it was an amazing technological breakthrough in digitizing actors/actresses and have them presented in a novel way. The story owes too much to Matrix, vietnam war movies, Native American stories (even the chanting) and there are quite a lot of inconsistencies in the file (aren't they supposed to die in 4 mins after exposure in local air without a mask? why are those pilots and bad guys and even the good female pilot flying around without problems?)
there was no character development. Eveyone was either really saintly or really evil. the real world is not like this, sorry,

The visuals were fantastic. The effects were fantastic. You must see it in 3D-Imax. It was definitely worth it. However, the story was unoriginal, predictable and, sorry to say, somewhat boring. You have seen the same story a thousand times in different settings. But the movie is still worth it for the visual effects alone.

I love the 3D picture of the movie it was verry realistic. The IMAX 3D experience really makes a movie come alive! A real escape into another world a pleasure to watch. This is unbelieveable I am thoroughly planning on going back and seeing it again.

I loved this movie. After seeing it twice the only way to see this movie is IMAX- 3D! Don't recommend for younger children but I'd say 10 and up is a safe age.

great movie. I went with 8 people, every one agreed the movie was very good.
But all 4 adult woman were very sick. The flying was to real for me. the 4 others were from 7 to 18. thay were fine.no sickness.

This movie was hyped up so much to me that it was somewhat of a let down when I finally saw it. I saw the 3D Imax version which may not have been a plus for me. The glasses were huge and drove me crazy all movie long. The special effects were amazing but the story line was just ok. I am not a huge fan of sci fi movies so maybe I should not have gone but I enjoy seeing any and all movies that are up for an Oscar. My kids have seen this 3 and 4 times. Once is def enough for me.

We had seen Avatar previously, but without 3D or IMAX. Seeing it again in 3D and in an IXAX theater made a huge difference. Unbelieveable special effects and sound. Even knowing the entire story line, seeing (and hearing) it in 3D with the IMAX sounds made an already impressive movie experience a fantastic one!

Visually arresting and ultimately moving . . . . especially for animal lovers . . . the story had to simple and straightforward . . . . there were so many "fabricated cultural" aspects to it that it could easily have gone awry were Cameron trying to be Truffaut, too!!!!!

Avatar was great at the IMAX Theater! Big visuals and Big sound! The story line was very similar to 2005 Dinotopia: Quest for the Ruby Sunstone movie.

We saw this in a full-size 3-D IMAX . The CGI was awesome, and the 3D effects were very well done -- I actually felt as if I were an Pandora.
The story line was predictable, but the graphics kept things from getting boring. The acting was so-so.
The science was terrible. "Unobtanium" -- give me a break. That was the punch-line of a joke from the 50's. Pandora is supposed to be low gravity, but things fell at the same speed that they do on earth.

I loved thismovie!!! I loved everything about it. Pandora was beautifully done and looked so real. Nothing in this movie looked fake. I think it was all done so well. What a mind James Cameron has to think about a place like Pandora. I had heard how long the movie was but for me, I did not want it to end. We need an AVATAR 2!!!! I recommend this movie 100%.

I am not big on fantasy or sci-fi movies and I loved Avatar. The 2 hours and 40 minutes did not drag once and I was entertained the whole way through. I understand why all my friends raved about it and I highly recommend seeing it in IMAX 3D. Terrific expereince and a great date night!
