I'm not dissapointed with the Movie it's self, it's the theater that I had a problem with. AMC should not get away with adding a few extra seats and calling it IMAX.
In a true IMAX theater, both the front row as well as tha back row should have a good view. I did not enjoy my movie because I had to sit in the front row, because were a family of six, and the entire experience was unconfortable.

Saw this movie with my husband, and 10 year old son and his friend. It was a little long, but brilliantly done - most especially the special effects - Pandora was really beautiful.
All of us enjoyed it immensely - lots of action (actually it never seemed to stop), and realistic characters.
Definitely worth seeing.

AVATAR was an amazing experience -- especially in Imax 3D (I strongly recommend that everyone see it this way or not at all).
To me, the film is in STAR WAR's league. Its roots seem to belong to APOCHOLYPSE NOW, THE EMERALD FOREST, TERMINATOR and STAR WARS. But with lots of new spice.

This movie is simply the best movie in any category that I have ever seen in my life. The effort on behalf of director Cameron during the many years prior to the release of Avatar paid in full. I would unequivocaly recommend this movie to anyone in the world, but see it in the 3-D Experience to get the full effect since the whole purpose of Cameron's Avatar technical filming was to maximize the 3D effect. This movie has ushered a new standard for movie viewers and I am sure you will agree

Now I know how people seeing the first moving picture show or the first "talkie" or the 1st color movie must have felt. Avatar is a visual wonder and the 3D IMAX technology transports you to a world that explodes with sensations....GO SEE IT!!

The visual aspects of this movie are stunning. The CGI and motion capture has been taken to a whole new level. A bit long, and a story that's a little implausible, does not mar the stunning special effects. Sam Worthington does a great job as Sully, while Sigourny Weaver portrays Grace with her usual style; a bit toned down from her Ripley days.
At a minimum, you NEED to see this movie in 3D. Better yet, if available in your location, see it in IMAX 3D for the best impact.

Even if you aren't a fan of Sci-Fi/Fantasy, you've got to see this movie. It is absolutely incredible. I saw it on IMax and it was one of the best viewing experiences I've ever had. Tip of the hat to James Cameron. You've really outdone yourself this time. This film/franchise will be iconic, on par with Star Wars and Lord of the Rings... that's how good it is.

Oh My God!! What an amazing treat! We LOVED this movie.... The visuals were superb!!
The plot was awesome ! Not one thing could have been better! It was a trip to another dimension. The jungles, animals & flowers were all a technicolor dream. The Avatars were Beautiful & so real!! WOW A++++++ Thank you James & Cast!!!!!

This movie is the most incredible visual experience that has ever been brought the the big screen. Because I work in I.T. I can appreciate the sheer computing power that ws needed to create the wonder that is Avatar. The common plot of "The evil corporation trying to drive the natives from their land to exploit it." is brought to a monumental level!! I was in awe the whole time!!! There are absolutely NO slow or dragging points in this entire movie. In short-- GO SEE IT!!! SEE IT IN IMAX 3D!!!

I went in with mixed expectations since I'm not a fan of animation at all. This film is hardly animation though. I saw it in I-Max 3D. It was truly amazing and anyone that doesn't experience this film is missing out on history in the making. I loved it!!

The real life actors are second rate, but you get past that when the movie concentrates on the CGI characters. The plot is corny, last of the Mohicans meets Star Ship Troopers! The scenery is magnificent!
Will it change how we view movies? More than likely, from this day on all major movies will have to be shot in IMAX 3D. After that it will progress to supplant Blue Ray for home entertainment, 3D on your flat screen will be here soon enough. So to get a glimpse of the future, go see it

I saw it in IMAX 3D & I was blown away by the details! The Na'vi were an amazing people & their world was beautiful! The storyline was well thought out & the actors, especially Zoe Saldana & Sam Worthington made the movie. I look forward to the sequel(s) eagerly!

The CGI is a given. As to the plot, I consider Avatar to be 21st century version on Dances With Wolves with themes of imperialism and environmentalism. Beyond the CGI this movie is frought with political commentary. It is worth seeing a few times to absorb these aspects as well.

Michael Cameron has created a world that is graceful, poetic, fierce, and ecologically correct. The transition of his lead character makes perfect sense within the context of the story and the love story. Of course the 3D, the sound, and the overall technical quality were superb. If I have anything negative to say, it is that the final battle was a bit long and repetitive. But again, the effects were so right on that it is but a minor flaw in an otherwise terrific film.

I went into this movie expecting another Waterworld fiasco; however, I was immensely surprised by how much I loved and appreciated this movie and the whole 3D experience!! First, I think 3D technology has come a long way from my first viewing (Jaws3 in 3D) and the movie viewing experience was terrific and really made you feel as if you could reach into the movie with ease. The glasses are much better then they have been in the past, but they still need some work to make for a seemless viewing experience. I loved the story as well, really well thought-out by the master!!

This movie was amazing! From the very beginning you know it is going to be something extremely special. I highly recommend seeing it in 3D, it completely enhances the movie and makes for a better experience. Absolutely awesome!

AMAZING. The 3D was the best I had ever seen it. My 5 year old said he liked this movie better than all the 3D cartoons. The story was just as great. I really enjoyed the message which sad to say I don't think we will ever accept until it is too late. The Pandora planet was beautiful! I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone and I would see it again myself. Haven't had a thrill like this since the day Star Wars opened way back when.

The CGI is so good that you essentially forget that it is CGI. NOTHING in the graphics spoil the immersion into the reality played out on the screen. Plot wise, it was relatively predictable but still quite enjoyable. It has been a VERY LONG time since I have gone back to see a repeat showing in the theatre but I will be going back to see this, in IMAX 3D again, at least one more time. The only real concern I have is can this movie hold the attention of my 8 or even my 6 year old long enough to carry them through the 3 hours (with previews and all).

I was pretty sure it would be good given all the positive reviews I had read, but I didn't think anything could live up to the level of hype it was getting. It did... and this is not a remake, sequel, re-imaging, anything, it's a truly original movie. The best movie I've seen since District 9 and probably even better than that one.

Special effects were awesome! Maybe a bit on the political side but makes you think! The biological correlations were great! Hope this movie doesnt make people think badly about our military! Keep in mind these people were hired guns!! Make sure to see it in 3D!

This was such a visual and intellectual treat, the colors, the textures, the thoughts painted for us with such artistry! The conflicts were equally disturbing and thought provoking, the balance between mother nature/ earth and "the man" issues we all are coming to terms with these days...Hopeful as well as showing what is and can be lost...
Well worth a couple of trips to the IMAX theater in 3D. In short, Bravo! A home run!
