The book is better than the movie. The movie was good in it's own right, but they could have done so much more with it. They shouldn't have deleted or shortened so many important scenes! You barely got to know the Cullins in the movie when in the book Bella interacts with them more and you get attached to them. :)
I think the only thing that TRULY bugged me about this movie was Bella's stuttering and "Heh" sounds almost every time she talks. Other than that, the casting was very good! :)
Excellent special effects! :)

great, now that i saw the first one i cannot wait for the second one!!!!! this movie was so good and most deffinately worth seeing at mid-night. i loved it, but i would recommend reading the book before seeing the movie because you will love it alot more. it was condensed alot and some things were different than the book but it was still super-amazing and is most-deff on my top five list. TWILIGHT IS THE SHIZ.

As a fan of the books, I was very anxious to see this movie, but it turned out to be incredible. My favorite aspect of the movie was without a doubt the chemistry between Edward and Bella -- it was intense; I found myself holding my breath during parts. I loved the overall feel of the movie: beautifully gloomy, much like I envisioned the books. Pattinson successfully pulled off the much anticipated role of Edward - he was the mysterious outsider who became Bella's protector who's expressions always smoldered! I also loved the score for the movie, it was perfect. I am GREATLY looking forward to seeing New Moon -- since it's official!!

so... i have been waiting for this movie for awhile and now that i have seen it. i just don't know. the movie is very jumpy... alot of the book is not in the movie. only the major points of the book made it to the movie. i think they could have done a better job. kristin and rob are great, as well as the other cast members. the book is alot better... but aren't they always. maybe new moon will be better!! i hope so!

The movie stayed true to the book as was possible. The storyline kept me engaged and was worth the wait. The casting was superb as well. I had hoped that the storyline would focus more on Bella and Edwards strong connection. I saw the attraction but, didn't quite feel it. However, as an avid fan of the series I would highly recommend this movie for anyone looking for a little romance and magic.

The book created a really high standard for the movie. That doesn't nessarily mean that the was bad, it just means that the movie had a lot to catch up to. I was really expecting the movie to not be as good as the book. When I was walking inside to the theater, I was saying to myself "The book was awesome, the movie definately can't beat it.." sitting in the seat for two hours, becoming more interested every second was somewhat surprising. My friends and I left the movie theater saying "Dudeee, we are SO watching the sequal..."

The movie was good, just seemed a little slow. They left out a good amount of character development so the relationship & emotions between Edward and Bella is nowhere near what it was in the book. Fans who read will enjoy it, those that didnt read it might get bored.

I absolutely loved Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse (not a fan of BD) and had high expectations of this movie. Sure, the movie was REALLY rushed, causing essential character development to kind of be missing (i.e. Edward's gentlemanly "old world" ways, getting to know Alice and the rest of the Cullens, etc). Still, what I ultimately wanted from this movie was to relive the story--- the passion, the angst, the build-up to the kiss, etc. And I got that from the movie. i got to relive Edward and Bella in two hours without re-reading 700 pages. I laughed, I cringed (special FX were bad!), I loved. And I'm happy with what I saw.

They never are as good as the book, but they did a nice job. It's refreshing to see a story that doesn't rely on special effects and guns to get the plot going. Lots of beautiful people and the story was nice, even though a lot of the back story was lost and many of the supporting characters didn't get much screen time.
My only complaint would have been with the female lead. She seemed to only have one expression - ticked off. But other than that, a pleasant movie even though I was drafted as designated driver.

I love vampire movies, I love good romances, and I love great cinematography. Twilight has all of these... I haven't read the books but was fully engrossed in the movie and will look forward to owning it on DVD.

I really enjoyed the movie and it was especially fun to watch with my "tween" daughter. For a two hour film - the movie was an excellent adaptation to the book. My only criticism would be that the vampire make-up and hair were a little "over the top," and as a result, the Cullens really, really stood out. It was still a fun film and I thought the actors did a terrific job portraying their characters and the chemistry!

The only thing better about the books than the movie is that the books lasted longer. I could watch this movie over and over and over and over. I absolutely loved it!!! It was exciting and sensual just like the books.

Me and my friend Lauren went to see twilight last night. We both have read the book and were completely excited about seeing it, basically in shock that we were actually seeing it! The movie is incredible, we were completely dumbfounded by how well Summit put it together! We need to support this movie so that we can see New Moon hit theaters as well! DO NOT LISTEN TO THE CRITICS!!! GO SEE FOR YOURSELF!!! YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!!!! If we have the money we'd be going every night!! and might go again soon!!
Hint: Be careful of comparing the movie with the book. Just absorb Edward and Bella and you will be perfectly fine!!!! They better hurry with New Moon because we can't wait to see how it turns out!!!!

I do like the books, the movie kept with the storyline, and explained everything for those who haven't read the books. However, the acting was a joke, it seems like they made up for the lack of dialogue and ability to act with shots of scenic landscape of Bella and Edward together.

I'm glad people liked it according to other reviews, but I'm afraid I can't recommend the movie to anyone. The direction is uninspired, the actors are insincere and you'll be left missing the wonderful characters you met in the book, and the silly blurred special effects and the way James keeps tilting his head annoyed the hell out of me.
What's so cool about Twilight is that vampires are a part of the REAL world! There is nothing real about the movie's world.

No movie will ever compare with the books. That being said, I truly enjoyed the movie and even decided to see it a second time with all 7 of my close friends on a total whim. Was it worth it? Yes! Will I see it again? Yes! I think all the actors did a nice job with their roles--a few things I probably would have given more time to elaborate on ( a more tender meadow scene). Loved the baseball scene and the music was awesome. Just tell when we can get ready for New Moon and I will be there!

This is a very good movie...but not as good as the books. They leave a lot out and change things from the book...and they could have done a lot better job with Edward, he comes off looking dumb in places and Bella does not seem clumsy or akward at all.

I am a huge fan of the Twilight series. The movie was great with a few exceptions. Some of the sequences were not true to the book. For example, in the begining when Billy and Jacob Black come a drop of Bella's truck. I thought that they did the best they could and I can't wait for New Moon.

I absolutely loved the book (read the entire series in a week), the movie just didn't make me fall in love with Edward and Bella like the book did. It felt like little clips of the book, and seemed a little rushed (granted it's hard to fit 500 pages of book into a 2+ hour movie). All that said of course I would recommend it to anyone, I would also recommend reading the book.

It is impossible to separate what you love about the books from the movie. I couldn't even imagine what watching the movie would be like not having not the read the book. That being said, the love story is the star of the book and of the movie. Edward (Rob) and Bella (Kristen) shine in the film. The film was fairly true to the book, as much as it probably could possibly be. So many characters and scenes were crammed into the film, that the 2 hours flew by. Every character had a moment of introduction. The special effects were great at times and the dialogue a bit corny at times, but that was to be expected. Overall, fans of the book will be fans of the movie, plus a few folks may be converted along the way.

I think this movie is okay, not really as good as I thought. The movie left out a lot of details that I think they are important and the movie is way too short and they just cut and combine different scenes together and makes it look kinda weird to me. They chose some very awesome songs and I swear you would LOVE them. They put some jokes into the movie that you wouldn't find in the book and I totally love that. Overall, I would recommend my friends to watch this movie, but don't put too much hope into it otherwise you are going to be disappointed. And also watch the movie first before you read the book because if you read the book first you would think the movie has ruined the book and you wouldn't be able to appreciate the movie.

I have read the Twilight series three times, hooked onto it by my teenage students, and I have to say that I was disappointed with this film. If I hadn't read the books, I think it would have been even worst, as it would have been impossible to make sense of much without a great deal of background knowledge of the characters. I think the characters were mostly well-cast, and the setting was perfect. Cool soundtrack. HOWEVER, for readers of the series, it was more like a supplement than a culmination of the book. I felt like I only got a bite of what the book was about. I will buy it when it comes out on DVD, but let's hope that if and when they make the next book into a movie' that it is much better than this.

I did not expect for the movie to be a total disappointment!! The plot was choppy, the scenes changed constantly with no transition whatsoever, and the characters weren't developed at the slightest. There was major overacting everywhere...and Bella had little to no emotion, always (except for at the hospital...overly dramatic!). And when did Twilight turn into a comedy? It seemed as though they were mocking Twilight instead of making it funny....
Sorry to say, this movie was so corny. Summit needs to release the rights to the next movies, step aside, and let the pros handle it. They just created a major disappointment to major Twilight fans.

I read all 4 books 5 times...I know it's a bit obsessive, but that is the effect Edward & Bella has on me.
To be able to visualize it onscreen is amazing! On the other hand, if you read the book before watching the movie, it leaves you wanting for more.
Don't expect the movie to be exactly the same as the book, so you'll enjoy it as much as I did!
