The movie stayed very true to the book and had a great stopping point. About the only "bad" thing I can say about the movie is that it would completely lose first-time Harry Potter moviegoers, but really- are there any of those left? lol I hope they release Part 1 and Part 2 together on DVD as you will definitely need both to complete the story- can't wait until July!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I thought the movie was great- it delivered exactly what it promised- a rip on the Twilight franchise. I'm actually one of those rare male Twilight fans, and thought that it was well done. The actress that played the fake Bella was outstanding- she nailed Kristen Stewart's mannerisms down pat. There were some not-as-funny parts- it would have been better to mix the culture references to include some of us older folks, but otherwise a very funny flick.
I would definitely recommend seeing the movie in Imax 3D, although the price was a bit expensive for the 1:38 run time. The story, animation and voice acting were supurb! It was a really great movie which will be an instant classic- both my kids (ages 7 and 10) and I loved it! Kudos to Dreamworks!
This was a film where truly the full utilization of visual effects were made, while also telling a strong, compelling story. One of the best films ever made... One doesn't just see this film, you experience it!
I took my 7-yr-old to the movie without really knowing much about the background. It started off just like most other animated sci-fi kids movies do, then when the human version of Toby gets atomized, I knew we were in for something much more serious. "Astroboy" is very similar to "A.I." in that it explores very simlilar themes- a human-like robot used as a replacement for a deceased child, subesequent rejection and search for acceptance. This movie was not as dark as "A.I" as acceptance was eventually obtained, but it may have been a bit much for my 7-yr-old to grasp. The animation was great, but I don't know if I liked Nicholas Cage as the father. Overall, a very interesting movie, but it should be marketed to a different target audience.
The 1st Zombie film had some really great char actors including the girl from Forrest Gump as Michael's older sister. The kid they cast as little Michael in the 1st one was also great- he was approp. creepy. I was a bit disapptd that they did not bring him back on this this one. I agree with the other posters that the ghost thing was a bad idea, and served to distract rather than forward the plot. It just seemed to purposed to give Mr. Zombie's wife more screen time. I also did not like the "angry" Michael- he didn't just kill his victims, he was determ. to destroy their mangled corpses. Bottom line, this movie was was a disappointment and Mr. Zombie could have done much better.
