Forget any other movie you've ever seen. This is a whole new medium. Granted, it was my first 3D movie since the '60s but I was totally blown away.

This was only my second IMAX 3D experience and I am still very impressed with the 3D sensation. The story line and plot was a classic good vs. evil with evil triumphing overcoming tremendous odds. The special effects were excellent. The sound was great but somewhat loud for where I was sitting. Even though the story could have been told in less than 2 hours 40 minutes it was a pleasant entertainment experience and I would recommend it to others.

This movie was unlike any movie every made and it's hard to imagine that it will be topped from a visual stand point.
Yes, the story isn't the best, but Cameron did have an interesting way of explaining why all of the natives on the planet were connected. For that reason alone I give the story a pass.
It is without a question a must-see movie. See it in Imax-3D if you can.

I wasn't expecting to enjoy Avatar nearly as much as I did. I went with my 68 year old mother who loves computer-digital effects and my 48 year old husband who loves action and Sci-Fi. I like both but when I feel overrun by stimulation overload, I tend to yawn. We arrived at an over-filled IMAX theater the day after Christmas and spent the first 10 minutes searching for seats. I was quickly absorbed into the lush tropical forest of Pandora. And I was pleased to find likable characters and expressive faces. The nature-lovers, humanists, sci-fi techies, war-action mongers, and those in love with a sweet old-fashioned love story should really enjoy this film. The 2 hour 40 minute length didn't even make me squirm in my uncomfortable seat.

the animation and effects make it easy to get lost in the story. The screen was constantly alive, you felt like you were a part of the action almost like a disney ride!
If you haven't seen this in IMAX, you need to.

Saw this film in IMAX, wasnt sure what to expect, it moved from the first 5 minutes and didnt stop moving the entire 2hours 40 minutes. The underlying message about destroying the environment is there but not preached to you. The obvious similarity of the native people and Native Americans is very clear and is a clear reminder how cruel and selfish man can be. Even with these social messages the film was still amazing and greatly entertaining. I would see it a second time just to see the effects.

Wow...the visual enhancements were amazing..Makes the HD tv at home seem like the old black and white tv. The story line was ok and meaningful..but the graphics sold the movie.

This movie was AWSOME! For me i'd say it is my new favorite movie of all time, actually. Took the whole family to watch it...no one was dissapointed. I hear others say that the story was cliche and/or too simple...well..it has been told before but never in this exact way and never this well. I think the beauty of the story is in fact in it's simplicity because it allows a lot more people (age, ethnic differences) to understand this movie rather than a specific chosen few. Great movie! Great effects, great sound and music, great plot, great pacing....just go see it if you haven't, 3D or otherwise, everyone should see this milestone of a film.

Great 3D experience. The animation was wonderful. With all the scenerie and colors I had a bit of trouble paying attention to the plot.
We will go back next weekend and watch it again. There was a bit if distortion when it came to the humans. Heads looked out of proportion to the bodies.

the most incredible movie experience I have ever had! Not the greatest movie ever, but a very great movie.
It was like Alien meets Dances With Wolves meets Braveheart. It was fantastical, had a meaningful story line, action packed and a great love story. What more could you ask for?
The only disappointment was the theater I saw it in had technical problems with the Imax equipment. It took about 30 mins for them to recalibrate it. Add that to the length of the movie and I was ready to get out of my seat when it was over.
It was so far beyond what I thought was possible, it made me glad that we live in a world with big dreamers and talented pioneers like James Cameron.

This movie was so awesome. Probably the greattest movie watching experience of my life (in the last 10 years at least). Try to see it at the IMAX and definitely make sure you see it in 3D. Good plot, great storyline, and awesome graphics. The IMAX was expensive but worth it. Go see it!
