I had a hard time not clapping as loudly as I did when I saw it on Broadway. It was wonderful seeing the facial close ups that you can't see on Broadway. It was a great experience for me and my family. I only hope that they release it to DVD. It would be a wonderful treasure to add to my collection. The performances were great and the camera angles did the play justice. Well done, the memory of Jonathan Larkin was honored during this production.

Actually, I saw the play on Broadway in August, so I had to keep an open mind about how the film would be. It was just like being there! The only thing missing was the stale smell of the Nederlander theatre!

A terrific job capturing the live experience. My only critique would be that the edits were so fast and furious the actors didn't always get a chance to show what they can do. But other than that, a great movie!

I love Rent, and I loved the cast and production in this film. I did not like the filming, though. I thought there were too many close ups when I really wanted to take in the whole stage. I don't care to see the actors' dental work; I want to see the stage and the way the actors interact. Regardless, the show was great and any Rent lover will cherish it - especially the finale.

this was soooo incredible. better than the movie of the show, this had the best of both worlds. the angles were amazing. it was obvious that the camera people were very familiar with the show because they knew just whose reactions to shoot etc. THEY NEED TO PUT THIS ON DVD!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been in love with Rent since it first came onto Broadway. I was so glad that they filmed the last show and thought it was amazing. I could not stop crying in the end. I would recommend everyone to see this movie.

No comparison to the movie directed by Chris Colombus. It's rare live events are filmed and shots are chosen with such pin point perfection. Movements were captured without over-editing, and close-ups were perfectly integrated into the whole without sacrificing a moment of the you are there watching this feeling. In fact it was better than being there live. All the elements were top notch, lighting, sound but most of all the acting by the perfectly chosen cast blew away the move. This is a must see for everyone, not just RENT lovers.

It was an amazing show and the actors did such a great job. How ever the "special appearance of the original cast" was not up to par. If you're going to do it do it right! If they all showed up then it would have been okay but there were only a few and it stole the thunder of the current cast. That aside, a great show better message and well filmed!!!

the movie was amazing. i've seen the show multiple times this year and about 7 times with the final cast and they are AMAZING. the camera work for this was superb i loved it. the best angle was when they showed the whole stage on the screen because the actors looked lifesized so it felt kinda like i was t here! this really really realllllllllllllly needs to be released on dvd! and it should have an option to watch the whole movie from that full stage view! thanks hot ticket!

I got a chance to see this cast perform live in New York earlier this year. It was amazing then, and it's simply more amazing now. I loved the close ups to all the expressions, nuances, sweat, and tears that I missed as a live audience member. The cast is absolutely superb. I would love if more Broadway shows were released like this.

I've seen the orginal cast on broadway, and touring companies as well. This movie is the next best thing to not being able to see the production live. The studio movie version of RENT, (even with most of the original cast) is not nearly as good as this filmed version of the live production. It took me through all of the emotions that I experienced seeing it live. Also, I can't say that this cast was as good as the original, but they were pretty great. I would definitely recommend seeing this to others...and already have! I'd also love to own a copy of this film. And, finally, I am anxiously awaiting the arrival to DC next year, of the touring stage production with Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal. I will definitiely be in the audience!!!

I thought this was incredibly well done and I hope they continue to do this for other Broadway shows. Understanding it's not the complete theater experience and it would never take the place of me seeing a live stage performance, it is a fun (and more affordable) way to see your favorite shows over and over...especially if you don't live in NYC!

What an unbelievable experience! Right after the opening credits the young woman behind me called out, "Hey people, we all have front row seats!" That is exactly what it was like. Not being able to attend the last performance on Broadway I was overjoyed to get the opportunity to see the film and it truly delivered.

This was amazing. The preformers couldn't have been any better if they were the original cast. It was so moving to be "up close and personal" with the cast. You don't miss anything, right down to the tears streaming down Mimi's face. It's a shame the movie theater wasn't packed --- This needs to be advertised more!! Again, it is a fantastic performance.

I have seen the movie a 100 times and the play once before. I love the story as you can tell. Seeing the show filmed from Broadway and knowing it was the last performance and live made it exciting. I cried at the sad parts and laughed at the funny ones. It was a great experience. My audience also luaghed out loud and clapped at times. I would go again if it wasn't a limited time showing. I will buy the dvd when it comes out. At the end of the show some old cast members came and took a bow. I enjoyed that as well. I am hoping for even more on the dvd................... It was a good time!

We saw the play on Broadway, saw the movie, own the movie, own the movie soundtrack and the original cast CD and this just pulled it all toghether beautifully. It was well worth the $20. I do agree with a few reviewers that although the close-ups were wonderful, I would have enjoyed a bit more of the full stage, too.

Went with my daughters - one had seen the play 8 times, the other 4 times and me 3 times. We had the opportunity to go the Wednesday before it closed, so we saw this cast and let me tell you - we LOVED the movie. My older daughter commented that she can't wait for it to come on DVD so she can watch it once a week. The editing was great, capturing lots of little details that you don't always see when watching it on stage. Wish the theater had turned the volume up more to crank the music. But other than that it was amazing. We were sobbing by the end.

This was wonderful. I had seen it live at the Fox Theater in Atlanta once, and of course had seen the movie, but the live version is so much better than the movie version. I loved the way they did this and thought it was a great idea. Maybe we'll see some more musicals come to the movie theaters in this format, I sure hope so. Nothing beats live theater.

I have seen this on stage several times and I have seen the movie several times. They are both great, but the stage performance is so much better than the movie. This experience was phenomenal! The expressions on the faces of the performers were captured brilliantly. I can't wait for this to come out on DVD. It will be a best seller.

My hubby and I went and it was a great movie! He is more of a play person than I am , but I found it very enjoyable, musically entertaining and overall a great time!!

having been unable to head to ny city for the final performances of RENT, I feel priviledged to have seen this film. I was reminded of the real magic of the theatre, as opposed to film.

The movie was very good. Unfortunately, the camera was very shaky. If you weren't familiar with the show, you would have had a hard time understanding what was going on.

I love RENT. i've seen the play live 3 times and of course own the movie so i jumped at the chance to see the final performance in the movies since making it to nyc wasnt possible. i was disappointed in some of the performers. Mimi was too mean instead of being flirty and I think Roger was pushing 40. When watching an actual live stage show i probably wouldnt have noticed but the extreme closeups they showed did not flatter anyone. i now know everyones dental history. the closeups plus shaky camera work was distracting from the show. on the plus side Mark, Benny, Collins and Angel were wonderful and it was nice to see Anthony Rapp and others at the end (sadly no Adam Pascal though).
No, I do not recommend this movie.
