Clooney is getting better as time goes on...this movie continues to demonstrate how skilled he is at the subtleties of human emotion and expression. Vera Farmiga succeeds in portraying an ethically complex character. Anna Kendrick is delightful. A bit predictable plot-wise in many scenes, but performances far outweigh that little weakness.

Don't spend good money on this very depressing movie. Wait for it on HBO or Netflix. Anybody who travels a lot for work can identify with this pathetic traveler.
Again, if you're looking for a dark movie with a sad ending, then spend your money. But, if you want to be entertained in a positive, uplifting way, there are many other great choices, like The Blind Side, etc.
Academy Members, if they award this one an Oscar, will be way off base and out of touch with the movie-going public.

This was a great movie. Of course it was far from reality...it's a MOVIE! I loved the surprises of the relationships, the bit of humor here and there; the lack of relationship when one lives a life on the road and the fact that some people are OK with that choice. Clooney was wonderful as usual.

I personally had exact same life as George Clooney in the movie for a couple of years, but for globally instead of domestic. Its hard to believe that any job requesting such an intensive travelling would be so easy, walking to the meeting room with doc, no challenge. Most of work would cost you unbelieveable huge efforts to prepare in advance. Unlikely you still can have energe to have breakfast, drink in the bar in the mid of trip.
I would say that it is far away from the reality plus, although the movice focus too much on the brilliant side, which is very small piece in the real world: privilege given by hotel, airline from intensive travelling... But the movie still ends with very depressing way.

I love the entire supporting cast. There is so much hurt and defeat and sadness in this film I feel bad for thinking that it's a good movie. The movie ends by remaining true to the title.

I liked it but it wasn't as good as the official critics are saying. I feel like I have seen George Clooney in this same role over and over again. Up in the Air is certainly not a feel-good film. The George Clooney character makes his living by laying off workers from down-sizing businesses. This, coupled with the increasingly-apparent emptiness of this character's lifestyle, leads to a feeling of helplessness and hopelessness.
But the film is great, because it continually surprises us by breaking rules and dashing expectations. Up in the Air is not epic, but it captivates and fascinates -- seemingly without effort. The actors perform with subtlety ad nuance that is perfectly consistent with the clean narrative style.

Contrary to what all the professional reviewers said, we found this movie less than satisfying and certainly not worthy of the 4 or 5 stars that many awarded it.
The acting was good and we liked the female leads but Mr. Clooney is certainly no Clark Gable.
In a nutshell, our opinion is that "Up in the Air" is not funny enough to be considered a comedy and not serious enough to be considered a drama.

Good movie, but was surprised by the female lead. Sadly true, as some people just dont like to commit.. It makes you think about the important things in life and lucky if you have people that care about you.

I rate this movie as two hours of my life that I can not get back. It has not one single redeeming quality. It points out that women will cheat and that people set goals that have no real meaning. If you enjoy the idea of seeing people canned, see the movie (they could have used other reasons for him to travel). The end of the movie arrives at no moral conclusions (hence: Up In The Air). This is a LOW budget production that Hertz and American paid a lot for advertising. I only wish others had written true revues of this before I viewed it. I would recommend renting the thing cause it is not worth owning. If 0 stars were only a rating! And yes - this is so bad that I wrote my first ever review.

Quite a refreshing movie with both heart-warming and funny moments littered throughout. Definitely recommended, and Clooney was superb in it.
