While I enjoyed the parts where Downey and Jude Law played comic sibling rivals, the story was overly complicated, the fight scenes went on and on, and I lost interest in the movie after 2 hours. What could have been better edited into a tight mystery, was instead a mash-up of conflicting subplots.

Kudos to Guy Ritchie, Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law for a thoroughly entertaining update on Sherlock Holmes. Superb performances by Downey and Law. The repartee between the characters was enhanced by Downey's comedic timing and on-target facial expressions. I was skeptical that he could pull off the British accent, but his skill won me over. Excellent effects throughout transported this viewer to late 1800s London. The CGI detail deserves equal billing with the leads. I'm looking forward to the sequel!

From the trailers, I thought this movie would be a dark, occult-driven film that would creep me out. Surprisingly, I enjoyed it thoroughly. The acting was good. The effects were good. The story line was good. I felt it might have been a bit long but maybe that was just being tired. I would recommend for any mystery lovers.

I like what was done to the characters in this film. There was a mysterious plot. There were great explanations for every question. It was interesting to watch how things unfolded in the mind of Holmes.
It seems a bit on the unrealistic side, though. Makes me think of how 007 would be if it were in olden days.

He makes this film enjoyable to watch by making SH his...or at least his take on the character.
Jude Law, whom I never cared for much, actually showed me something here I hadn't seen before...an edge.
Accents take a bit to adjust your ears to, but you don't miss much.
Mark Strong could have made better choices....he wore the character as opposed to inhabiting him.
Story was good, left room for future episodes.
Overall, very enjoyable.

This movie was great it showed Holmes as someone I could relate and look up too. Being just one of the guys and same time uncommonly smart. Plus the pace of the movie was great. Nothing seemed overdone or stale.

I went with my two sons 21, and 14 on Christmas night, not really expecting much. But I really enjoyed it. Robert Downey, Jr. was wonderful. This is the first time I've seen a movie on Christmas night, but apparently it's a ritual for my oldest son.

Great movie!. The re-creation of London as it used to be was brilliant. Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law were superb together!! It was gripping and very entertaining with plenty of action and some beautiful comic moments. I would pay to see it again.

Roberty Downey Jr. is great in this role. Along with Jude Law. What a wonderful cast. Movie moves along very well, always making you think. Would love to see it again. Hope that they can return the cast and film a couple more movies. I love the way Guy Ritchie tells stories.

My husband and I were totally intrigued by this movie...the character development. story line and scenes within the apartment were to die for...also did not mind the leaps of scientific faith that were required to stay engaged!
The interplay amongst Downey, Law and McAdams was delgihtful! Good entertainment!

The actors were good in this movie, and there is a lot of action. I found it very slow in the beginning. I actually nodded off for a just a minute. Although I did like the last half of the movie, I recommend waiting to see it when it comes out on DVD. The person I was with really liked it,...so I guess it all depends on a persons personnal taste.

Robert Downey Jr. an Jude Law were amazing in this movie! I thought the whole story was a really great new twist on the whole Sherlock Holmes theme. Not what you would expect having grown up learning the stories. Much darker and I loved it. Well worth the ticket and I can't wait for the sequel.

This movie moved and Downey was captivating. The reasonings that Holmes reveals at the end could have been fleshed out and telegraphed earlier I think. No one could have figured them out so that could have been done better. Kids could see the movie. The use of flashbacks and fast forwards was effective. It is a risk free recommendation for just about anyone.

A tad lengthy, but what movie isn't today. Decent story line with enough twists to keep my attention.
What happens at the very end is a little upsetting because it was as if the director was searching for a way to leave the door for a sequal open. If the story would have ended it would have left a better impression on me.
Overall it was entertaining and the pairing of Mr. Downey Jr. and Mr Law fit well.
