4 amazing books, one awesome soundtrack, record breaking movie ticket pre-sales...high expectations. But I do not believe that is to blame. I would have sat through an extra half hour if it meant better character development and more memorable scenes. The casting was great. But I feel some unnecessary over-acting took place here and there which made some scenes seem cheesy. I was disappointed that key elements lost their essence. Trust me, Edward showing Bella what happens to him in the sun is not meant to be funny. It is one of the many special moments they share on their journey to falling in love...
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I think they did an excellent job on the movie, though, I feel that they left some important parts from the book.
The meadow scene was nothing like I would have pictured.
I think that the growls from the Cullens could have been more amplified.
The directors did an amazing job on the casting of characters. :)

This movie was not as good as the book, but what movie is? But I loved it. I thought it was very well done. There was so much to put into such a small time frame. I was impressed. I can't wait until the next one! Anyone have a time from on the next one?!

I went into viewing the movie kind of skeptical. Not fully keen to the trailers. But having read, and enjoyed the books I had to see the movie. It was a well done movie that surprisingly stuck to many of the main points in the book. (kudos for that at least) Though my biggest complaint is that, to me, the movie focused more on the vampire thing and the vampyric 'issues'. I believed the story was to be more directed to the relationship between Bella and Edward. I was disappointed in the lack of further development on that aspect. Make-up seemed a bit over done on a few of the actors, but that's getting nitpicky. All in all, it was a good movie. I'd say that those who haven't read the books, probably enjoyed it more.

I read the book, and watch the movie on opening night. I love it. Saw it again with my 11 year old daughter. Still love it. Can't wait for the DVD on Blu Ray.

I love the books and the movie did not disappointed me. This is the first time in my life I did stand in line to watch the movie. I think the cast and director made a great job. I will see it again and buy the dvd when it comes out. Definitively will see the next one.

I knew the movie wouldn't measure up to the books..what movie does? But twilight was INCREDIBLE. I took my daughter and 3 of her friends with us...and will be taking my niece this weekend.
It was nice going to a movie and not worrying about sex and violent content. It was nice going to a movie where love was the central theme--not love of yourself, but love of others above yourself. It was nice seeing that boy could love a girl without sex being involved.
Does it set high standards for future BF's? Maybe. But my girls are worth it, aren't yours?
My only complaints are this..no back story on either Alice or Carlisle..esp Carlisle. And Jasper didn't have enough lines. That's it.
Great movie...was NOT disappointed!!

I was so excited about this movie when I heard it was coming out. I had read the first book of the twilight series and went to see the movie at midnight the night it premiered. I was COMPLETELY disappointed in this movie though. It lined up with about 1/2 of the book. And to make matters worse bella and edward had absolutely no chemistry AT ALL until like maybe the last 10 minutes. Uh...total bust!

This was the best movie I've ever seen - I only saw it three times opening weekend, but I plan to see it at least twice more this week alone. It's honestly a must-see. Even my guy-friend who has never read the books saw it and loved it; he's starting to read the books as soon as I give them up (I'm reading them for the fourth time)

This movie was wonderful! Im addicted to the story. I have read and re-read all the books and I think the movie enhanced the books and played off them very well. I think the way they portrayed the story is beautiful! I have seen it twice already and Plan on seeing it again soon. I cannot wait for the next one to come out! : ) Wonderful, Wonderful, Wonderful!

As the famous saying goes, the books are always better than the movies. In this case, though, I'm not so sure. As I headed to the theater, I was sure I was going to be disapointed. Two hours later, I was still in shock. In awe. And I had officially been diagnosed with Obssessive Cullen Disorder. The movie was so much more than I expected. I loved how Stephenie Meyers was actually in the movie (short scene, with Bella and Charlie, in the cafe) and how they added the Itilian cooking. The ballet studio scene was FANTASTIC. The amazement of the movie still hasn't set in yet, even though I've even dreamed about Edward. The music to this movie was great, too. If you're debating on whether or not to see this film, GO!You won't regret it.

I liked the movie for the most part. I read the books two times and i loved them. But i felt that a lot of things in the move was assumed. What I mean is if some one saw the movie and had no idea what it was about the acting would look really bad..but in fact they were playing the characters the way they were described. For instance, some people would look at Bella in the movie and just think that she is messing up her lines but in fact is is the fact that Edward leaves her breathless and he dazzles her and she forgets to breath, but you would not know that unless you read the books. Like I said I like the movie for the most part but I think that too much was assumed of its audience. I hope they do a better job with "New Moon"

When I originally read the Twilight series I was taken away from the everday stress and monotany. It took me away and made my life more carefree and imaginative. I LOVED the books. After a few months without that I was relieved to have the movie come out. I was not disappionted at all. I found myself putting faces with the names and situations. I think everyone did an exceptional job.....but I must say Rob Pattinson stole the show. Not only for his ungodly good looks in this movie, but for his way he captured the character of Edward.... BETTER than I imagined!!! Everyone must check out the soundtrack. He is a very talented musician as well. I will see this many times over.

I liked Edward, thought Bella should have smiled a bit more. I was disappointed that the movie did not explain how the Cullen family was formed. I also felt the character development fell a little short. I don't remember Jasper saying a single word, and his special ability wasn't mentioned. The Cullens on the screen were true to the Cullens in the book, but the movie never explained why Rosalie is nasty, why Esme is so loving, and why Carlisle chose to become a doctor.
Overall, I found the movie to be entertaining, and I will see the sequels, I just probably won't go on opening weekend. I only hope they take more time to treat the Cullens as a family of individuals, instead of as couples in the background.

I loved the Twilight series and was very excited to see the movie adaptation. The movie was good--it captured Twilight's essence. Is it a great replacement for the book--no, the book will always be better. I did wish the movie took several things in a different direction (points from the book), but overall, it was great film.

With all the hype and the craziness that this movie has seemed to induce with teens & young adults, I was expecting this movie to be a complete waste of a great novel. I am happy to say that I was pleasantly surprised. I wish there would have been a little more character development & I think the Cullen family was severely under used, but overall, it was a good movie. :0)

The movie was good! But, you really need to read the books before you watch the movie. My husband went with me and he had a hard time following it. You can tell that some of the actors are inexperienced, but so were the Harry Potter actors. Look at them now!

Oh my gosh this is the best movie of all time! The night before I couldn't get any sleep due to the anticipation and excitement of the movie coming out and I wasn't let down. I have to say that this movie is way better than Harry Potter and I am a huge fan. The best part was all the gorgeous vampire guys especially emmett, edward, carlisle, james...they were all extremely good looking which made the movie twice as good! I loved the cute love story between Bella and Edward...even my boyfriend came with me and he loved it! (probably because of all the action scenes haha.) And if he liked a love story...anyone will like it! Definitely a movie to watch over and over again because it will never get old! Can't wait for the next one!!

I was disappointed in this movie. I have read the book and there was so many things that were changed and added that were not in the book. The movie was not totally horrible I just would of liked to see more of the details that were in the book in the movie. I hope the next is better. I would of gladly of stayed through a four hour movie to see more of the details that should of been in this movie. I love the books and I hope I will enjoy the other movies.

I would never recommend this to anyone. It was awfuuuuuuuul. From the poor dialogue, to the non existant chemistry between Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. It was laughable. Was there a reason Jasper had to look so ridiculous? He reminded me of someone that walks into their friends house and is confronted by a very large unfamiliar dog. Ugh. So terrible!

As someone who has read the book many times and therefore had sort of specific expectations, Edward was just plain strange for much of the first half of the movie. There were moments when the plot of the book just felt plain awkward to me as an audience member, seeing them played out before me, like when Edward first smells Bella in their biology class. However, I think the rest of the movie was really really well-made and it followed the book really well. I especially thought the baseball scene was amazing, and the whole thing had a really cool and fitting soundtrack. Definitely worth $7!!
