It was splendidly crafted. yes the dialogue was trtte and frankly unbeleivable for the year 2154. There was nothin trite or unbelivable about the crafting of the fght scenes wih the bohemoth human directed servo machines.
The real value was the ease the film communicated the msitakes of policies of the past whether it be regaridng the american indiians or vietnam. The arrogance of power is very destructive. I hope average people can now understand this due to this movie.

There was independence day,Titanic,star trek,the terminator,transformers i could go on and on this movie was all those wrapped up in one.I would keep writing but i'm having writers block this movie is just that good what more can i say awesome! awesome! awesome! go see it for yourself it is well worth the money and

I was not all that impressed with Avatar.
The story was completely cliched, as were the extremely one dimensional characters, the dialogue was trite, everything was extremely predictable from a mile away.
It did, however, live up to the hype in the visuals dept. The world was beautifully crafted, great scapes and creatures, and the 3D was not overdone. The movie will look great even in 2d, the 3d just being a nice bonus. It's just too bad once you look past the surface gloss there is really nothing else that Avatar can offer.
Just too many cliches for my tastes.

I enjoyed the movie but wished they had used the whole Imax screen. I will probably buy it on Blu-Ray when it goes on sale. I may go to the standard theatre to see if Real3D is any better then Imax 3D.

Probably the best 3D picture ever, this is one to see at the IMAX as you become completely immersed into the scene. The scenery and alien life objects (plants and animals) were very detailed and the action was heart-throbbing. The theme was quite predictable but even with the fighting, romance and occasional language (nothing too bad), I think this was OK for a 9-year old because of the overall lesson.

Very well done - extremely imaginative and a very good selection for IMAX 3D. Visual effects were impressive but it wasn't "CGI for CGI's sake." Did NOT seem like almost a 3 hr movie - the story was not stretched or padded to make it longer.

This was the most exciting and riveting movie I have ever seen! The graphics were unbelievable and made me feel a part of the movie. If you saw a 3D movie 3 years ago or so, believe me there is no comparison to the 3D graphics of this movie. Phenomenal!!

Simply loved it. This is my first time 3D experience here at IMAX. It is simply fabulous. I watch Avatar without 3D before. Those are yet to see the IMAX 3D, they certainly missed a lot. If anyone like Avatar, I would recommend IMAX 3D experience is a must. It can't get better than this.

Ok so the effects are great- and they should be for the huge budget that Cameron had to work with. That's the only thing that was cool about this movie. The story is idiotic garbage for the weak minded. 2 hours and 40 minutes???? My God, this debacle could have been wrapped up in 90 minutes and I wouldn't be so pissed off that I sat through it- honestly I would've walked out after 30 minutes but my girlfriend loves weird creatures and insects, so I knew she was enjoying herself- and I love her more than I hated this movie. Sam Worthington was a complete waste of digital space as an actor-he brought all the depth of a cardboard cut-out to the movie. Here's the story: greedy white miners -BAD!! weird looking tree hugging smurf cats GOOD!!!

This film is a good mix of live action and CGI. I was worried that the movie would seem too long, but it held my attention throughout. Good acting by the whole cast. It shows obvious parallels to what has happened to many indigenous people over the centuries.

My wife and I really enjoyed this movie. She does not like science fiction of Star Wars like movies.
We were rivited to the screen for the entire movie. Special effects and 3D images were very well done. No rocks falling out of the screen to hit you but realistic 3D visuals.
We liked it so much that we may see it a 2nd time and we are not frequent movie goers.
Don't watch on a flat screen! IMAX 3D is the only way to view this movie.

Great special effects. Surprised that it was nominated for (won?) best picture as the story was borrowed and not very inspiring or optimistic in its outcome. Movie was long but enjoyable as the special effects were worth the investment in time and money. Looking forward to other 3D movies (e.g., Alice) but not necessarily this sequel.

I don't get some people trying to tear up this movie - it goes to show that some walk in to theater looking for things to criticize. This movie was a visual masterpiece - it definitely takes you to another world. The colors and visual effects are unmatched - Transformers doesn't even come close to it. This is a movie based on fantasy guys - free your minds and stop trying to tear up this visual masterpiece!!

The Imax 3-D experience was great, and the movie was visually impressive. But this was basically 'Dances with Wolves" with very big blue people with tails instead of Indians. After practically everyone and everything we were asked to care about in the first half of the movie were killed and destroyed by corporate bad guys and their Haliburton-type mercenaries, this movie just left me sad. You know they'll all be back with more firepower in the sequel. Good luck with those bow and arrows and dragons next time. I'll be waiting for the evil emperor to lead that invasion.

3d movie 2d characters. All that time and money. Why couldn't they make the big bad security guy and the caring scientist more than cardboard cutouts, for example? Honestly, if they asked anyone in middle school or older to make a list of characters, they would have gotten the list they put in this movie.
Great effects, great spectacle, and some eco- spiritual- love- mumbo jumbo, but the movie echoes the Transformers in its resolution-by-violence arc, and Anna and the King of Siam in its "our guy will save the dumb natives from themselves" mentality.

This was not my kind of movie. I went because I was urged to go by so many people. Just another "Ferngully" on a more elaborate scale. Was not going to go because it was, as I feared, the same exact story. Special effects were good though and it was visually enjoyable. The movie was too long though and the predictable ending was ridiculous. In real life the forest people would never have won against all that artillery !! Wish I had not bothered.

I loved the story, the cast, the effects that quickly morphed into real mental images of an alien world and the IMAX 3-D experience. I have seen most of the great movies released since the early 50's and Avatar stands with any of them. I recall many 50's and 60's 3-D releases and though the technology has improved a bit, it basically hasn't changed much. IMAX is similar to Cinerama with screens that are often smaller.. The digital projection system is fantastic.

We saw Avatar on a regular screen when it opened and over the weekend saw it on an IMAX screen in 32. It was really cool. I'd recommend 3D for anyone who hasn't been yet. I loved the movie. Great special effects. You forget you're watching computer-generated figures. They're so expressive.

Everyone, of any age (older than 8), should see this film, if only to witness the visual effects. This movie represents a whole new level of cinematic experience. Vivid, complex, wildly imaginative and, at times, seemingly interactive, the images are unlike anything you've ever seen in a movie.
Plot is a little trite, but engaging nonetheless.
Warning, sit in one of the last rows if you have a tendancy towards motion sickness.

Avatar is an amazing movie for those that love a little romance and fantasy, it doesn't miss out on any action either. Although I did get a little eye ache during the movie, due to the flimsy imax glasses they gave at amc 24 aventura, it was well worth seeing it in IMAX 3D to experience the feeling of almost flying along with the charachters.
