Although my theatre is not a true Imax Experience, just a larger screen, I thought that this movie was beyond what I could have imagined. I loved all the details. Terrific movie. You can easily get sucked into being part of the world. I had high expectations going into this movie, and I was surprised to see that my expectations went over and beyond. I would see it again. I hope the DVD comes with the 3D glasses or something because I think that 3D made it eve better.

To really appreciate this movie you got to see it in an IMAX! The movie is long, sometimes even slow but you are so amazed by special effects that you forget about the plot of the movie. I did liked the movie but with 3 small kids your opinion changes on what is a good movie. Its a good movie to take the kids. It gives a perspective on how nature is tied to us and all living things. Also shows how we destroy our resources to make money without seen the consequences.

While the plot is somewhat predictable and looks to be “Pocahontas” and “Dancing with Wolves” combined, the cinematography and 3-D immersion in an IMAX format will ruin any other movie for you. The jump in the movie going experience is amazing. I have seen other movies in IMAX, but this sets the bar and future of expectations for movies going forward. A must see for anyone.

When I saw Star Wars, a friend said "Just another Western". Try not to think of that when they bring out the horses!
The integration of 3D scenery and humanoid action really sets the standard for the future.And the depiction of "plants" was mind-boggling.
I was disappointed in Cameron's political slant -- every bad guy was a white guy who was "not young". Almost "to laugh".
All of that political stuff aside, this is an earth-shattering film that will change the course of the genre for years to come. Bring on the back story; bring on the sequel. NOW!

First, I'll say the picture is vivid and the 3d is not overdone. Lovely to see.
That being said, the storyline is quite weak. SPOILER ALERT: Soldier sent to fight a peaceful and primitive people for their resources, falls in love with culture and girl, turns on his masters, battles ensue, peaceful people win. The movie's message is way outdated and thus a poor spend of the $100mm plus this film cost to produce.
Go see it. Take your teenage relatives. But don't get fooled into thinking that the extinction of primitive civilizations is anywhere near the top of our planet's challenges today.

Okay, so the plotline is very standard, really. Avatar doesn't push the envelope with that. What it DOES do magnificently though the world, both graphically and in terms of how it is set up. You REALLY feel for the Na'vi people by the end of the movie. I would highly recommend this film, and if you do see it, it is WORTH it to spend the extra money for IMAX. I've seen it both in IMAX and RealD, and it's also worth the extra buck for the IMAX. Just make sure you get good seats!

This epic tale of Pandora is the most visually exciting movie I have ever seen. You have heard of 'paradise', now you can see what it looks like. The beauty, the colors, the creatures,,, who has an imagination like that? As if that weren't enough, the story line is stimulating and engaging... it also brings forth a lesson to all who see it to be kind to 'our mother'.

Avatar is a work of genius. The graphics literally put you into the land of Pandora and you actually feel like this place could be real. The characters seem lifelike and there was never a time it was cheesy or fake. If you enjoy escaping into another world for a couple of hours and want to indulge in a beautiful story, Avatar is a great choice.

My son talked me into seeing this movie. I must admit I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was long, but there was no scene that you thought could have been left out. Every age can relate to the story and the characters. The 3D IMAX experience was fabulous! It was like being immersed in the movie! I usually wait for the DVD but more movies like this would get me in the theatre more often.

I must confess, from the first poster and teaser trailer for Avatar, I really did not like the look of the Nav' i as blue people with tails. The Theatrical Trailer reasured me some what but not until seeing it at midnight on a Imax 3D screen did all my doubts fade away with what turned out to be the best movie experience of my life. Of course it has a basic story line, but you don't really notice it with such a magnificent world that makes you feel you are on Pandora. Even if you don't care for Sci-fi films like my self, you will enjoy the ride that millions of people have begun to enjoy over and over again!

This is like no other movie! It is visually stunning, yet has no digital obstructions and everything flows very well. I saw it twice and plan on seeing it again!! You will not be disappointed.

Say what you will about James Cameron and his hefty ego, but the man is a creative force.
I'm very glad that my passion for the movies brought me to see this film. The trailer for Avatar did not entice me. I merely went to the movie to see what all the fuss was about. Lucky me. The film is an epic filled with amazing beauty and imagination, forbidden love, racism, and the sanctity of nature.
See it and be amazed.

I loved the message of environmentalism that underlies this story, and it was embedded in a first-rate plot. The CG effects are spectacular. I would have preferred a bit less in the way of battle scenes and a deeper development of how much humans have trashed their own planet by 2154, but that's a minor criticism.
The 3D glasses don't work well for someone who wears glasses for myopia. They were too small to comfortably fit over my glasses, and, if I put the 3D specs on first and my glasses over them, the fit was OK, but the 3D didn't work. Clip-on 3D lenses for eyeglasses, with no legs, would have solved this problem. If you're near-sighted, wear contact lenses if you have them!

Avatar had very stunning graphics and the 3D is great. The story line is OK but at 2 hours and 40 minutes, it is a bit long. The part about Jake getting to know the natives as well as the battle scene could have both been shorter.

I saw this movie in 3-D IMAX. The production was just amazing! The non-human creatures and machinery were done so well that one would think they really existed. No more clumsy Jurassic Park animations. This is movie technology at its best, imaginative, detailed, and superbly executed.
Plot-wise, it turned out to be the typical Hollywood tired old theme with a hero, his lover, good guys and bad guys, even though the beginning of the movie was filled with great originality and beauty,
However, the technology of the whole production carried the movie and it held its own as an outstanding example of the latest movie-making technology. Absolutely impressive!

I was enertained from beginning to end in this epic. The 3D was stunning and you often forgot about the glasses you were wearing since the movie absorbed you into it. The story is familiar, but still a good one.. and it's never been told in this way. Great movie!

that's what it is. if you liked dances with wolves, or the last samurai, this will work for you. if you didn't like the formentioned movies because of the sad ending, again this movie is for you. the visuals are enough of a reason to go see this in 3d imax though. totally worth the 15 bucks.

Overall, this movie was fantastic. Yes, it is long but you never feel bored. There isn't a lull in the storyline so you don't remember that you've been sitting there for 3 hours. The visual effects were unbelieveable. I was thoroughly impressed. You really feel like you've been transported to another world. And the acting was equally as impressive. I don't think Oscar worthy but still superb. James Cameron out did himself with this one and I saw Titanic twice in the theaters. I'll definitely see Avatar again.

First time seeing a movie with IMAX and 3D.
Loved that part. The movie was fantastic.. Awesome... Great visual affects.. Great story line.. Would loved to have been a part of the movie..Wasn't quite sure how it would end..

I have watched this movie in the theater for three times now, the first two 3D and the last one imax 3D. The Imax is overwhelming. I can say that I do not mind watching it for the 4th time.

The Imax/3D version of Avatar was quite the spectacle. I was a little unsure of how the 3D would work, but the effect is incredible. Several times I felt I could reach out and grab items in front of me and it gets you immersed in the movie. The plot line is familiar and predictable, but the acting is good enough and the pace is fast, so you don't mind. I would definitely see it in 3D and if you have an IMAX theater near you- it's worth the extra money.

I saw Avatar in 3D on an IMAX screen. It was visually stunning. It has ruined standard movies for me in the future. Though, to me, the story line was a little too simple. It was basically a movie about evil cowboys vs good Indians with a heavy dash of "An Inconvenient Truth" mixed in. It managed to be PC and environmental activist at the same time. Don't get me wrong. I really enjoyed the movie and I'm very happy to have gotten to experience it in 3D.
