I never knew Julia's story and didn't know how loved she was by her husband. That's the love story part. He was 10-12 years older and just adored her.

I liked the book and was not disappointed by the movie. I think it could have been alittle shorter - there were a few scenes I found myself wondering "why?" but Meryl Streep, was excellent and the supporting cast wonderful.

My girlfriend and our husbands went to see Julie & Julia last night.....we LOVED it!!! But of course we're girls.....the husbands on the other hand........LOVED IT!! My hubby laughed out loud, got all romantic and misty, and I think enjoyed the movie as much as I did!!! Now that really says something when you can recommend this movie (an almost blatent chick flick) to men too! Meryl was phenomonal, and Amy adams was endearing! I would go see this movie again...in a heartbeat! Bon Appetite America!! Finally a movie you can really sink your teeth into and feel like you are a part of.

not great. Streep was awesome in her role as Julia Child but we all knew she would be. Adams gave a less than stellar performance as Julie, a woman with a passion for food and a strong sense of admiration for Julia Child. The movie alternates between the lives of these two American women who don't have much in common but a love of cooking and being married to supportive men. I didn't get enough of Streep on screen for my liking while I found Adams' scenes somewhat tedious. Julie & Julia was good but it wasn't great.

I was skeptical of all the good reviews and all the publicity, but this is a movie that is a joy to watch. And like all good art, it is so much more than the obvious subject matter: Julia Child. This movie was Tres Excelente!!! Meryl Streep was phenomenal as Julia Child!!! She was so excellent that you forgot that you were looking at Merly Streep and actually looking at Julia Child... My Mother and I went to see this movie because we love Meryl Streep. We enjoyed her performance and expect an Oscar for her! This is a hughley entertaining and charming movie and is a tad too long in the middle. But it evokes memories and has the one and only Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci in realistic roles of middle age love and lust with food and each other. What else is needed!!. Don't go hungry to the movie.
