i took all grandkids to see this in 3-D. Not one of them moved for almost 3 hours. It is a stunning movie! I can't wait to see the sequel.

This movie was a wonderful experience. It is a cross between Ferngully and Dances with Wolves. Great message, great action, great 3 D effects. We loved it and will go back, because unfortunately we had to sit on the front row. And it was still worth the price of admission.

I loved everything about Avatar. There was not a moment I wasn't in awe of how far we have come in filmmaking. I am beyond excited for the (crossed fingers) next two, and future movies to come out of James Cameron's studios.

My favorite movie since the day it came out has been Braveheart, not due to graphics or 3d but story. Now that i Have seen Avatar, I can say that this is my new favorite. The story was gripping and, combined with the unbelievable 3d and the realistic world of Pandora, it completely pulls you into the world and doesnt let you go one bit until the very last second. Outstanding. Simply awesome.

I LOVED this movie and wouldn't mind to go watch it again. I watched it in 3-D at IMAX and it was an amazing experience. Even though the movie is long it is worth every minute. I think it's a great way to look at war from the other persons eyes who has to suffer when one group of people think that they have a right to come in, take over and force their demands on others. Nice to see it from the other side. Great movie!

Avatar has spectacular special effects! The colors are beautiful and the 3D is flawless.
However, it has the same characters as Mr. Cameron's classic Aliens II. There are space marines, big company executives, scientists etc. The difference is that the space marines are now villains instead of heroes. Go figure.
Still, go see the movie. It's really fun.

Absolutely the best film I have EVER experienced. I say experienced because the combination of top-notch animation, combined with live characters....all in 3D, was simply beyond anything that has ever graced the silver screen! Honestly...the story line was a bit predictable and the characters all seemed "borrowed" from other movies and computer games such as World of Warcraft, but the movie is so enthralling that you can't look away for a second! The audience even applauded the end of the film. I just LOVED it!

What an incredible movie! I could not leave my seat...for anything. While it is a long movie, it uses the time incredibly well to tell the story. The directing, production, casting...everything was the best I have seen in years and I am an avid movie goer. The audience actually cheered for the citizens of AVATAR when they won the battle. This will definitely be a repeat movie for me at the theater. BTW - the IMAX is the way to view this movie. Trust me.e

The last time I remember being this wowed was in summer of '77 - seeing the original Star Wars in 70mm. Go see this in IMAX 3D or, or if you just can't stand the lines for IMAX, then see it in Real-3D - either way, it will blow you away. It starts a little slow for about the first 5 minutes, but then it's 2:35 of a rush - and you absolutely do not feel the length. Total suspense of disbelief. Just absolutely spectacular detail. Something for everyone. Will have to go at least once or twice more to take it all in.

I saw this movie because a couple of friends convinced me to go. I thought it looked okay but didn't feel like chipping in the extra money to see it in IMAX. I'm SO glad I did! I was completely dumbstruck the entire time. I couldn't believe I was actually looking at what was happening on the screen, it all looked so real! Especially when the Pterodactyl things are flying around the floating islands. Incredible movie, I suppose I've been converted to an Avatar fan.

The technology is finally here. Now Hollywood can finally take the worlds that I have only been able to see in my imagination, and accurately put them on the big screen. This movie is to the sci-fi genre what the Lord of the Rings movies were to fantasy. Niven, Foster, Anthony, Pournelle....the time for these authors to have their books make it to the movies is here. IMAX was awesome, regular 3D was great, but even if you have to see this movie through the bottom of an old coke bottle, go see this movie!

OMG....did this movie take special effects to a new level. Yes, I will agree--like some reviewers--that the sci-fi part was not on par with Star wars, but the action and romantic mix more than made up for that. I can easly see where the 300 mil went to--graphic production. I was also impressed with the mix of animated grapics / real shots. I really was prepared fpr just a small portion of animation, since it cost more. Much to my surprise the opposite was given. Not a penny was spared in this production. I look forward to the sequel.
My only complaint, though small, the ending was a bit canned and predictable.

I thought this movie was good, definitely worth seeing in 3D, particularly at an IMAX. I'm not a huge SciFi follower, but I enjoy the genre. I liked the story line and I think the time although lengthy, was fine. I don't think this is on par with previous SciFi blockbusters such as the Star Wars or Lord of the Rings movies. It's definitely worth seeing, but it can be a little "preachy" feeling and although I may agree with the sentiment, when I pay for entertainment, I'm not usually wanting it to be part of the movie. Sam Worthington did a good job.

Avatar is the best movie that has come out in about 5-10 years.Everything about the movie from the visuals,environment,music and characters make it brilliant to watch.I feel that this movie will spark a new genre for the film industry,just like George Lucas did with Star Wars.It is a must see in only Imax 3D.Three hours feels like 1.5 and you leave thinking Pandora is outside the theatre.It is a must see for everybody.The most visually captivating film of its time.

3D & IMAX made this an overwhelming experience. The movie has many levels: It's a love story, a religious Messiah story, history story of colonialism, US treatment of American Indians comes to mind, military industrial complex gone wild, respect for life in all it's forms, And an appreciation of nature and caring about it. The aliens still looked like the humans in facial details. Star Trek, Jurassic Park, Dances with Wolves and more. Great Job!

Went for Imax 3D by going to early show to save the extra charges...As the producer said tell a great story in 2 D and the extra effects are like the cherry on top. As an old guezzer, I guess that the cherry wasn't as spectacular for our group, we all thought the story was great but would have enjoyed it the same in 2D. There were 5 of us that say it together.
Plan on it being long, it would have been nice to have an intermission but by eating before and planning it worked fine without a break, you may not want to leave in the middle.

Avatar is awesome! The ending is sad. This movie will change how other films are made. I have a feeling about next year all movies will be made in IMAX 3D. I couldn't stop shaking after the movie. This movie is awesome! One must make an effort to see this movie at an IMAX theater and in 3-D. While the plot is age-old: good over evil, it's a likable one. Evil humans want what the indigenous aliens have, and the indigenous must pay a high price. Bring in a few caring humans, who in the form of their assigned avatars (hence the apt name of the movie) take up the fight against the greedy humans for the underdog. The evil characters are sufficiently hate-able, the good characters are quite likable,and the whole plot is acted out against a tremendously beautiful and stunning backdrop. The movie is long, but the time passes quickly, because it's so engaging. This is a must see for everyone, even those who don't normally like scifi.
