If you knew you had one last chance to see a movie....pick this one! Don't let the length scare you, you will never know this movie was almost 3 hours. Honestly the best movie I have seen in years - to echo other's comments; we sat still for over 2 and a half hours immersed in the Na'vi world and culture. A wonderful creation brought to life through the efforts of the author and the countless creative geniuses that really put us in the experience.

I had already heard this movie was spectacular, but I had no idea it would be THAT amazing. In one scene of the movie when there is a jump off a cliff into the water, I actually physically felt myself hit the water. Both my husband and I cannot stop thinking about this movie nor talking about it. It was just an incredible story, and it has something for everyone. The visual effects or phenomenal and surreal. I would completely recommend experiencing this movie in an IMAX 3D setting for sure!

This was my second time seeing it. The first time, we went to go see it at the IMax and it was sold out so we went to our little local theater and saw it in 3D there. We loved it so much that we decided to go see it again at the IMax. This was my first IMax experience and i was very disappointed. the screen was large but the picture was blurry all on the sides of the screen. if you weren't looking dead on, center, it was a mess. my sister said that the IMax we went to wasn't a good one. oh, well. Our little James Island theater was much better 3D. I left the IMax with a bad headache. can't wait until it is out in blue-ray.

The imagery was amazing. I could not imagine seeing this in any other format besides 3D Imax. My daughter and I enjoyed it and there were not any movie moments that made me regret bringing her. Warning: Don't drink anything during the movie as you are not going to want to leave the theater until it's over.

Avatar 3D was an astonishing and powerful movie, the 3D effects were good, but somewhat distracting, and would probably be better if not for the poorly arranged lay out of the theater. I have had good IMAX experiences in the past and I have seen good 3D movies in the past, but it did not work well in this theater. the seats were arranged in a way that some were way too close to the screen and it ruined parts of the experience. I will see this movie again to better enjoy it, but I will avoid any other IMAX 3D in this theater because it is a waste of money.

This amazing story sucks you in, esp if you "empty your cup," and you may find yourself cheering in the crowd! i enjoyed every bit of the movie, and I wish it didn't end! it was like an amazing dream... this MUST be watched in 3D at least!

I can't take away from the technical aspect of this movie. Great effects, and actually a great story. But, way too much profanity, and it's unnecessary. Absolutely no reason to take the Lord's name in vain, and that happens at least three times.
Cut out the cussing, and you'd have an excellent movie!

This is easily the most visually stunning film I've ever seen. Even if you take away the 3D and IMAX enhancements (which were awesome), the level of CGI and cinematography were above anything I've ever seen.
James Cameron still has his wonderful knack for great storytelling, and although the plot can get a little preachy (love the environment stuff), there is never a dull moment and you are kept wondering how it will all turn out.
This has to be the leading contender for best picture of the year, and if it doesn't win, I have got to see what does win. Great film all around.

Instead of the typical use of 3D to throw stuff at the audience Cameron used it to show depth. It is a great use of the technology to engage the audience.
However, I was turned off by the movie plot.
The movie voices liberal views on war (Iraq and Afghanistan), they completely demonize American Military Personnel, Contractors, and the mining industry. One character actually said, "It's some kind of Shock and Awe Campaign." I wonder why Cameron didn't add a scene showing Americans clubbing baby seals.
Cameron decided to use Americans as the bad guys in this movie. We are being targeted by Islamic terrorists and the most evil character he can come up with is an American Soldier? Nice job Cameron.

This movie surpassed expectations! I thought it was just going to be a showcase for the cgi and 3d imagery. While this was nothing short of spectacular, the story itself was excellent. I highly recommend seeing this.

Intense, enjoyable, felt like I was sharing every experience. The I Max experience was just awesome. We thought at first since we didn't get middle seats in the theatre our experience would be lacking but we were wrong. We still had the best movie experience at the best movie we have seen so far. I will be seeing this again, and probably again.

This was my first 3D movie that I saw since JAWS 3D from like 1987. All I can say is WOW~~~ I was in awe from start to finish from the effect alone. The story gets a B but the overall presentation bumps up the score to an A!! You have to see this one in IMAX 3D. This is the start of a new genre of movies.

The amazing thing about Avatar is that it is the first movie ever to not use 3-D as a gimmick. The subtle 3-D scenes make you feel much more involved in the movie. It's as if you're looking through a really large window as opposed to a flat screen.
With that said, the story is good and enjoyable, but mostly predictable. I found myself waiting to see who survives at the end, and wanting the battle scenes to end (the effects for them were awesome though).
I see why the movie is the incredible blockbuster that it is... It will change the way movies are made and is the new standard from this point forward.

What a wonderful movie...the technical was worth the watch alone! You feel like you are right there in the action...today's level of producing 3D movies is very impressive! James Cameron needs to put a true 3D at Epcot now!!! No longer the silly cheesey techniques of decades gone by.... I have a new respect for the 3D movie ability of today...beats your flat screen tv and movie screens anyday!!!!!

The portion of the movie that I saw was astonishing, with 3D effects that enhanced but did not overwhelm. I really got the sense of being IN this extraordinary world. Unfortunately, the IMAX broke down with about 40 minutes remaining in the movie. After fiddling with it for about 15 minutes, staff at the Barrett Commons 24 informed us that it could not be fixed. Welcome back to Earth and AMC theaters. We were offered only a refund OR free passes for a future AMC showing, and the line for both was as long as the one to get into the movie. This theater is difficult to find, and the traffic flow is horrible. I hope to see the end of the movie sometime soon (though not at this theater, and maybe skipping the IMAX).

This movie provides an escape from reality for three hours, and at the same time the story reminds us what really is important in life. Not only is Avatar visually stunning and ahead of it's time, but the morals of the story will withstand the test of time. Going out to see this movie is more than just seeing a movie, it's an American Experience! I would recommend Avatar to anyone and I can truly say it's one of the best movies I've ever seen!

We finally saw this flick last night—in IMAX 3D, which was so worth it and might warrant a second viewing! One can only imagine that audiences leaving "The Wizard of Oz" in 1939 might have felt the same sense of wonder after seeing a movie so far and away more visually stimulating than anything ever seen before. The 3D effects are less gimmicky and more enveloping as you feel that you are in the scenes, even if simply noticing the presence of insects. Avatar’s world is a gorgeous spectacle reminiscent of the beauty of a coral reef brought to land. It fits thematically right into the pantheon of many other great films like 2001, Star Wars Episode 6, Aliens (Cameron), Dances with Wolves, Titanic (Cameron), The Matrix, and Lord of the Rings.
