I just can't believe Tyler Perry & Oprah put their name on this one. It was just...OUT THERE! There was no clear character development but if there was an award for how many times Mo'Nique can say the F word in a movie, oh give her the award. Now I'm left with having to get the images out of my mind of Precious getting r-a-p-e-d by her father (I presume, or at least her mother's man) and having her mother watch AND having to "please" her mother. Ridiculously sick mind of the author since this wasn't "based on actual events."
Not only did I waste my money, but thats an hour of my life I won't get back.

The movie concerns the huge life challenges faced by Precious, and it shows the significant progress she makes. However, I think it would have been far more effective if two or three challenges were introduced and then, over the course of the movie, fully overcome. That way there could have been a plot, complete with tension, instead of a 2-hour message that seemed to say "look how life sucks for this girl; let's watch as she tries to make things a little better, even though she experiences regular self-induced setbacks."

The movie was great and the story line was exceptional educational for our youth. A real eye opener for people that did not think such abuse can be committed. However, after reading the book "Push" years ago, my expectations of the movie were highly over exaggerated and kind of disappointing as well. This was one of the most powerful movies I've ever seen. I still can't get it out of my head days later. The cast was amazing and the story so well told. This movie showed how many children are raised by parents with mental illness(mother)also the poverty involved, no male leadership , just no self -esteem building, no talk of GOD it's a wake-up call to ALL young people.Each generation depending on Govt. help WE need to break those CHAINS OF BONDAGE. The movie should be a must for all teens. This movie is real life and needs to be a wake up call that life is not easy nor an entitlement to many of the luxuries that teens of today feel they deserve. This young woman's fight to survive the unimaginable should be an inspiration to all. So many teens today think they have it so rough--they need to see this movie. It is also my hope that many wil have the courage to speak out against the abuse that they may be enduring.

I won't try to explain it to you. Just go see it. I'm wondering why some are upset by the ending. I think the whole point is, despite the horror this girl suffered at home, that she has been given some sort of chance through her own determination and the commitment of others to make a difference in her life. What happens beyond the point of her inexhorably cutting all ties with her mother and striking out on her own, is up to her and the decisions she makes. Don't miss this movie.

This was a very good movie. It is not for the supersensitive person that cannot deal with the "bad" things of life. I read the book prior to seeing the movie. I think I should have seen the movie first and then read the book because I knew absolutely too much about what was going to happen. But then on the other hand by reading the book first I was very curious as to how some scenes would play out. I am happy to see this type of "in your face" movie because this type of abuse is real and has been going on for many many years! Definately not for children though.
