This movie was so great I saw it 4 times..3 of which was in 3D. I think everyone should see it at the Imax in 3D its so like you wish there was such a place. Makes me wish there was a place like Pandora to go on vacation to lol

In Imax 3D- you are transported to another world- fully immersed in the experience. Visually it is stunning, colorful and real. The story is a beautiful tale of consciousness, human connection and the powers of Mother Earth. A must see

Saw this movie in IMAX 3D - special effects were incredible and well worth seeing. The story line is simplistic and predictable. In fact it was bordering on annoying stereotypes - but that's James Cameron for you. Overlook the plot and enjoy the scenery!

This is visually the most amazing movie I have ever seen. I saw it in IMAX 3-D and would suggest that format to best appreciate the special effects and eye popping scenes. The story however, is an almost exact sience fiction remake of Dances With Wolves. There are no plot twists in this movie but the visual appeal make it worth seeing.

Definitely worth seeing. It has a strong "Dances With Wolves" type of story and amazing visuals. You know your seeing CGI, but it blends so seamlessly with the live action that you forget it's CGI. The 3D pulled you in and made you as if you're in the movie. I had no problem with a 2 hr. 40 min movie with 3D glasses. This would be a great movie even without the 3D.

Saw an early showing, which was not crowded at all. The movie itself was great, a sci-fi/ fantasy treatment of the pro-green and anti-war issues in our post-9/11 world, but the real kudos go to the stunning effects. IMAX in 3D and the surround sound immerse you in the film like never before. This is the future of entertainment! James Horner's soundtrack was equally moving. My family wants to see it again- it just won't be the same on DVD. Highly recommended while it's in the theater, and make sure it's in 3D!

Phenomenal movie with eye popping special efforts. The colors and scenery were extodinary. The detail in the flora and fauna was amazing. Went to see with adult daughter and wife and they both loved it.
Story was very thin but special effects worth the movie.

This is a long movie - about an hour too long. The plot is age old. The dialogue droll. The visuals were very good, however, I expected a greater 3D experience....a presence of characters and objects in the theater - it happened only a couple of times. The Honey I Shrunk the Kids at Disneyland has more of that effect. Thought I was watching an old western. The transformers and the long lankingness of the planet residents reminded me of Star Wars. An average movie -

A thoroughly enjoyable movie as long as you can overlook the environmental PC, anti-capitalist and anti-military messages.
The technology and biology are plausible, making a good SF story. Stunning Imax 3D, good love story. I'll go see it again.

Pocahontas's plot, with even more cartoonish & undeveloped bad guys. Stretched out over 3 hours of really beautiful scenery and special effects. Even my Sci-fi geek hubby got bored. What a waste of impressive technology.

Not as good as I'd heard. The 3D is mediocre at best. The 3D in the Previews was better than the 3D in the movie. Old, tired, re-tread of a story I've already seen a gazillion times. They didn't even TRY to update it. They still have feathers & bows while we have Guns. We get it, BAD WHITE MAN, BAD! The visuals were nice, the characters were elongated so you didn't notice the "stiff arm" animation where muscles don't contract & spread. The Facial recognition and expressions were STUNNING. No "Dead eye" here. As usual with Cameron films, lots of 3rd rate characters we're supposed to care about when they sacrifice themselves, but don't.
Overall, it was a decent movie but the Visuals DO NOT make up for the lame story.

The effects and cinematography was outstanding. The IMAX 3-D was definately worth it and highly recommended. The storyline was predictable and a bit overdone at the end. I could have lived without the last hour. It was very loud and yes, the glasses were very uncomfortable and I did leave with a headache.
Overall, I loved the movie and definately would only see it in 3-d.

James Cameron immerses the viewer and draws them into the world of "Avatar". The sights and sounds are brilliant. Avatar is like taking a vacation to an exciting and beautiful yet dangerous location. It reminded me of diving the Great Barrier reef with the vivid colors and strange wildlife. The story is epic, the visuals stunning, and James Horners score accents the action perfectly. This is not a movie to be missed. Don't pass on the 3D experience on a large screen. I saw it in both Real 3D and IMAX 3D. I'm 50 years old and was blown away by this experience. What will James Cameron do to top this? I can't imagine!

Stunning visual experience, raises the bar for technology-centric cinema. (Although the 3-D glasses are a bit uncomfortable and the IMAX screen I saw the movie on was not all-enveloping as I expected.)
The plot, as has been mentioned by many others, is quite derivative, and, in my opinion, has an unrealistic ending -- the indigenous people win. In the real world, they would be decimated.

It is a movie that allows your imagination to soar, while at the same time to weave into the story, social and environmental issues that affect all of us on our planet. There is also a very spiritual side of this film. This movie brought back the excitement I had in 1977 when I first saw Star Wars.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this movie. I went to see in IMAX 3D and while this film is long and nearly 3 hours in length it is filled with action, suspense, romance, humor and keeps you guessing til the bitter end.
The special effects are outstanding, often you feel like you are witnessing this world through another's eyes.

The movie itself was awesome. Even my wife enjoyed it thoroughly. The glasses were so tight and non-adjustable, that after a 2hrs 40mins movie, we both left with headaches and permanent dents in our heads. The darn screen was so much smaller than the IMAX I am used to, very dissappointing.

Big, loud and visually stimulating, the story was overdone, too long, too predictable, too heavy-handed and borrowed too much from too many other movies. If you have kids who just "have to see the movie" (and most of them will "have to" and will love it) the IMAX experience is the only way to go.

very very good special effects storyline mimics old kids cartoon ferngully slightly too long by about 25 minutes or so and predictable outcome but still a moving film
