Great effects but a bit morbid for the little ones. My 6 yr. old son started crying of fear in the middle of the movie.

A great movie. Jim Carrey brings a humorous twist to this classic story. Also, in 3D, its like you actually have stepped into the story and are right there throughout. However, I thought some of the scenes might have been a little freightning for younger children. Overall, a must see for Carrey fans and all fans of A Christmas Carol. ( See it in 3D, you won't regret it).

DISNEY HAS DONE IT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!! This is my favorite movie of all time. I have seen every rendition and while the 1951 black and white version remains my favorite, this one is definately #2. IT WAS FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!! I loved every second. I was awed, stunned, amazed, taken back, taken in, whisked away and thrown for a loop. I would see it a hundred times more. BRAVO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Disney has delivered an excellent movie remake of "A Christmas Carol" by the beloved author Charles Dickens. Dickens book was published on Dec. 19th, 1843 and many have made movies about it. Its a scary but heart warming story. Remember people, this is a story of a greedy mean old man that is haunted by his very dead and loud parnter Jacob Marley and then three more spirits. They scared the heck out of Scrooge by showing him his past, the present, and then his future death. All in hopes of him becoming a kinder man again. Well this story can even scare an adult. Parents need to use common sense. Don't take a little child to a dark movie theater with loud speakers . Disney has made an A+ movie for adults and older children not little ones.

Okay, how can you ruin a Christmas Carol? Try to be too innovative with the classic script. Some of the additions in the 3D version including a disintegrating ghost of Christmas Present and a roller coaster ride through London's sewer system for Scrooge were great animation but superfluous and jarring. The few attempts at humor also jarred within this spooky rendition of the story. The movie is definately only for children comfortable with frightening movies. That being said, I still had to recommend this movie to my family. The 3-D animation, especially in IMAX, was astounding. It was as if you stepped into the story. Simply stunning!

This was a lot of fun. The movie story line was good, perhaps could have used just a little more plot but that's probably only because this story has been done many times over the years. The thing that really makes this movie shine is the special effects. I saw this on a 3D IMAX screen and it was amazing. The detail in the movie was very impressive and some of the scenes made you feel as though you were on a roller coaster. The 3D special effects had so much depth you'll feel some scenes come right off the screen. I definitely recommend this movie and if you've never done the 3D IMAX, this is a good movie to give that a try with.

It seemed the movie was lost in the 3D effects.
The real story was just an afterthought. The last 10 minutes or they tried to cram it all in - the snowflakes were the best though in 3-D ; )
There really was no 'buzz" from the viewers leaving the theater - you know how it is when they have seen a good movie.
Chatter about this special effect or that, but nothing about good the movie was. You know when a movie blows an audience away.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Only drawback was in waiting for the large number of people to get seated, so a late start to movie - we could have arrived later as the pre-movie entertainment wasn't all that entertaining. The movie itself was phenomenal! The attention to how desperate people's lives were was true to the story and paying attention to humanity's offspring, want and ignorance, is something many versions overlook. Jim Carrey performed superbly, a real "natural" as Scrooge and he made this mean, spiteful and stingy man sympathetic. Liked Colin Firth as the nephew and enjoyed Bob Hoskins as the jovial Fezziwig. Cary Elwes's characters were excellent as well. Liked Gary Oldman as Bob Cratchit too. Audience applauded at the end!

I brought my two children ages 8 and 11. They enjoyed the movie and actually got what the message was saying. I know a few parts were scarey but those parts are brief and you are on to the next part of the story. The advent of 3D many years ago was very disappointing for me. With what they are doing today along with IMAX I would not see this in any other format. The ability of the director to take this story to a whiole new level due to animation is a credit to the industry. I would recommend this movie for children 7 and above if you are worried about the scarey parts. I, for one, stayed to the end even when the credits rolled. Bocelli's song was breathtaking! I plan on going again and buying this when it comes out. Merry Christmas to all!

I loved this movie and so did my young children. You and your children have to be very familiar with the story and talk about what to expect before seeing it together. They knew who the characters were and liked comparing it to other versions they have seen. I was shocked and amazed that the movie was so true to the real story. The IMAX 3D make it so life like and that really added to our positive experience.

Upon watching this movie one really needs to know the back ground and basis of A Christmas Carol. What I love about this movie was the director did not interpret his view of what Charles Dicken's was thinking, rather he stayed true to the rich text that everyone grew up knowing and loved. Though it is hard to put comical moments in a film where there strictly is none, Jim Carrey of course has to put some sort of comic relief in there and the master he is made a few laughs. In a world where movies and television are nothing but profanities, it is nice to see that someone still loves the classics and can make a great movie out of it. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone that is looking to get into the holiday spirit.

Not PG like the rating claims. It was not appropriate for children under the age of 12. Exciting and dramatic, but way too scary for kids, and difficult for them to understand the reasoning for Scrooge's behavior.

I wouldn't recommend seeing this with your kids, if you have any. It's scary at times, and often very boring for kids OR adults who aren't familiar with the text from the book. There are some great visuals here, but not a whole lot of comedy, and it's very true to the book, so some of the long sentences they speak can sometimes be lost by the loud noises going on. It's a beautiful movie, but you have to already like A Christmas Carol in order for you to be able to enjoy it
