Not What I Expected

This was a case of the set overwhelming the singers. The rheinmadains IN BLACK? BLue, green, aqua, but black against a dark background- stupid choice, hard to see what was going on. Too many close ups, not very opera like, wanted more long shots. While everyone sang well, the magic was not there. Never drew me into the story. The dragon in the former production was much more effective than a Jurrasic Park skeleton supposed to be a 'snake' I left disappointed at this and hope the other parts of the ring will not be staged this way. New is not always better. I had wanted to bring some others with me and was glad I did not as to not turn them off opera.
Good projection, sound and it did not break up at all through the whole time, as it has in the past.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Much More Than I Expected 6stars!

3D & IMAX made this an overwhelming experience. The movie has many levels: It's a love story, a religious Messiah story, history story of colonialism, US treatment of American Indians comes to mind, military industrial complex gone wild, respect for life in all it's forms, And an appreciation of nature and caring about it. The aliens still looked like the humans in facial details. Star Trek, Jurassic Park, Dances with Wolves and more. Great Job!
Yes, I recommend this movie.
