A brilliant little documentary about the triumph of the spirit in the face of missed opportunities or simply bad luck, and the power of friendship and family, either born into or acquired through love and work. I wish that "Anvil : The Story of Anvil" would be mandatory viewing in art and music programs everywhere. Those who've met success will feel that the there but for the grace of god go they, and those who've not yet made it will feel inspired to keep at it. If the story of Lips and Robbo doesn't make you at least a little misty... well then you're made of stone, but clearly not made to rock.

I went into the movie expecting a comedic real-life documentary a la Spinal Tap, but was pleasantly suprised by this little film. It was very tastefully put together. Not too sad, not too funny, and very genuine. Lastly, you can always count on the Japanese.

This is one of the best documentary films I've ever seen. I laughed, I cried, and I ultimately fell in love with Steve "Lips" Kudlow, Robb Reiner and ANVIL. "Lips" really makes the movie. He is, unintentionally, hilarious, but he is also just a sweet, determined, all-heart kind of guy, and you really end up rooting for these guys and hoping against hope that there will be a happy ending for them. They are the real-life Spinal Tap! I dragged my husband and my kids with me to this movie, and thank god they loved it too! The band played after the movie. Great fun.

This is by far one of the best documentaries I’ve seen—period. It deserves the highest accolades. By some stroke of genius the director came upon a story of unbending determination, constant disappoinment, and brotherly love. Who would have guessed that such drama could be found in a story about-METAL.

I love documentaries, and I loved this film. The members of the rock band Anvil are talented musicians, amazing people, and very compelling subjets for a film. Their rollercoster story is moving, inspiring, and, ultimately, entertaining. Plus the music ROCKS. If you can, definitely see this one.
