for some pretty graphic scenes more than language, this movie will appeal to most adults who will relate to the humor. You don't expect great acting in these types of movies, but you do look for the laughs. This film delivers some laugh out loud bursts, and some very clever dialog that you will probably miss because of the laughs. Do not take your mid-teens, because the "R" is for real this time. My wife loved it and laughed out loud. That's worth 4 stars.
This film is awful. Seth Rogen is awful. Apparently no one who green lit this piece of crap has seen any of the Batman films lately. They have ruined a potential franchise. People were walking out when I saw it. No wonder they held this movie back, It is so bad, any competition would shut it down. There won't be another even though it had good numbers the first long weekend. Watch for the drastic drop off for this massive, loud, unfunny turkey of a film. Did I mention how bad it was? Can I give it less than 1 star?
Chris Nolan as a director, has shown his superb performances at the helm of the revitalized Batman franchises, was not a fluke.
This is a well crafted film from writing, to direction, to the screen that doesn't miss a beat. From a script that evokes a high tech version of "Heat," to the stunning breakthrough imagery of the "Matrix," this film will be a landmark for it creativity and execution of an intelligent thriller like no other.
Go to the bathroom, and get your treats before it begins to leave the station. Once this train starts rolling, you'll be paralyzed unable to get out of your seat.
See it in iMax and remind yourself to keep your jaws shut or you'll drool all over yourself, as you wait for the next Batman from this great director.
I am of the age where I was too old when Transformers became the T.V. Toy hit. I remember them vaguely, but had no particular interest one way or another.
Uninspired by the first installment, I went to see this second in iMax and was pleasantly surprised to find a reasonable coherent and fun summer film for all ages, if a bit summer blockbuster obligatory noisy.
Some of the best CGI I've seen recently, and its two and a half hour length went enjoyably quickly. I'm still not an "official fan," but it was fun, and yes, I'd go see a third which I'm sure is coming.
So if you're a fan, you're going to like it more than the first. If you're not a fan, just go and enjoy the show - I think its worth a good look.
The third time around for "Witch Mountain" takes aim at an older crowd, without forgetting its history of being basically a kids movie. Dwayne Johnson is likable and effective as the young aliens protector, and chief means of transportation in his ultimately destroyed cab. Although there are a few plot holes here and there, the movie is paced and action packed enough to prevent you from dwelling on anything but the fun. Take the kids, but you'll enjoy it as well. Load up on popcorn and enjoy. Oh, that set up for a fourth installment wouldn't bother me a bit.
The original, without the modern special effects but character driven drama, is still the best. Those waiting to see GORT will be disappointed. The conclusion is very unsatisfying.
A nice and overdo account of an overlooked historical triumph, of the human spirit. Daniel Craig shows his acting chops without the designer suits. A good film that merits your attention. There's plenty of action, but at the heart of the movie, is the characters and the many decisions they have to make to survive against a ruthless Nazi Regime.
Star Tom Cruise does his usual exemplary performance, highlighted by his real life character having lost a hand and an eye in a previous battle, Cruise brings the intensity of the character and his dire circumstances forward. It is a testament to an "action actor," who can give you the same feeling through the sheer will of his character. Director Bryan Singer has attacked a different genre with perfection. Although there is action, make no mistake this movie is character driven, and you could cut the intensity of the all the actors performances with a knife. A two-hour film that is guaranteed to feel much shorter. Well paced, and gives you another perspective view of history you thought you already knew.
The rebirth of the franchise was a refreshing look at The Batman as we've always known him to be, and how we always wanted to see him portrayed on the screen, big or little. Real Batman Fans know the Dark Knight is on the edge, always has been, and they hate the campy jokes and stupid humor in any form. Their hero means business, and business is mean. By taking the series seriously, the movie reaches old fans and non fans alike. It doesn't matter whether you're a Batman Fan. As long as you're a fan of good movies, you're in for one hell of a cool and satisfying experience. Start to finish, strap in and enjoy the ride - then go again.
