I really enjoyed seeing Avatar in 3-D at the IMAX theater. The audio and visual experience was amazing, and the forest world with all the interesting creatures that was the setting for most of the movie felt very real. Some of the aerial shots were breathtaking, including the shots of the 'floating mouintains'. This movie wasn't just about effects though, it had a story that was multi-faceted, complex, emotionally evocative and relevant for today's world. I have to give Avatar a thumbs up...it's worth seeing.

Avatar is a fantastic movie I want to see it again !!! But If you plan to see it at AMC Garden State 16 at Garden State Plaza in Paramus NJ , you need to get there at least 1 hour before the show starts and be prepared to wait in a huge line for that hour.

I really liked the forest, the Na'vi, the Avatars, the flying. Lots of visual pleasure. If that's what you're looking for (and who isn't?), you probably want to see it in 3D IMAX.
I wasn't disappointed by the predictable plot or characterizations - I expected that. No problem there.
It was the bombardment by noise and violence that was the spoiler. It's not just offensive - it's boring like most violent action films (yes, there are exceptions). Battle starts - story stops.
Unobtainium.
Turns out it's not a cheesy term coined by filmmakers, but an actual scientific term. Unobtainium is the term used by scientists to describe an unknown or impossible to get substance. Who'd o' thought?
Fun? Yes!
Best picture? Hah!

From the start this movie engulfs you into the story. I saw it on IMAX 3D and I swear I felt as if I could smell the rain forest. All the Characters were welled developed and believable.
The Only sad part about this movie is it's fiction mimicking life. Unfortunately, in life there was no hero nor a happy ending.
Nonetheless, this is a must see movie and on a 3D Imax if you can.

This movie had incredible special effects - very impressive. However, I thought the 3D aspect could've been much cooler. It seemed like everything that came toward you, turned to the side before it really came at you. It would've been awesome to have arrows shooting around us, the giant birds flying over us. Overall, I enjoyed it, just not sure if the 3D IMAX was worth the extra money. I liked the relationship between the 2 main characters, but the moral of the story was way too obvious. I like the way it's presented that everything lving in the world is connected, but I doubt the message of this movie will have any real impact.

This is the second time I have watched it on IMAX 3D and I am amazed at the things I missed the first time around. I guess I was so awed by the movie spectacle that I totally missed important statements and incidents within the film. See it again to assure that you've had the benefit of getting all you can from this movie.

One of the best films I've ever seen. Cameron has such vision in this one. Shows that it doesn't always take a severely convoluted storyline to get human emotions and reactions from most of us. Entirely entertaining, even with wearing the stupid glasses (worth it for the 3D effect)

3-d experience at i-max was amazing just didn't like the indain tribe thing with the avatar people Na'VI more depth should have gone into a new language and manerisms. But entertainment wise it was exceptional and all of the acting was great Sigourny's avatar did not fit her to plain and too nice

Even though the story lines have been used before (ummm Pocahontas plus Matrix) it is extremely well done with a subtle blend of comedy and social commentary and scifi effects and explosions....all in 3D!! What's not to like!!

The graphic and special effects are truly outstanding. The story is a love story where good finally wins out over evil. It is, perhaps, a story of how the American Indians may have made a different world than the one we have today.
However it is far too violent, especially for a PG-13 rating. Is this sort of violence what leads us to the violent world we live in today? I realize a significant part of the wonderul graphics are intimately intertwined with this violence.
I believe it is a movie for mature adults who are not likely to be influenced by that violence.

My family and I loved the IMAX 3-D version of this movie. It is a great story. I hope there is a sequel and more.
We did, however, notice alot more foul language than a PG-13 movie usually has, and were disappointed in that.

Excellent in every aspect. We go to alot of movies this has been the best one for a long time. The time went by very fast. It was the second time I saw it, make sure you see it in 3D the first time I didn't. The 3D experience was exceptional. It felt like a different movie than the first time without 3D. It should win everything it's nominated for. James Cameron please hurry and make another movie.

From the beginning of this movie to the very end, you leave this world and enter the world of Pandora. It's like discovering a new world, creatures, people and you are right there, in it too, for the first time. The special effects are amazing and so good that you feel like you are living this amazing movie. It's a must see. The story, well, we have all heard a similar one before but still moving. The overall experience is well worth your time, almost 3 hours and the extra money. I suggest going to see it at an Imax screen. When it's over, while walking back to your car, you'll wish it wasn't over yet. Or that at least they'll make another someday so you can go back and visit~

I wasn't sure I would like the movie but I was very pleasantly surprised at how good it was. I disagree with criticism that the story was lacking. The special effects were amazing. 3D worked great. Two hours and forty minutes went by very quickly. It had something for everyone. And I absolutely loved Sam Worthington.
