Great 3D effects, terrific story line. Something for everyone! Has some chick flick story line, some violence for the guys, political undertones, and a great moral to the story. Absolutely awesome. I felt so good when I left that I want to go back again. Now that is what a movie should do to us after we walk away! And the time just flew by. No pun intended! WOW!

Emotional, intense, visually stunning. A beautiful, powerful movie that holds a position in my 'top 5 movies of all time.' The 3d Imax was seamless; I have never experienced such amazing 3d images. The 3d is not jumpy or intrusive, one just feels as if he or she is physically on the planet, Pandora. Strong connections and empathy are easily formed with the characters. LOVED IT!!!

IMAX 3-D. This movie was a great experience. I'm a special effects geek, and I was totally fascinated by the look and feel of this movie. The Pandora plant life, forest, animals, everything were very believable. The story line (kind of a "Aliens" meets "Ferngully") is a similar story line that's been used in Hollywood since movies began, but the way it's delivered in this movie makes it all new. It was a fantastic experience, and you when it's over you can't believe that it's been over 2 and half hours. If you go to the movies for an escape, this one provides it for you. Well worth the trip to the theater.

Hokey, feel-goody even if overused story line.
The Imax 3d technology was awesome. At the beginning I was reaching out to touch the spaceship and characters that looked and felt as if they were right in front of me.
However, the spectacle went from mind-blowing to mind-numbing. It wasn't just overkill, it just wasn't fun anymore. Once the special effects were no longer special they were almost boring.
Glad I saw it, but an hour shorter and saving some of the special effects would have pushed this from 3 star to 4.5

3D Imax was incredible and made the action and allure of the alien world more real. The plot wasn't anything new but it moved along well and 2hrs 40 went by like it was nothing, I didn't check my watch once.

I went to see the new techniques used to make this movie and was completely blown away. I actually thought the 3D worked great and enhanced the viewing. Much of the plot has been used in other sci fi thrillers but it had several twists and turns that made it seem fresh. I was prepared to walk out of the movie if I became restless but I thought the action never stopped and enjoyed the movie from start to finish. I would have given it 4 1/2 stars if it was possible.By the way no body else in the place got figidity either

3D is very fun! Definitely a visually pleasing movie with cool graphics. Same old search and destroy theme - the US going in to take what they want regardless of the civilization they're killing.

Great hype, great effects, but long and overused storyline. It is so long that several of our party fell asleep. Hasn't anyone ever seen Fern Gully? It might not have had the whiz bang effects, but in essence, it's the same storyline. Nice try Jim Cameron.

Although the visuals were entertaining, the story remained marginal at best and then faltered at the 75% point of completion. James Cameron took elements from his past movies and just outfitted them using modern technology which many will find offensive (Abyss fans and Aliens fans will recognize the subtle influences)
Cameron has come a long way from directing maggots for horror films and producing Piranha 2. Although I did enjoy the movie overall, the story's lack of ingenuity kills perfection.

While at first I was resistant in seeing the movie - mostly I felt it was something on the line of another sci-fi movie genre (which isn't my favorite).
What I did hear from friends and media - was this is a movie you have to experience via IMAX 3-D (also after the Golden Globes and SAG Awards - I definitely felt I needed to see the movie for myself and see what all the hype was about) and I AM GLAD I DID! The movie blew me away - not to mention the experience via IMAX. Some may think a 2 hour and 40 minute movie is a bit much - but I can honestly say - it didn't seem that long. I plan to see this movie again!!!!

I was this twice,the 1st time was in 3D at my local theatre and the 2nd time was at the IMAX,
this is certainly worth seeing in IMAX as the huge screen makes a really big difference,of all the recent movies made in 3D,this is by far the best.Make sure you go early to get a good seat as you don't want to be sat too near the front of the theatre too close as you won't be able to appreciate the effects fully!

Avatar was totally invigorating!!! Never a dull moment! It reached every depth of your imagination, and kept you wondering what was going to happen next. The visual effects are the best I've ever seen! It may have been long in length, but it always kept your attention, and before you know it it's over. I would see again and again!

Avatar 3D at I -Max was outstanding. I rarely go to movie theaters but the I-Max experience was awesome. It is well worth the extra cost and will probably get me to the theater much more often. All of the hype about Avatar is well deserved!

I reluctantly went to see this with my husband thinking it would be more of a child's fantasy movie and was very surprised!! Nothing of the sort! the only reason i went to see this movie was because my husband really wanted to see it. this is NOT my type of movie AT ALL...but after seeing it it was MUCH better than i could have ever expected it to be. it had action, love, a real story line and awesome effects. i would recommend this to everyone. very neat! :D

I was looking very forward to seeing this movie in IMAX 3D,my husband on the other hand just wasn't interested in seeing this movie(becuase it being CGI). After several discussions and the HBO behind the scenes... he hesitantly agreed to accompany me. I am pleased to say he loved it just as much as I did. He thought it was great & couldn't stop talking about how awesome all the effects were - he was on his cell talking about the movie with his friend on the way out of the theater!!
Thank you James Cameron!!! You have created a new movie genre - Keep up the brilliant work!!!

I took my daughter to see this and she was prepared to not like it at all because of it being outside the range of what she normally likes. We both came out just totally blown away by the experience. I didn't want it to end and all she could say was amazing. What an epic experience. I'm 61 and she's 35 and we were like little children with a new toy....show me more.

If you had asked me two days ago if I would go see this film, I would have told you "absolutly not!, i won't see a cartoon!" After viewing the film last night in IMAX 3-D, I was pleasantly corrected by the stunning visual affects and an uncanny beauty of the film. The cinematography of the film is breathtaking, and I was even satisfied with it's common hollywood formula. This is not a movie I would watch again, partly because it's very long, but it's definetly worth seeing once.
