Five stars . Exciting action. Main characters were excellent. Bad guy character should have been better developed. He was a shallow caricature. Story was close to being preachy at times but didn't cross the line.
Overall great imaginative tale with amazing visuals.

For those that have yet to see this movie I strongly recommend spending the extra money to see the 3D version. The new technology in cinematography is absolutley amazing and worth the extra cost for the 3D ticket. I never watch a movie in the theatre twice, but I am making an exception on this one! I have already preordered tickets for tomorrows show because it keeps selling out. The only down side I can see is how good is it going to be on blue-ray, because I want this one for my home collection. Like other reviews have said... this is the future of 3D movies!

There was a problem with the beginning of this movie. The left side was not showing with the glasses. We had to sit still for about 15 minutes for the projector to be re-calibrated. This was a minor inconvenience to an excellent movie. I do feel that the projector should have been ready for the first screening. As a result of this problem we did not see the trailers in 3D.

This 3D technology is the future of movie making. James Cameron has done it again with a great story and stunning special effects. We were two rows from the screen and to the left of center and the seats were still great ...... something you could never say in a 2D movie. Don't bother with seeing it in 2D..its a waste of money. One gets the feeling you really are on the Na'vi's planet...and "I see you" will be the next catchphrase of 2010. Would I recommend it? Absolutely.

A must see in 3D IMAX. Spectacular special effects with a slightly illogical & disappointing story line.
I thought the plot of the movie would have been much better without the negative depiction of US Marines. Why was it necesary to show Sigourney Weaver smoking ciragettes in a space station-like module--stupid!
Aside from being about 30 minutes too long, I would highy recommend this film for a PG13 rated audience only. Too intense and way too loud for younger audiences.

This movie is the movie of the year for me the BEST movie I've seen since lasts year's The Dark Knight. People have to see this movie and not just for the CGI stuff but for the story and the concept of this movie. It does show how ignorant people can be and have been. Just see it for yourself and watch is on IMAX 3D it will blow you away. Amazing movie.

The visual imagery in Avatar was spectacular and sets the new standard for movie technology. James Horner's score perfectly complements the imagery. Nothwithstanding the very overt philosophical and politcal themes of the screenplay, the plot seems to drag at times. However, the fast-paced intense finale makes up for the prior plodding action. A very good movie, but not a "Titanic" one.

Both my wife and I were really impressed with this movie. The animation and scenery were so well done, it seemed completely real -- like it had actually been filmed on another planet. The acting and dialog, the story, the whole darn script was just exceptional. I turned to my wife half way through and said we've already gotten our money's worth! What a ride! The 3D was fantastic, especially when they were running on huge tree limbs 100's of feet above the forest floor. Well worth seeing again, which is something I never do. This movie was just fantastic.

I think everyone knows without reading this that Avatar was all about it's visual effects and less about it's story. Don't misunderstand, the story is good, but lets just say that the writters can stay home on awards day. Aside from a few shakey parts in the story, I have nothing negative to say about the film. In IMAX, you feel as if you're actually on Pandora (the fantasy world on which the movie takes place), right in the middle of the action. From the acting, to the action, to the effects and visuals, Avatar is easily one of the ten best movies I've ever seen.

I've seen this movie twice now, in regular 3-D and IMAX 3-D, and I'll probably see it again next week. I can't get enough! Of the two versions, the regular 3-D seemed better. The effects were more pronounced on the smaller screen. I recommend this movie to anyone who is willing to hear me rant about it <grin>. I'm totally immersed.

This movie has no originality of a storyline. Yeah it has new aliens, new planet, missiles vs. bows & arrows, etc. But the concept of "new people" coming to steal something from the land? Does anybody remember Pocahontas or the pilgrims? Save your money and go see something with an original thought. It does have great special FX but after 30 minutes it isn't very "special" anymore. (Haha, get it?)

Isaw the Avatar: Imax 3D show. OMG! It was the best ever. When I left the theatre, I kept saying over and over, "That was such a good movie!" The story was strong and perfectly portrayed the ugliness of power and greed; the special effects were...there are no words to describe the effects! Zoe Saldana was superb as Nateri. She was so believable in the role of warrior princess. I just spoke to a friend about the movie. He was going tonight and remembered something else he has planned. He's going tomorrow (Sunday). I'm going to see it again next week!

AVATAR is by far my favorite movie for 2009. To get the best out of it I recommend you see the IMAX 3D. I have seen it 3x. Reg, 3D and IMAX 3D. You get to see more of the details on a larger screen. Regardless, the movie is so good it can be seen without the 3D and it would still be my favorite. It's a must see. Enjoy!

I will start off by saying I am NOT a science fiction fan. I knew little about the movie a few days ago but was STRONGLY encouraged to go see it in IMAX 3D by my cousin and her husband. The story line is not complex and everything was predictable. Subsequently, I came away amazed with the computer animation and the multiple messages that were evident. What messages you ask? Feminism, conquest over Native people, environmentalism, and integrity. As someone who loves thinking, feeling movies, I loved it. There is so much for so many different interests. Go see it!

The movie is a long one, but it's the quickest long movie I've watched in a long time. The Imax 3D literally puts you in the middle of the action. Awesome graphics and sound complete a very interesting if predicatable plot line. Not to be missed.
