Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law were both great in there roles. Even though the movie was a bit predictable, the plot kept things interesting. I would defiantly see the sequel.

I enjoyed his movie a lot. It started to remind of the movie "From H*ll" with Johnny Depp, but then came into a movie of its own. It was interesting seeing a detective we have grown to know as smart and boring change into quite a character. The action was good and the storyline was great.

Worst 2 hours of my life. It was a dreary, boring, painful to watch mega failure. The producers tried so hard to make S. Holmes seem so "brilliant", that they left the audience behind. Incesant monotone mumbling in a nearly inaudible forced british accent made me want to impale myself on the stair case. The one chance to save the film was Rachel McAdams, but her hooking up with R.D.J. was just not possible. He looked greasy, dirty, pasty, out of shape, and just .....well......old! No chemistry whatsoever. The whole film was dark, dreary and visually miserable. Stay home and count your carpet fibers. Your time and money will be better spent.

I enjoyed Robert Downey’s acting and being a reader of the stories by Sr. Arthur Conan Doyle for many years, I was able to follow along well, but the accents made it difficult to follow at times… being from the Midwest, the dialogue was difficult to follow, making parts of the story confusing for my wife. It appears there will be sequel. Hope they intend to tone down the accents next time.

well done...though a bit long on the dialogue at times...certainly met my expectations, not surprised given the star power and chemistry of the two male leads...Rachel McAdams made for good eye candy, though not much more...our teenage sons thoroughly enjoyed it!

"Sherlock Holmes, Guy Ritchie's visually captivating reimagining of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's classic character, delivers a good balance of action and drama through delightful direction and acting. Robert Downey Jr. was absolutely flawless and charming in his Golden Globe nominated portrayal of Holmes. After seeing this film, it's obvious that there was no better actor to fill this character's shoes.
His chemistry with Jude Law as John Watson was also delightful to watch, especially when the two are caught bickering between one another. I highly recommend this film to any fan of Holmes or Robert Downey Jr., as Guy Ritchie delivers a film that's "most engaging."

Great movie, has Guy Ritchies trademark slo-mo fight scenes (a la Snatch) and dark-styled imagery.. awesome take on SH. This movie has nothing to do with the occult! Anybody who thinks that wasn't paying attention to the story, also the hanging noose scenes are not that bad and are necessary for the story! Anybody of any age who has intelligence will LIKE this movie a lot.

This movie was a disappointing blend of animated and live characters who engaged in continual gratuitous violence accompanied by loud, disturbing noises. It had nothing to do with the character of Sherlock Holmes as portrayed by Arthur Conan Doyle. This Holmes was basically an excuse for quasi-cerebralized brutality. I gave it one star because none isn't an option. Save your money and your sensitivities and see something else...or stay home.

It is a very fine movie. True, it is a bit slow at times when it must go into details, but as Sherlock Holmes says, "the smallest details are the most important." It was very entertaining to see everything come together in the end. It is one of those movies where you simply must pay attention, but im not complaining. This movie should be a definite watch.

The movie started slowly, but picked up speed as it went along to a great finish including explaining everything that went before and opening the way for a sequel. The visual sets, costumes and special effects were outstanding, but we often had trouble understanding Robert Downey,Jr due to the sound level and occasional mumbling. If only we could have turned on the closed caption. This was definitely one of those movies that I realize more and more how much I enjoyed it as I look back at it. Don't wait too long to come out with the sequel!

Excellent depiction of Sherlock Holmes. Still the brilliant sleuth, but now with the conflicts and flaws demanded of a modern movie hero. Fight scenes were amazing, great performances across the board, and Sir Conan Doyle would approve of this modern take on his classic tales.

I have to say that I was shocked to find out that this movie was directed by Guy Richie as I have not yet seen many of his movies that I have enjoyed. This is truly the exception! Robert Downey Jr. did a great job playing the character of Sherlock Holmes and the visuals were great! Definitely worth seeing!

Masterful, witty, clever and all the lot. Precisely what I had hoped for. The pace is quick enough, the dialogue smart and interesting and a mix of charm and action complete the characters. The flashbacks are well-placed and just enough to keep you guessing .... all to the point. Fascinating interpretation of the original character -- who's not altogether, all together. Great entertainment. Bring on part duex.
Robert Downey Jr. aces it again!

Movie great! But not that amazing! Unfortunately half of the Dialog was hard to understand ...as others have mentioned. In a movie like this unforgivable..that the only why I gave 4 stars. The rest is worth watching. Since I v seen AVATAR 4 times so far it was the only movie worth watching this weekend.

Okay, so this isn't a terrible film. It has the usually intriguing Sherlock Holmes plot with trickery, gadgets, riddles, and, in this case, black magic. Downey does a good job of being a troubled soul with a beautiful mind, and the action is not bad! Unfortunately, Holmes is portrayed as a comic-book superhero with mixed martial arts skills.

Was not as funny as we thought it would be, given the previews we'd seen on Hulu. Characters were great. Action was great. But content was very dark. Almost every scene included some sort of occult activity. The ending does not make up for this. There was nothing in the previews I'd seen that hinted this might be part of the movie. I was thinking of bringing my 11-year-old grandson to the movie with me and was glad I did not. He does not need to see people "playing cult" or men hanging from nooses. Not something I want to see, and certainly not something a child should see. We tolerated 25 minutes of commercials and previews before the movie started, only to be very disappointed by the movie.

I guess my expectations were higher than what I saw in the movie. I was disappointed with the theatre sound system since having a hearing disability the sound was too low and I couldn't hear half the dialogue with the theatre background noise.

All the production people did a great job;
almost made it worth the money. Once again, bad script and an undisciplined,over-ambitious Ritchie.
Over-the-top Downey is trying too hard to be a Johnny Dep. A good part of the time, Downey's dialogue was not understandable. All the gags have been done before, which is very
un-Doyle-like for a Holmes story. The secret society has long ago grown whiskers.

I liked the movie for it's story and action. We had a hard time with Robert Downey, Jr's forced English accent....and he mumbles!! I would have liked some more explanations, before the final scene!! The scenery was wonderful and the effects were great!
