Will this movie win any oscars? Absolutely not. Will you have a blast as Michael Bay blows up just about everything in site. Without a doubt. Despite the critics this is not the worst movie ever. It is dumb as far as dialogue and story goes but the action and visuals make up for it, so as long as you turn off your brain and just enjoy the eye candy you won't be disappointed.

Lots of action, but left me bored and wishing there was a stronger plot and development. WAY too many characters underdeveloped with weak lines. Seems they just through a bunch of people in there to fill huge plot holes.
I have never watched a movie with so much action, that was soo boring... There was no "hook" that kept me involved and interested in the story.
By the end of the movie I just found myself staring at the very attractive lead actress and wondering when it was going to end.

Let's be honest - who see's a Michael Bay film for plot? There were some huge holes in this movie's plot, timeline, and continuity... I was still on the edge of my seat, sweating, at the end of this movie. I am of the age where I was too old when Transformers became the T.V. Toy hit. I remember them vaguely, but had no particular interest one way or another.
Uninspired by the first installment, I went to see this second in iMax and was pleasantly surprised to find a reasonable coherent and fun summer film for all ages, if a bit summer blockbuster obligatory noisy.
Some of the best CGI I've seen recently, and its two and a half hour length went enjoyably quickly. I'm still not an "official fan," but it was fun, and yes, I'd go see a third which I'm sure is coming.
So if you're a fan, you're going to like it more than the first. If you're not a fan, just go and enjoy the show - I think its worth a good look.

This movie was better than expected. I fully anticipated a unattached story line and over wrought explosions. They did an excellent job of melding the two movies together and giving us a plot line that was plausible and interesting. Those who say the CGI is sloppy need to go back to their mom's basement and stay there. We are not all movie anaylists...we just want excitment, adventure and that is exactally what they gave us. The twins were good for comic relief (despite some other reviews in here about their sloppy CGI)! Lastly, Megan Fox! OMG does someone like that really exist? In short, will see it again and again and then I will purchase it on DVD. Worth seeing...no doubt!

Don't worry, loyal fans - the film's 2.5 hour runtime allows for plenty of explosions (and yes, college age hotties) while maintaining an interesting plot that explains much of the background of the Transformers that jives well with the original series. People who give this movie a good rating are the type who faint when they see basic effects on screen. People with 1/2 brain know better. This was supposed to be a Transformers movie, not a movie about humans with robots on the side. I was so disappointed about the lack of any robots really speaking other than the two stereotyped robots. 15+ adult items in the script as well as over 20 pieces of language that are not for children. am a fan of 25 years and this movie COULD HAVE been so good, but Bay treated it like garbage. Mad about the end product, outraged about the amount of adult stuff & inappropriate language. No need to see dogs or robots doing stuff.

Plot 3 of 5: Full of holes. Example: If Megatron can be brought back to life with an all-spark piece, why can't Optimus? If Sam has to "earn" owning the matrix, why can The Fallen just grab it and go.
Effects 4 of 5: Would have been 5 except the non-crucial CGI characters weren't as "polished". Look closely at the animation and polish of the Twins.
Acting 3 of 5: As funny as the script was, you don't "feel" for the characters like you did in the first film. The vulgarity doesn't help.
This being said, I would see it again, own it, and recommend it. As much as it was a 3 of 5, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Saw this movie on a Saturday afternoon in the local IMax Theater. The CG effects and battles where dizzying. It was hard to focus on what was happening so much so I was exhausted at the end of the film. In my party of four was a young boy and when I glanced over to see how he was enjoying his mouth was usually hanging open so I guess this movie was designed for his age group. Personally I had fun with it but my wife and I repeatedly would look at each other and say “what a silly film” as many of the characters would be saying pretty silly stuff. Fun for kids, good for the Toy Company, ok with popcorn but nothing to rave about.

I was not expecting much as I have heard a lot of negative reviews from my friends but I have to say I was really pleased with transformers 2. This movie has overwhelming Robot fight sequences from start to finish and the special visual and sound effects is simply mind blowing (especially I saw it in IMAX).
There are a lot more robots from both sides engaging in fight sequences this time and I guess this is where most people complain about (can't tell who are the good guys and who are the bad ones). The plot is a bit more dense than the first one and you have to follow closely. As far as editing and the flow is concerned I think the studio has done a great job.
Last but not least - Megan Fox looks amazing in this movie.

i was very surprised with whole storyline i actually thought it was good, C.G.I was lifelike my son did not blink whole movie, and refused to go to the restroom in fear of missing, a good part will definatly see again imax is awesome you feel the explosions ....

Before I saw Transformers 2, I was hearing a lot of negative reviews, mostly saying there were too many comic relief characters, and not much plot. Personally, I don't need much plot to be entertained. Transformers 2 completely fulfilled my expectations, those being big explosions, giant robot battles, and snarky remarks. I thought the comic relief was fitting because I didn't think it was tied to any particular characters, as they all had funny remarks at one point or another. I felt that stayed with the style of the first Transformers.
I don't think you should expect an amazing movie, but it is a really good summer blockbuster.

If you are looking for 2 1/2 LONG hours of constant explosions and gratuitous butt shots of Megan Fox, then this is the movie for you. I think the target audience here was teen boys. I had a headache by the end, and was so happy when the credits rolled. The first one was much better imo, and they could have cut about an hour off of this one. Oh, and just like Megan Fox, I always carry the tools needed to make a plaster cast in the middle of the desert.. You never know when you will need them!! :)
