I went to see what the fuss was about. I expected it to be a good movie, but I didnt expect it to knock my socks off the way it had!
Great movie for anyone! Well, everyone except for ultra-conservative stick in the mud types. If thats you, stay home and spare the rest of us your complaints. If not - share the experience of this movie with your friends and family. There is no better reason to visit your local IMAX - its not just for school field trips any more! lol

I really didn't know what to expect other than I was told that I should watch this movie in 3D. Wow!!! I was impressed. Everything was fantastic! The story line was great as well as the graphics. Someone definitely has a creative imagination. Can't wait for this to come out on dvd.

3-D effects are outstanding. Incredible attention to detail. Story was good, albeit predictable. It's "Dances With Wolves" in the future.

This movie has something for everyone. The stoyline touches on topics as broadranging as US imperialism, rainforest conservation, dying indigenous cultures, even the plight of the disabled. But the main reason to see it is definitely the stunningly immersive 3D world of Pandora in all its splendour. Set aside the 2hrs 41 min, and lay down the extra dollars to see it in IMAX 3D, you'll be glad you did.

This was truly a great film. The CGI was fantastic, the storyline was interesting, and the actors were all great too. The movie must be seen in IMAX 3D to get the best experience, I think. Go see it as soon as possible.

I saw this movie in IMAX 3D and it just made the experience better! The plot and acting are amazing, the animation is spectacular! This movie is a glimpse into what might happen if we go to a different planet.

The story is a bit predictable, but not such that it detracts from its entertainment value. In fact, I think that it is the story's adherence to common archetypes and a classic character progression which makes it so appealing to such a wide audience. In all, James Cameron does an excellent job of keeping the viewer completely engrossed in the film--I found that the nearly 3 hours passed by all too quickly, leaving me wishing I could stay on Pandora just a little bit longer each time.

In 3-D IMAX, Avatar is visually stunning. What a beautiful world to visit! The storyline is not particularly original--Dances With Wolves meets Ferngully--but the experience is worth every penny of the price. I may have to see it again.

This is one of the best movies I have ever seen. My husband and I aren't much for going to movies to often, but we have seen this 3 times. It grabs your attention and holds it all thru the movie. It leaves you wanting to know more about what happens after. It is going to be really hard to top this one. It is a must see.

Beyond the visually mind-blowing look and feel of Avatar (in Imax 3D), some audiences question the integrity of the story and overall message it delivers. New age ideas set in a futuristic style with an age-old storyline aimed at current events may seem like a gamble for some moviegoers. Any other film with that kind of atmosphere would feel like being force-fed someone’s political views and beliefs. But throw in a huge production budget, elegant special effects, a brand new planet, cool new creatures, and a pair of fashionable 3D glasses, and you’ve got yourself a spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down. It may be just what we need after all, despite what side of the fence we’re sitting on.

Indeed this film takes you to a world you've never seen. Action mixed with a love story and animation in which there is no comparison makes this movie a winner. In my opinion the 3D enhances the story and makes it come alive. I would highly recommend this film mainly for adults as it does have somethings that might frighten children. Great film!

My husband and I avoided all trailers/commercials/hype/reviews for this movie before seeing it this weekend. I think it really helped us to just watch the movie on our own without any initial biases. We enjoyed the movie tremendously, especially the gorgeous IMAX 3D experience. Avatar was the first 3D movie I feel used the technology to the fullest extent and did it well. Nicely done, James Cameron!

When I first heard about this film, I formed prejudices and entirely expected some action and SFX-pumped adrenaline machine. Nothing could be further from the truth. Every aspect of Avatar was carefully formed by master filmmakers. I highly recommend this wonderful movie to everyone, as its appeal is broad. The visuals, the story, the characters, the score, etc. You will not be disappointed.

Wonderful use of 3-D animation. Exciting film from beginning to end. I especially loved the attention to detail of even the smallest images like the flying insects. The plot was ordinary, but the planet Pandora was the best part of the movie. It was uncomfortable to watch as the US military was portrayed as this one-dimensional, evil empire, but, loved how the scientists were part of the good guys.

What an experience this was. Way better then I could have ever imaganed. I could not tell the difference from real actors to computor generated anamations. I knew it had to be there, I couldn't tell the split. This will rate as one of the best movies I have ever seen. I wanted to go again right after seeing this movie. Only movie I have ever felt the same about was Raiders of the lost ark!

I think this movie will be considered as important as the Star Wars original movie in progressing the reality of "the force" and life's essential connectedness. The concept of spirit migration or transferabiltiy is an important new element portrayed in this movie. I didn't like the animal killing and I would have preferred the movie not have so closely resembled the American native American culture in language etc. I recommend it in 3D imax.

Most of the buzz I've heard about this movie has been about the special effects. And, to be sure, they are the best I've ever experienced (especially in IMAX 3D). The CGI is so well woven into the film, that you very easily forget Pandora and the Navi don't exist anywhere but in software. However, had the story not been so engrossing and the acting so effective (particularly by Zoe Saldana), I don't think this film would have been as engrossing as it is.

This movie is a wonderful example of human innovation put to work. If you can dream it, it can be done. James Cameron really outdid himself, literally. If you thought Titanic was good, you'll practically be bowing at the theatre staff after you've seen this movie...no, experienced this. Truly a one-of-its-kind film that I would gladly pay to see in the IMAX theatre in 3D again and again.
The acting was superb and the effects literally out-of-this-world!

There's no question this movie was beautiful to watch, but the plot was so thin and full of holes it was like watching a childrens movie. It's hard to believe that they spent that much money on the effects and couldn't come up with a more believable plotline. If I wouldn't have watched it in 3D on the Imax it totally wouldn't have been worth it.

While the plot may seem a little familiar (if you've seen Pocahontas- you'll know where the story is going) but that doesn't matter. Visually, the movie is so stunning, and the action sequences are so compelling that I was completely mesmerized. I also found some of its themes dealing with the insanity of war, our abuse of the environment, and our inter-connectivity to one another and our planet, to be quite poignant.
See it in 3D IMAX- for a heightened experience.
