yes, like everyone said the special effects will blow you away. but the story itself is spectacular regardless of what others say. yes, there have been similar stories like dances with wolves, but it lives on because its a timeless story - it left me with a nostaligic feeling, that the way the "savages" were living was the most natural, happiest way to live, and we have completely lost it... but maybe we can get back to it, considering people like james cameron are there to remind us... in his words, "i want to put a flower in every gun barrel, but i do believe in peace through superior firepower" - made me consider the difference between defensive violence and reckless indifferent violence... it will leave you thinking and feeling a lot

This was a great movie. Even though it was almost 3 hours long, it was filled with action the entire time. In fact, the very end seemed rushed. Overall, a really great experience.

This movie was highly entertaining for all ages and kept the audience captivated through out. There were acouple instances where the whole theatre jumped at unexpected peaks. The 3-D viewing was taken to new heighths in this movie extravaganza. My family of 4 all loved it. My graphic art design degree son enjoyed it so much he's already seen it twice. It will be a hot movie for quite a while.

Can't begin to describe how revolutionary this movie is! The beginning was a little slow, but it began to build and build to an incredible climatic ending.
I highly recommend seeing it in IMAX 3D. You don't want to miss any feature of this amazing movie.

I am amazed at what they are able to do now and how they've perfected the reality of water, hair, skin and the overall aspect of 3D. The story line tho 2.5 hours went by with ease and actually leaving me wanting more. The overall experience enhanced by 3D Glasses and IMAX takes it to the extreme. Great Movie

Avatar is absolutely an amazing visual film experience. There is no question that from this standpoint this is a game changer. I’d go again based solely on the visual thrill Cameron produced. However, I must say that the script was less than weak, even Disney-ish. If you’re going to spend $500,000,000 to make a film, spend a couple thousand for a story that is interesting and a script that isn’t completely predicable. 5 stars visual, 1 star script.

We saw the Imax 3D version of Avatar - highly recommended! You feel like you're inside the screen, flying debris about to smack you! A touching story, the Na'vi people seem real, engendering sympathy to their crisis. You must see this on the big screen - the special effects transport you into a fantasy world where you want to stay! The real world could learn something from this movie!

Cameron has a deft hand when it comes to blockbusters. Now, he uses his wonderful treatment of the strong woman along with the newest moviemaking techniques to create a great fantasy. Or is it allegory? We know we are destroying this planet. Perhaps this will be one more warning - and one that could be heeded.
If you have had trouble with the new 3D systems, this iteration was wonderful and better on the eyes. Well worth it.

Watched this over the weekend and love it. Great story. Stunning visual effect. The only thing that does not stand out is the theme song... Worth an IMAX 3D experience. At the end of the movie we heard applause, indicating many others enjoyed it too.
If you decide to go, go early to pick a good seat. We went half an hour before the start time and there was already almost 100 people waiting in line...

My first 3D IMAX experience, and it was a good choice for the medium. The visuals definitely live up to the hype. The planet is stunning and really comes to life in 3D. You feel like you're actually THERE in this lush otherworldly jungle.
The predictable plot pushes a heavy-handed "environmentalism good/ capitalism bad" agenda and the story suffers from it. Still, it's a great ride up until the last third of the movie when characters start making incongruous decisions to stay in step with The Message. Our protagonist's "conversion" is only slightly more plausible than Anakin Skywalker's switch to the Dark Side.
All in all, well worth seeing in IMAX, even if only for the spectacular visuals.

Once every decade or so, a movie comes along that is so groundbreaking, so visually stunning, that it becomes the standard against which other movies of the genre are held up against and judged. In 1977, this movie was "Star Wars", in 1991 it was "Terminator 2", in 1999 it was "The Matrix", and in 2001 "The Lord of the Rings Trilogy". "Avatar" is the 2009 submission to this list of venerable films. The special effects in this film are truly phenomenal. This film must be experienced in 3D on the big screen and preferably in IMAX. Even if you are not a science fiction fan, I highly recommend you see this movie. Trust me, you will NOT be disappointed!

This movie was perfect, from start to finish. There was enough action to keep you interested, but not so much that it bores you by the end of the movie. Along with the captivating plot and interesting characters, there was a moral to the story that is a real eye-opener. I haven't seen a movie of this caliber in a very long time. The originality and the lack of profanity made the movie refreshing, especially since the new trend seems to be foul language and inappropriate innuendos. Overall, it's a 5 star, two thumbs up, awesome movie.

This movie is by far one of the best I have watched in a long time I have been watching most of my movies on Blu-ray but when I saw this in the Imax theatre I was reminded of what can be done in a movie theatre and this movie was just awesome I will be buying the Blu-ray when it comes out and I have already told dozens of people they should go see it in 3D.

I dismissed the usual Liberal Hollywood overtones (which is getting easier and easier to do it seems, because it's to be expected in almost every movie) before the movie began and sat back and let the movie take me on it's journey.
Make no mistake; there will be no acting award nominations from this movie, but who cares? The movie was awesome. The effects and visualizations were out of this world (pardon the pun). And yes the movie is very long, but I feel that I really got my money's worth. Leave your expectations and critic hat at home and enjoy the ride!

Excellent graphics, nice storyline, the IMAX 3D experience is a must to see! I think they left room for a sequel..we'll see.. I would like to see it a 2nd time! The colors and special effects were cool! It rocks!

A must watch... for all fans of CGI. Avatar takes 3D CGI anime to a new level, may be a new of imaginative manifestation has begun w/ it. The plot may not be as revolutionary as can be, the execution/direction nonetheless is. Pandora is the lush, tranquil dreamland that exists in everyone's (almost) heart somewhere sometime, expressions are conveying and compelling, the emotions traditional and undying. For a true cinematic experience go watch it!! Enjoyed!
