Wow, Nia Vardalos acted very well. Helped by her tour team and hairy bus driver, she was very brilliant throughout the movie. The comedy was very lively and kept up the movie the whole time. Worth watching this than the other serious stuff. I enjoyed the movie a lot.

Rom-com, yes. With a slightly different take, yes. Some have said that the movie starts slow & gets better. Agree, but it’s just the set-up, & doesn't take any longer than it needs. Some have said that the movie is predictable. The movie aims squarely at happy endings for all so there’s not much drama. People also do things that make sense from their perspective, so no surprises waiting to spring out. Now consider how odd that is. Indeed the movie's ending is very different from the rom-com formula of lovers somehow alienated who finally admit their love. There's no climax scene where one lover chases down the train or speaks over the public address system to a stadium of strangers. There’s a message in this movie & the love is natural.

What could be worse than a tour bus. I have been on 6 tour buses in various countries over a lifetime. This was right on the money. A happy and romantic little film. This was great - perfect to take my two fifteen year old girls to. Amazing that a movie these days a movie can go for a whole 1 1/2 wit no profanity or nudity. Ms. Vardolos takes us on a great tour of Greece while providing a simple sweet movie line that takes you out of the harsh realities of our times for a bit - even shows you how a young woman who has lost her job due to cutbacks moves forward with life! Bravo!!!!

With this movie, if you don't laugh, you don't laugh. This is the feel good movie of the year. The "critics" have panned it, but I feel the audiences will have the last laugh.
Everyone in the theater I was in laughed throughout and applauded at the end. Apparently, the 'critics' don't have 'Kefi', or 'Mojo', or 'Spirit', or just can't laugh. Remember, they also panned "My Big Fat Greek Wedding". If I recall, a least a few million people saw that one and continue to see it and talk about it.
"My Life In Ruins" is simply fun, showing that a movie doesn't have to have bathroom humor to be funny.

This isn't the greatest movie of all time, but it made me laugh out many times, brought tears to my eyes a few times, and made me want to go to Greece! If you have ever been on a bus trip, you will recognize the characters.
I would see it again.
