If you enjoy high action martial arts films, you'll love this one. The Ninjas are really cool, and the gore is excessive, but adds to the movie instead of detracts from it. I would suggest this movie to anyone who likes really outrageous action movies. This makes "Kill Bill" (what a dud) look like Sesame Street. Will be watching it with my grown sons again. I really enjoyed Ninja Assassin. It left me wanting more, which can be a good thing. Of course the story was not the most original and there were no shocking twists or turns, but that wasn't the appeal of the movie for me. The reason I gave it four stars instead of five was that the action wasn't as good as it could have been. It's a shame too because there were some action scenes that were just amazing, and then others that resorted to the all-too-often used shaky camera technique that has plagued Hollywood of late. Overall it was totally worth seeing in the theater though.

It's a great movie, doing exactly what it was meant to, so I saw no reason not to give it 5 stars. Still, you need to know exactly what it is you're going to see with this movie.
Fighting, action, mystical ninja powers, dismemberment, bloodspray, etc. That's the entire draw of this movie and it is done so well. Right when the story starts to coast the movie flashbacks to some backstory, and by backstory, I mean a glimpse into ninja training or awesome fight scenes.
So, this is a guy movie to the max. There's a plot, it's there and tangible, but it's a guy movie plot. They didn't need it but it's nice they included it. Better just to sit back, relax, and enjoy gratuitous amounts of animated gore.

Very disappointing. Chaotic fight choreography that looked entirely green-screened, made worse by spasticam machine-gun cutting. There wasn't a single fight that looked like the characters were in the same room at the same time (which is fine if you want to see CG animation). The 'story/script was obviously written on a barroom napkin in about five minutes. Watch Iron Monkey or WIng Chun or any early Jackie Chan but don't waste your 12 bucks on this!

This is a guy movie of epic proportions. LOTS of CGI-blood. thin story-line, characters falling in-love easily and for almost no reason, lots of killing and ninja's.
An awesome combination. The effects were rad, the acting...okay I guess.
I say watch it out of pure pleasure. It's not going to win any awards and it's loud enough to drown out most teenage banter. Not to mention, when the theater for New Moon is filled with teenage girls, all the boys should be in this theater.

There is a reason why this movie is rated R so don't be surprise to see blood and bodies hacked off.
People before you start slandering the movie about it was too bloody and stuff check the ratings.
The only thing I found weak about the movie is probably the cg fx for the weapons, especially the shurikens. Other than that, this movie was flawless.
It was indeed a very good movie. It had a nice flow for the story line and it had awesome ninja fun (The type of fun that ninja enthusiast would enjoy).
This is by far one of the most successful ninja flick out there.

Excellent.
Yeah, the fight scenes were crazy insane awesome, and the ruthless, merciless, assassin Raizo wields his chain-scythe like a demon incarnate, with dizzying martial arts and acrobatics. But what enhanced all that was the script writing, and the acting of the lead. There was enough back story told through well-paced flashbacks to really make you care about the character and his dilemma.
Rain is believable as the dark, disturbed killer who had recently broken away from his clan. He's captivating on screen, and anchors the audience's eye.
And it had humor. Always a plus.
It was mesmerizing from start to finish. There was lots of blood, but it was the cocktail of story, acting, and action that merited 5 stars for me.

This movie is fantastic if you are the type of person who gets a kick out of people jumping out of shadows, disemboweling their enemies, and splashing blood all over the place.
If that sounds terrible to you, it also sounded terrible to my wife... who also loved the movie! Just go into it hoping to have fun and see some over the top violence and fight scenes and you'll be happy. Don't try to analyze the plot or look for the best movie of all time. I'd recommend going to see it with a bunch of buddies who are nuttier than you are and after getting a few drinks in ya.

I had high hopes for this film when I walked into the theatre but sadly I left disappointed and my wallet 9 bucks thinner. Ninja Assassin is jam packed with more clichés than I thought possible. The story is something to be longed for and the agonizingly predictable love plot feels as if it were thrown in at the last minute. The shock factor of the gratuitous CGI gore wears off after the first 20 minutes. You soon realize that in this world ninja stars fly with greater accuracy than bullets and that the main character, Raizo, can kill the entire Ozunu Clan himself but apparently has never tried. If repetitive action with little to no satisfying plot is your cup of tea then by all means this film is for you.

I had mixed feelings for the movie. Action sequences were amazing if you're looking for something along the lines of the film 'Shoot Em Up'. However, you can not get the satisfaction of seeing the beauty and technique in the actual martial arts forms. I had high expectations from this movie but I feel it fell short for the die hard martial arts fan. 'The Protector' still by far is still the #1 martial arts film.

First of all, the fight scenes are the best have ever seen. Extremely entertaining! Also, I found the story surprising oriental, I mean not as the usual hollywood story, but in a good way. In summary, this movie is the best movie this year so far. It's original and fun!

I wanted to give this move a 4.5, but the options were only 4 or 5. I don't mind giving it a 5 because it has the three major elements, a good story, very good acting and great martial arts. The special effects used with the martial arts weapons were exceptional. The lead actress and actor were perfect.

Amazing movie. In fact best martial art movie i have seen in a long time. The way they use the actual ninja hand posture's in the movie are right on the money. Just seeing this movie makes me want to go back into training in the martial arts again. I definitely recommend this movie to anyone that loves a lot of action and is fascinated by martial arts, in this case with ninjutsu.
