This movie was everything I was expecting and more. The storyline was engrossing and the tale of the Joker and Batman's struggle for control is spellbinding. I sat in awe throughout the entire movie and never thought it would end (in a good way.) Some may complain about the length of the film but I actually felt that if it was three hours long, it wouldn't hurt only because the movie moves at such a frantic pace. If you liked Batman Begins, Definitely see this film.

One of the best action movies of all time. Visually stunning and filled with some of the best acting I've seen in decades. Christian Bale is the BEST batman. He completely ecompases the totured soul that batman essentially is. There are no words for Heath Ledger's performance as the joker other then: OSCAR. God rest his soul, we lost the one of the most promising actors of our time. God bless his family and all those deeply effected by this great loss. The Dark night is epic, to not see this movie would be a crime.

I'm not an action, comic, or superhero fan...yet The Dark Knight had me on the edge of my seat in total suspense throughout the entire movie. First off, well worth seeing at 3am in IMAX! Amazing acting by Heath Ledger...can't imagine anyone even trying to be the Joker after his swan song performance. Seeing him as the Joker was actually frightening! Plot kept me hooked, very intense scenes. Loved they emphasized the polarity between the characters of Batman(order) and Joker(chaos) AND Harvey Dent's decent into madness guided by the Joker. His character's metamorphosis from sanity to insanity and his obsession with chance was intriguing. I highly recommend anyone to see this movie...more the once!

This may contain some spoilers!!!!!!!!!!!! It is hard to call this a sequel when it flows as smoothly as it did with the first one. The story was fresh and brought just about every aspect of the antagonists personality to the bigger screen. The Joker was fearful and wonderfully portrayed by the (unfortunate) late and great Heath Ledger. I was sceptical in joining how great of a job he did until I actually saw the film, and I was blown away. The rest of the cast performed beuatifully together. Some parts they used characters(in my opinion) improperly and then (again in my opinion) hinted at certain characters. The last 10 minutes of the movie was a little off for me, but it did not take away from the rest of the wonderful movie. If you are a Batman fan or (in Heath Legder's case) a fan of great acting, do yourself the favor and go experience THE DARK KNIGHT

I have to admit, I've been waiting for this movie since I first saw Batman Begins 3 years ago. The wait was so worth it. This film had everything I could of asked for and more. The acting was superb, all this talk about an Oscar nomination for Heath is definitely warranted. All actors did a tremendous job, Heath just took it 2 steps further. He wrapped himself in this character (the joker) and went with it. Just amazing.
Please do yourself a favor and go out and see this to experience it yourself, you will not be dissapointed.

Once in a great while we are blessed with the opportunity to witness a cinematic masterpiece of epic proportions. The Dark Knight sets the bar so high that in my opinion, no movie has ever or quite possibly will ever be able to match it. This is what a true 5 star, 2 thumbs up movie should be. It will forever redefine our understanding of the movie grading system, and will forever inspire movie watchers and creators alike. There are movies of the summer, of the year, of the decade and of all time. The Dark Night is the greatest of the all timers to ever grace the big screen. In fact it's in league of its own, it embodies the definition of absolute perfection.

The Warner Bros. studios have made the BEST decision with entrusting the franchise and character saga of the Batman to Christopher Nolan and it's producers.
Story, compelling action, and amazing cast that put together, deliver quite an experience.
This follow up to Batman Begins is truly a masterful story-telling of the repurcussions of a character such as Batman in a realistic world setting. Both Chris Nolan and writer brother Jonathan Nolan did an amazing job crafting a story that it is truly intricate and deeply stirring. With an amazing cast, great script, and superb class from the director and studio, this will be THE definitive Batman movie, until another sequel by the same group can surpass it.
The bar has been set very high.
For those of you who are more familiar with Christopher Nolan (and some of Jonathan Nolan's writing) such as Memento and Prestige and are fans of their detailed story telling, you will NOT be disappointed in their application of their talents to the Batman franchise.
Now if only someone would come along and do some justice for the boy in blue. Vastly different due to the "alien" aspect, but deserving of some proper attention.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The second installment of Christopher Nolan's Batman series left me breathless, to say the least. For fans of the comic books, you will not be disappointed one bit. Christian Bale's performance as Batman was an improvement over his first appearance in "Batman Begins" (though he wasn't bad in that movie) and Heath Ledger brought The Joker to a disturbing level with his portrayal.
This movie was witty, frightening, exciting, intense and shocking.

Over the last 5 months The Dark Knight has garnered an extreme amount of hype. And let me tell you, that hype was an understatement. Christopher Nolan's masterfully crafted crime epic is hands-down the best movie I've seen in years. It not only blows previous comic book-based films away (including its predecessor Batman Begins), it stands on its own as a truly wonderous work of art.
The film reunites Chris Nolan at the helm with Christian Bale under the cowl as well as the rest of the returning cast: Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, and stalwart Michael Caine.
With an incredible intricate and complex plot and a flawless script courtesy of Chris Nolan and his brother Jonathan, this takes the ages-old conflict of good vs. evil and examines it's grey areas. There is not much space between the madness of The Joker and the vigilante justice of the Batman. This movie examines the very foundations of a vast city at the brink of complete and utter chaos. And the catalyst of that chaos, a deranged, compassionless psychopath known only as The Joker.
Heath Ledger, in his last completed role before his tragic death, plays the maniac with pure, unadulterated glee. His Joker makes Jack Nicholson and even more so Cesar Romero's Joker's look like Pee Wee Herman. He kills for the pure thrill. His psychopathy is only enhanced by his grotesque appearance, complete with mangled clown make-up, greasy kelp-colored hair, a lip-smacking edginess, and a eerily haunting voice. Ledger comletely immerses himself in the role, terrifying the audience with his numerous, homicidal antics. The Joker is still humorous but in a sick and twist way. He'll make you laugh and make you hate yourself doing it.
His performance is iconic but the other key players are equally as impressive. Christian Bale continues to prove why he is such a versatile method actor, embodying the Batman persona with an emotional core previously vacant in past incarnations. Bale appears to be having a blast playing the playboy facade of Bruce Wayne. He is a rock. Maggie Gyllenhaal is leagues above Katie Holmes's flat portrayal of assistant D.A. and Bruce's love Rachel Dawes.
Aaron Eckhart was perfectly cast as district attorney Harvey Dent. He nailed the portrayal of the Batman mythos' most tragic hero. As most know, Harvey is destined to become the villainous Two-Face. Eckhart captures Harvey's emotionally driven fall from grace with pure talent. He was equally as impressive as Ledger in my opinion.
Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman deliver top-notch performances as Bruce Wayne's confidents Alfred and weapons liason Lucious Fox, respectively. They provide the film its emotional base, wisom, and the very few moments of humor. Gary Oldman disappears behind the skin of Lt. Jim Gordon (a truly fantastic performance).
Even with a complex plot, with many various subplots, The Dark Knight never relents or gets confusing throughout it's 2.5 hour runtime. The action sequences are breathtaking (especially in IMAX). The practical effects added to the films gritty approach. Nolan has vastly improved on his ability to choreograph intricate action set pieces from Batman Begins. Wally Pfister should be acknowledged for his vertigo-inducing cinematography. Gotham is much more modernized in The Dark Knight, weeding out any Gothic building, letting the natural beauty of Chicago shine through here.
The story of The Joker and his chaotic ambitions, Harvey Dent's emotional wrenching tragic arc, and the story of an almost ungovernable city, The Dark Knight is a true masterpiece in every category. It will go down in history as not only the best comic book adaptation ever but at one of the most intellectual, artful crime eipcs in the last decade.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

There are positives and negatives. This movie is nothing like Batman Begins, particularly in the way the story flows. It lacks the story telling grace seen in Batman Begins, giving it up in favor of a more chaotic story telling style. Now that's not neccesarily bad, it's more offputting than anything else. Fans of Batman Begins will go into this expecting to see Batman Begins 2. Now it's actually in a way pretty apropriate to have the story flow in such a chaotic way. That's just in the Jokers nature. You can't expect a poetic film when it comes to the Joker. Its sort of like Nolans film the Prestige. That film was actually constructed in such a way to resemble the three acts of a magic trick. More than anything else this film hit the nail right on the head when it comes to the Joker. Of course heath was spectacular and totally dissapeared into the character. He brings us this totally unbalanced, darkly funny, anarchistic psychopath with absolutely no remorse for any of his actions. And that's exactly how the Joker should be as any Batman comic fan would tell you. Aside from the acting of the Joker, the writing for the character was awesome. Everything he does throughout the film is classic memorable and timeless Joker. Only the Joker could cause so much chaos so flawlessly and easily. The film was a nonstop climactic thrill ride. Now here's my dilemma. that was my biggest complaint about the film. As a writer I understand the importance of good story flow, and not trying to stuff too much stuff in one story. But at the same time if this film hadn't been so chaotic it wouldn't have worked. And it certainly would not have been true to form of the Jokers usual antics in the comics. In a way the audience feels much like the citiziens of gotham while watching this film. You're suddenly thrown into all this chaos and it never seems to stop. Now going back to what I said a moment ago, it did seem like they were trying to stuff a lot of story into it. The film was over two and a half hours and even then it was difficult to contain the story therein. Another complaint, albiet very minor, was batmans voice. Now I like Christians bat voice but I wish he would have done it a little louder. It was hard to hear at times. All the actors were great. Eckhart did a great job. Two face was great and looked absolutely grotesque, which is a good thing. He was very true to the comics. Batman was great and we really get to see an even scairier side of him this time around. Gorden becomes the badass we know and love from the comics, unlike his aprehensive and awkward self from Batman Begins. Maggie brings a lot more character to Rachel, although I think Katie did a good job with the character in the previous film. Lucious Fox gets a bigger part this time, and very well played. Michael kanes' acting is as solid as ever. The mob bosses were a bit boring when standing up next to the Joker. Scarecrow makes an appearance though it doesn't drive the story in any way. I hope to see him return in the third film so we can see more of Cillians acting talent. Throughout the whole movie the action was top notch. I have never seen a single film with so much action. But it wasn't stand alone action. The action worked with story. And believe me story and charactre are front and center in this movie. Batman really becomes himself here. He definately takes on more of a detective role, collecting evidenc eto solve crimes and track down the Joker. He has a lot more gadgets in this film too. I can't wait to see the next one when he has Wayne Manor rebuilt and gets his new improved batcave. I don't want to drag this on too long so I'm just going to say one more thing. Go see this movie now.

Despite a few far-fetched pieces of technology, this film was a huge success. Heath Ledger delivered a performance far beyond what I ever expected. Aaron Eckhart made a great Harvey Dent. I was most impressed that the movie was more of an ensemble piece, with Batman not always being the focal point.
All I can say: It's a damn shame Heath Ledger is dead. I always enjoyed him in films before, but this is his best, most inspired performance ever. Like Cesar Romero on acid. It's a shame they couldn't do an R-rated version of the Dark Knight.
