I loved, loved this movie. Every minute of it was just delightful. Of course, Meryl Streep never disappoints, but Amy Adams was wonderful too. Stanley Tucci was marvelous. It made me want to go out and buy Julia's cookbook and move to Paris. I highly recommend it.

That's it - I'm convinced. Meryl Streep can play any role - she is just spectacular as Julia Child. Not just in delivering Nora Ephron's clever, delicious lines, but also in the spaces between that really make a performance shine - the pauses, the breath, the facial expression and gesture. And Amy Adams, though not equal to Streep's absolute mastery, holds her own.
This is a great date movie - funny, sexy (I mean, what's sexier than Meryl Streep inhaling "butter . . . "), romantic. It reaffirms good food, true love and companionship, and vigorous LIFE.

Julie & Julia was a fantastic film - a lighthearted flick that still touched on some deep issues. Wonderful casting and great chemistry between the cast.
The writing/directing really depicts the parallels between these two lives - women trying to find themselves in the world.

This movie is delightful...for foodies and non-foodies like. My copy of "Mastering" is from the 19th printing...and I grew into being a better cook watching The French Chef...The essence of Julia Child, her love of food and her joy of life leap from Meryl Streeps performance. Amy Adams as Julie does a wonderful job of expressing the emotions that range from fear to elation inherent in preparing food that sems alittle daunting...Go see this...leaving the theater you will be smiling. You know Meryl Streep is not going to be in a loser script....What a hoot! Meryl Streep once again blows the roof off the theater with her uncanny portrayal. I grew up watching Julia on Saturday mornings and I was not disappointed to see the 'real' her. Amy Adams didn't disappoint, I was worried she would bother me, (seeing an awful lot of her these days).

More Meryl Streep would have made this a five star movie for me...funny...beautiful characterizations...elegant weaving of the two story lines. A little sedate through the second third of the movie. While the pacing slowed, the final arc of the movie satisfied.

This was one of the BEST movies I've seen in a long while. Meryl Streep is phenomenal in her depiction of Julia Childs! She obviously watched lots of film clips abut Julia, as she had her down pat! I learned things about Julia such as what a wonderful marriage she had, how she got started in cooking, etc. LOVED the movie!

My wife and I both thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Meryl Streep lives up to her reputation as an Academy award winning actress.
Amy Adams is a bright up-and-coming star. In this as a dramatic role, she really shines. She handled her part as a neurotic, self-absorbed, trying-to-find-herself young woman turning 30 very well.
The story was very well written, and was funny and poignant without being crass or maudlin. In the end, both main characters achieved their goals, and we as the audience enjoyed their stories.

Another great movie from Nora Ephron--just love the way she tells a story. Wonderful. I laughed a lot. I really thought Meryl Streep WAS Julia. Amazing. Delightful, insightful story--about perseverance and getting "unstuck" when you've hit a rut in your life. Loved the flashbacks to Julia's time period, her trials and tribulations. She spent 8 years on "Mastering"...WOW. Such perseverance. I love this movie and look forward to watching it over and over anytime I want to get myself out of the dumps.

Meryl's performance was spot on -- capturing all of the sweet quirkiness of Julia Child. Stanley Tucci shines in his role as adoring husband. Very touching story. The other half of the movie, with the modern-day character Julie and her blog, was not nearly as enchanting, but then again -- how could it be? Next to Meryl, even diamonds seem bland. Good laughs, amazing food, endearing - grab a girlfriend and go!

Really enjoyed this movie. My husband and I laughed the whole way through. I could relate to both women and the struggles they experienced. I have always been a HUGE fan of Julia and was not disappointed. I loved learning about her life and her love of food. It made me want to come home and bone a duck. My husband came home, pulled out a cookbook and picked out a recipe for me to cook for dinner tonight. I would see it again.

Best movie I've seen in a while. Meryl Streep nails Julia. She got the accent just right. There was applause in the theater after the film. If you want to be transported to Paris in the late 40's and 50's this film does it. It also takes you to Queens NY in the early 90's. I think the length of the film was just right. Except for some profanity, I highly recommend this film.

I spent my childhood and much of my adult life in quiet adoration for Julia Child's ability to have great fun with food...Extremely impressive how well Meryl Streep captured her. The amazing love story between Child and her husband, the irony that she was child-less and yes...the modern Julie...the incredibly painful and thankless job of dealing with the aftermath of 9/11 and her finding a way up and out of the depression it spawned. Yes she was whiney...but she also grew through the movie...very well played, I laughed, I cried - I will finally buy that dang cookbook and make a boeuf bourginion...lord that is spelled wrong...but..it looked so good!

Well done! Loved the biodrama and the cooking and both women, their similarities and their differences, their struggles, perseverance and their ultimate triumph. This is one of the few movies I will buy when it comes out on DVD

A great movie - I loved the flashbacks to Julia's life, love and career in Paris with her adorable husband played by Stanley Tucci. What a great couple. Read the book before seeing the movie, and still couldn't warm to, or really like, "Julie" , but admired what she did. I'm glad her story didn't dominate the movie (loved her hubby - what a saint for putting up with her!)

So I promised to take my wife to see this as soon as we saw the first preview of this movie. For you guys that are worried about your manhood from seeing another chick flick, don't worry. This one was actually very good and not too sappy. Streep did a more than excellent job as Julia. Adams' performance as a woman turning 30 with a bunch of meltdowns was spot on as well. Her meltdowns made me laugh because of their authenticity. Anyway, guys should take their significant others to see this. You'll score major points and you'll enjoy the comedy and of course the food they cook looks great. You may even be able to convince your wife to try some of those recipes, so depending on her ability, you may get an added bonus.

Meryl Streep never ceases to amaze me. She is a chameleon who becomes each and every character she portrays. Amy Adams was very good in her role (but will never have Meryl's range and depth). The movie was funny and poignant and evoked both laughter and tears. It is both a love story and one about the joy of eating, especially with loved ones. The only flaw in the movie was a lack of lead up time to a snag that occurs in Julie's relationship with her husband. It happened too abruptly and was not wholly believable. However, all in all, this movie was one of the best I have seen in long, long time.

This was the best movie that I have seen i a while - it was inspiring, funny and very entertaining. Both actresses were great! The story was a tad bit slow in the middle, but I enjoyed it so much that I almost liked the slowness (it gave me more to see!). It was the perfect date night movie!! We'd go see it again!

Only one thing was very disappointing....the use of the F*#* word. Really in PG-13! My son looked at me and said MOM! WHY couldn't they just say foget them instead of that! Unappropriate and really soured my experience. Otherwise is was a great movie.

I liked this movie more than I thought I would. So many made for movies quasi-bio flicks aren't up to par. This one is lovely and true to the great chef. Don't go hungry though!!! Your stomach will be growling for 123 minutes! Bon Apetit!

This movie thrilled me, because I felt transported back in time, but yet.. with my foot in present day. I laughed hard was deeply touched by Julie's and Julia's inner strength. I longed for Paris! I wanted to cook and eat a yummy dinner with good friends and enjoy life when the movie was over. Bon Appetit!

Meryl Streep is simply fabulous in this role. She is wonderful to watch and is Julia Child to a "T." Unfortunately, she was only on the screen half the time. I loved Julia's story and the love story between her and her husband is very touching. Unfortunately, Julie is a typical 30ish child of the the early 21st century. She is very self absorbed and really doesn't have much of a story to tell. Whenever the movie jumped back to Julie's life I had to will myself to pay attention. Overall I did enjoy the movie -- but some of the best parts were seen in the coming attractions.

Really. Couldn't you? But no need. Meryl Streep again provides you with stunning entertainment and so accurately channels yet another mesmerizing character - without becoming a caricature. It's honest and beautiful and cheers you. Be prepared to leave the theater buoyed by another great perfomance and wonderful subject matter. A life lived in celebration of a great love (most importantly) and with great food. Enjoy!
