This is the Best Movie I have ever seen. It was my first IMAX film and will NOT be the last. The 3D effects were fantastic. I felt like I was in the movie. I even ducked a few times to miss flying debris. There were times that I laughed, times I was on the edge of my seat, and times I cried! I had no desire to see this movie when the trailers first came out. I'm over joyed that I was talked in to going! I would kick myself if I had missed my opportunity to see this in IMAX 3D! Don't miss your opportunity!

Saw this movie at the IMAX in 3D. The graphics made the movie. Story plot was lame and has been done a 1000 times before. They spend all this money to make the film and create this entire world yet put no effort into any sort of decent plot.

Avatar is technically astonishing, but emotionally unsatisfying. The special effects reach a new level of innovation, but in the service of shopworn ideas and subject matter. The movie feels like a cross between Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, with 3-d thrown in. Moviegoers hooked on sensationalism will love this film, and they should see it in IMAX 3-D to get the full experience. But don't expect to leave the theatre with your soul enriched.

Even though the cost of IMAX Movies is high, especially for a family of 4, this is the only way to see this film. The 3D enhanced the experience especially during the flying scenes. You really felt that you were part of the film, not just watching it. Truly amazing film!!!!

I wasn't that interested in seeing this movie...at first. After the reviews I read, it became more and more interesting. Let me tell ya, it is everything it is cracked up to be and more. The story line is pretty predictable, but doesn't matter. You get so lost in a world, that you will easily overlook its blemishes (which aren't many). Avatar is a great film that will bring out all sorts of emotions...One of them will be that you wish YOU could be a Na'vi...

Amazing special effects! The cinematography and the overall amount of detail was mind-blowing. Recommended in IMAX 3-D! While the storyline isn't the best (imo), the effects make up for any story gaps. Saw it twice already...I just might have to see it again!

Never in my most vivid imagination did I ever think that a movie could be such a magical and simply beautiful experience. We went with a couple who had seen it TWICE before, 3D no IMAX & they said that the IMAX experience totally made it so much better, both visually and sound-wise. My wife HATES anything having to do with SciFi & she LOVED this movie. The character development, the story, the dialog, the underlying messages, are all very satisfying, but the visual scenes are simply stunning. Prepare to suck in air as one scene after another replace some of the most beautiful sights you've ever seen in your life. Do something really, really good for yourself go see this movie with someone you love, or at least like & go see it at 3D IMAX

Maybe it was all the hype and rave reviews that got my expectations up, but Avatar didn't live up to them at all. The only thing that prevented me from leaving midway is the Imax and 3D experience (hence the two stars)....not the story (think it was a mash of a couple of other top grossers), not the acting (and Sigourney Weaver is one of my favs), not even the dialogues or editing.
Guess having friends in the film fraternity makes you extra critical...would only recommend it to a few guys who like things dolled up and those who have no better option.

It was the first time that my husband and I have been to an Imax theater. What a great first experience to be able to see such a high quality film as Avatar 3D. We would definitely recommend this film to all of our friends and it won't be our last trip to the Providence Place Imax theater.

Best Movie I've seen in awhile. The colors, special effects were amazing! Stimulating for both adults and young adults! Action packed from start to finish. I can's say enough about this movie, if you haven't seen it..get out there..the IMAX 3D experience was the best!!!

I absolutely loved this movie! I didn't origianlly want to go but my boyfriend did. So I decided to surprise him with tickets to see it in IMAX 3D. I never want to see a movie any other way. It was a great experience. The concept of the movie was very cool! If you're going to see Avatar, see it in IMAX 3D!

Avatar is visually stunning and well worth seeing, especially in IMAX 3 D. The story is not new( See Dances with Wolves)but does have some spiritual and religious undertones regarding the spirit being more than the body and being part of some larger reality. All in all I recommend it.

wow, when i first saw the previews i thought this was gonna be just another scifi/action movie.. but it's so much more! the effects are ridiculous, i've already seen it once with my sister and today im taking my best friend to see it! i would watch it over and over if i could. IMAX 3D is the best way to go. pay the extra $5 and trust me you wont regret it! (:

My previous favorite movie - I'm talking BIG SCREEN movie experience, here, not great stuff like the Godfather, etc. which can be appreciated on small screens - was Lord of the Rings. As a fan of the books, I was thrilled what Jackson did with that story as he translated it to the big screen.
But this is a further step forward in terms of creating a fantastic world and making you feel it's real.
Also, the story is very good, the acting is good, and the direction and cinematography are Amazing!
Note: I saw it in IMAX 3D; I cannot speak for regular screen 3D.

I have seen it twice now, and might see it a third time. The Avatar 3D experience is unlike anything you have ever seen in a movie theater. Even if you don't like the story (which I love) or the Actors in it (whom I think do a fantastic job - especially Stephen Lang) you still need to see it for the overall experience.

I love this movie. The message is so deep. The movie show us that humans forgot about nature and how beautiful it is and now humans only wants money and material things. However, we are part of the nature and the energy that circulate. I like the part that the navi says that "we borrow the energy and then one day we must give it back". This movie is a excellent and remind us not to forget that we are part of nature as the trees, animals, etc. Seeing the beauty of nature is what really make us happy, like the miracle of giving birth. The best movie ever!!!!!!!

After my son saw "Avatar", he said it was basically "Dances With Wolves" with aliens instead of native Americans. True, but "Terminator" is basically a derivative of the story of the Virgin Mary, and is still a great film. And, "Avatar" is a great film. Not because of its story, which we have all seen many times, but because of the innovative way the story is told, which we have never seen like this before. I saw the IMAX 3D version and found the 3D effects added to the experience, rather than being a distraction, like they often are in low-budget 3D films. Enjoy.

Saw Avatar at IMAX 3-D which is the only way an action packed movie like this should be viewed. Kudos to the animators for an excellent job as well as those that created the beautiful landscape on Pandora.
What an incredible imagination James Cameron has. You can definitely see why (I think it was) $300 million went into this not-to-be-missed movie.
