They made a point of showing that vampires can not be seen in mirrors with a quick (and corny) glimpse of what that looks like an invisible man wearing a jacket and shirt. (Like we haven't seen that done a million times before.) Later Ethan Hawke is checking out his ear in his rear view mirror. What kind of sloppy work is this?
The big problem the movie is that it's more about corporate greed than scary vamps and just misses the mark.

Daybreakers is an underwhelming vampire movie experience. I give it a solid "C". It's a good story plagued by pervasive lackluster direction, glaring continuity errors and, at times, uninspired acting. A very creative and interestingly way to reflect on the status quo of our current human condition. It does the taboo by suggesting to the audience that they are the cause of the problems in the world and that they most likely don't want to change. It also suggests that path to change is hard to find, difficult to do, and that those who do change will find life very difficult. It does, however suggest that those who do change will find themselves to be more alive and powerful than they had ever imagined they could be, despite the multiple challenges they will face. Nice story, generally well acted and well portrayed.

I went in with high expectations and naturally I was disappointed. The movie didn't quite flow like I was expecting it too and in portions I kind of found myself bored. When everyone is a vampire, it takes some of the mystique away. Overall it was a good flick though with more than a couple of moments that will make you jump. The action scenes are pretty decent as well. The film is fairly gory, so it not for the faint of heart. Overall I would say this is an average entry into the vampire genre.

This movie had potential in the beginning, but I felt like it dwelt on attempting to be scientific and it ended up lacking any kind of suspense. I suppose the ending appears to be a twist on paper, but sitting through this film you're left feeling unfulfilled. Tongue and cheeky, while remaining serious with a usual tone of vampire bleakness that is lightened as the movie progresses. A few cheap scares and thrills mixed with gory violence and action sequences left this reviewer highly entertained by the end. I got exactly what I wanted and expected from this movie! Don't expect the next great revolution in storytelling or social commentary. What you can expect is a startlingly realistic portrayal of what a world of Vampires might look like.

Excellent movie. The premise was new, which is hard to find in the movies any longer, since there are so many remakes of old movies. I thought the movie was a little short for the story line. There didn't seem to be enough time for character developement. Some of the dialog was vague. Overall, the acting was good. It kept us entertained and engaged and I believe the way it ended will lend itself to a mini series or series on TV. A sequel would not be recommende because I don't think you could get a better major antagonist. However, you could spend many seasons on SyFy chasing down vamps and turning them human with alot of action, character building, and let's face it, romance.

Daybreakers was definitely a refreshing twist on traditional vampire stories. It was also plenty gory, some of it gratuitous, but I suppose thats to be expected. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I was happy that the movie didn't drag out for 2 and 1/2 hours so yes, a sequel will be required. Some of the scenes were reminiscent of old black and white horror flicks, but even that wasn't too disappointing.

I want, nay expect actors to turn down a script when it's this lame. I can't watch previews it ruins the movie for me so I see who's in it and go off the synopsis. I gave this movie 4 stars but it should be 3 1/2 only. The story itself is very good. The way it depicts a world of vampires is fairly realistic, and the acting it is solid. I believe the main problem is that the film is short, only one hour and a half. And the lack of time makes some important parts of the story undeveloped. So you leave the movie theater feeling that something is missing. I think it is worth to see, but like I said, this could have been much, much better if they made it 40 minutes longer.

With such a wonderful cast selection one might have expected more from the writers of this "vampire World" style movie. By and large, it seems Lionsgate has created another mediocre product with good special effects and mediocre acting. As the film progressed I began to feel this was a more ambitious project than anyone had probably considered and the conclusion reaked of sequel (which often happens when the writers are forced to compromise on time). All in all, it's worth a look. Expect plenty of gore and a slightly different approach to the vampire genre.

This is not the worst vampire movie... It just couldn't commit to being a gory bloody movie... It tried to have a heart and thats where it went wrong.....

Far below expectations. Here's an action movie without a real fight scene, just gore for the sake of gore in a series of un-related scenes. The storyline is weak as the film refuses to explain ANYTHING to the viewer. What you get is about two hours of gore and talk about blood shortage without real explanation, exposition, character motivation, or resolution, and some lame fireballs. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

This is a vampire movie with a novel premise. Vampires vastly outnumber humans; only 5% of the latter remain. So, where is the next meal coming from?! The race is on: find a substitute for human blood before the supply runs out. In its own way the movie makes logical sense. Gets a bit bloody .... natch!
