Loved it... saw it in imax 3d. I go to the movies about once every 5-8 years so I wanted the full experience. This was a masterpiece. Exceptional graphics. Such a well balanced film....with simple story line, exceptional graphics...character development and just the right amount of action. No overloads. This is one that i would see again.Great film!

An incredible movie that should be seen in IMAX 3D. At first you think about the 3D and how cool it is, but then you begin to live in the experience and don't think much about the technology. The plot certainly requires "suspension of disbelief", but it is fantasy/science fiction after all. The sound was incredible, too. And the world James Cameron created is amazing and colorful. See it on the really big screen, but see it!

Amazing special effects particularly in 3D on the IMAX screen. Well worth it even though you get a little bit of eyestrain during this long movie. It sets the new standard for computer generated effects. Loved it and definitely would recommend that everyone see it on the big screen first. The only thing that keeps me from a five star rating is the slightly cheesy dialogue in some spots and a little bit of stereotypical two-dimensional characterization. Other than that, a great movie!

I went into this movie thinking it was going to be cool but left amazed and wanting more! My son even said he wanted to see it again! The detail was amazing, and I believe the storyline good! It was touching exciting, a little side humor....for me and my son it had it all. The only thing I didn't like was how the 3D glasses sat on my face, but that in no way took away from the movie! a must see of 2009/2010!

I expected to be entertained, and for this movie to be exciting- I almost can't describe how incredible it was! Beyond my expectations, yes! The story line was excellent, but it was the visual, 3-D experience- being "in" the movie- that made this so good. The details of the other world, in such a contrast to ours, and the conflict between the two races, created a reality totally believable. I laughed, cringed, got angry, jumped, loved and cried and when the movie ended, I wanted to go and live there....
I'm definitely seeing it again!!!!!

Very good movie. Long but kept my interest the entire time. Loved the special effects and it's a movie that will someday be a classic. It is very unusual and very entertaining. The kind of movie you talk about after leaving the theater.

Well I got to see Avatar in normal theater, 3D theater, and IMAX 3D. I would have to say this movie was graphically the best movie ever. The IMAX experience was like nothing I had ever seen or experience in a movie and I would say I have seen about four times the amount of theater movies more then the average person. Pros for this movie would be amazing graphics, awesome character development, intense action and awesome imagination. Only Con I have heard was the story line however, I feel that it was perfect because of the graphics being so good that an in-riched story would of lost to many people cause your trying to find your jaw on the ground from the graphics.

Graphically, there is no comparison. Storywise, I've heard it before. (Pocahontas, anyone?) But despite the story being retold, it was a very moving piece and it was told fantastically in a way that did not have raccoons. I loved it, and I can't think of anything bad about it.

The movie had a fairly linear storyline. We've all seen this story a hundred times - it's a very familiar progression. But, it HAD to be that way. The story allowed us to focus on the magnificent visual effects, without clutter and distractions. It's a groundbreaking film, and sets the standard for everything to follow.

The movie was everything I hoped for, and more. Beautiful, imaginative, fantastic, emotional.
However, we reserved our tickets (and paid for them online) and when we got there, someone else was sitting in them. IMAX had double-sold the tickets. We had to sit in uncomfortable chairs in the back of the theater.

It had amazing special effects and graphics. Would not recommend for young children to watch it because of certain scenes, but it was overall very excellent. It left me in awe. I really feel that everyone (who are at a certain age and older) should watch it and will like it. It had good messages which will leave you thinking.

Watching Avatar in 3D on the IMAX wsa amazing. The animation and effects created a great all-encompassing atmosphere that sucked the viewer into the movie. The action sequences and the panaoramic views traveling through this invented world were amazing to experience - and it truly was much more of an experience than just a "viewing".
The movie itself is just okay. Their are many interesting and well developed characters and the acting (can you still call voice-overs of computer generated characters acting?) was good. But the overall story was rather preachy and a little cliche (earth good - corporations and greed bad).

I was inspired to see this movie in IMAX/3D by the coming attractions. I was not disappointed. I was overwhelmed by the color, the majesty of the views, soaring panorama and the innovative use of CG animation. It takes movie viewing to a whole new level. I am talking about seeing it again to see the things I am sure I missed first time thru. The story was an old told in a completely new way and it I am hooked. Give me more.

I had high hopes for this movie but it surpassed all my expectations. The visuals were astounding and the story touching. I saw it in 3D at regular theater but IMAX was 10 times better. I thing the visuals are best apprecated in IMAX.

This was the best movie expeirance i have ever had! the problem is now that i have witnessed this 3D adventure for the first time, no 2D movie will be good enough. All you can say is "star wars woulda been better in 3D, can you imagion what pirates of the carrobean woulda been like in 3D"...ect. So even thoe it was absolutely amazing and i totally reccomend everyone to go see it and take family and friends so you can talk about and remember the day you witnessed this movie! 2D movies will soon be outdated and boreing.

went in knowing of all the excellent reviews and that the only critic to it was that the story was "too simple" or "weak" or "plain plot". Not so, i found the story very touching, personal with twists and turns. being african, could definitely relate to it... the IMAX 3D was an amazing experience, me stretching out my hand to grab onto flowers, etc .. me think it should be a crime for theaters to release a movie less than 3D, with my aunt screaming at the back, this should definitely be the future of horror movies

While I'm not a greenie, I did notice the correlation to the American Indians and how they treated the earth and were one with the universe. It shows what the human race has done to the planet and this reminds us that we should be more careful with the planet that we have. Let’s leave some green on the ground and pass it on down to the next generation. Other than that I thought it was a great movie, strong story line and very enjoyable. I also have never written a review and this is the first, that’s how much I enjoyed the movie. I can’t wait for this movie to come out on DVD so that I can add it to my collection (I don’t always buy the movies I see on DVD).
