Dawn the opposite of Twilight

This movie was disappointing after hearing all of the hype about the author working so closely with the writers. I feel they butchered the pure love that Edward and Bella share. Instead of him loving her and "needing" to be with her, I felt he only wanted to be with her because of his desire to kill her someday. I understand the difficulty of putting a 500 pg book into a 2 hour movie but the movie completely lost all of the little nuances that draws you into their love story. Edward was portrayed as a true monster and Bella just looked like a spoiled teenager falling for the "bad boy". I feel the true core of their love/romance was not portrayed in this movie and I am very saddened by this.

Book to Movie

I thought the movie was great and that is coming from some one that has read all 4 books and the partial rough draft online of Midnight Sun. I think that the with the small amount of time to tell such a complex story that the movie makers did a great job. It was defiantly the fastest two ours of my life. When the lights came up I was just like !ALREADY!. The change of some of the dialogue between Edward and Bella did bother me a little and that is why I gave it 4 out of 5 stars but overall the essence of the book is still there and I will definitely go back for # 2.

Go Figure - The Book Is Better

You have to understand that the movie will be different than the book. I did enjoy the movie, and I liked seeing my favorite parts of the book on the big screen. Unfortunately, I don't think the viewers who have not read the book will appreciate it as much. The movie seemed to make them infatuated with each other and didn't spend time on them falling in love. I got a completely different feeling from seeing the movie than I got reading the book. That said, the movie was a nice approach to the story line, and the humor was incredibly appreciated. I liked it more than I thought I would. The previews made it seem darker than it was.

Difficult to Explain

The movie left a lot of things out that I thought would've been added and some of the sequences were changed around. The acting really sucked at the beginning but got much better at the end. I love Ashley Greene as Alice & Emmet is absolutely gorgeous. Also love Jackson as Jasper & Rosalie grew on me. Parts of me were disappointed & yet at the end I was satisfied & my sister & I were both tempted to sneak in to watch it again (or at least go watch it in theaters again soon). Can't wait till it comes out so I can buy it. Definitely worth seeing.

Twilight Glows

I have not read the books, so I knew nothing of the story other than the basic 'it's about vampires'. That said, the movie is great. I was able to get a real feel for the vampires and their challenges. I enjoyed the movie and would definitely recommend it to others.

Only if you've read the book...

This movie is a great way to finish off reading the book, but otherwise, it was rather disappointing. The movie goer has to fill in the gaps with what they know from the book (which was expected to some degree). Some of the scenes are more awkward than amusing and parts that I'd hoped would appear-- don't, but it was worth seeing in order to say that you've seen it.

I loved the movie. I went yesterday morning while my daughter was in school. Wanted to make sure it was appropriate for her before I let her see it. Did the same with the books! I am actually on the third and trying to imagine how they'll make that one into a movie due to someones size(don't want to ruin it for those of you still reading). Anyway, I thought that with the extremely small budget they had to work with that the movie was excellant. Was very, very close to the book and I know many of us appreciate that. They had to exagerate a little but it was a great story. Can't wait for the next one and looking forward to DVD release already.

Excellent Adaptation

I really enjoyed this movie and can't wait to see it again. I went to the
Midnight showing in Boston. The theatre was packed. Catherine Hardwicke
did an excellent job at condensing such a large book into a 2 hour
movie. I think the highlight was when Edward made his first appearance.
The audience went wild. Obviously we were a Team Edward group! I loved
it!

The movie went along with the book perfectly. They both took you on an emotional roller coaster. The graphics and details were great. I only wished it was longer. The only thing wrong with movie is that it had to end. This young cast has alot of promise.

If you have not read the book, skip the movie. The film tried to copy the book line for line of dialogue, and became stilted because of it--- movies are visual---why not show what you mean and let the audience deduce information instead of having characters say all the information aloud?

The acting wasn't awful. They were just so darned earnest all the time.

I laughed out loud at a part that was not meant to be funny---my apologies to the young girls sitting behind me who were very serious about the scene.

I love the books and accompanied my 14 year old to the showing, so we had a nice evening, but I would not suggest this movie to friends.

Expectations too high

I liked the movie, didn't love it. I read the whole series and was a little obsessed. I think Kristin does an amazing job as Bella, the rest of the Cullen's were very good as well. Although, Jasper reminded me a little as Edward Scissorhands. Rob did a good job as Edward, but almost cheezy at times, the same as some parts in the movie(cheezy) We laughed at parts that were not meant to be funny. I hope the budget for New Moon will be more so they can do better on the specail effects. The movie was choppy and jumped around. But I think they captured key points in the book and left it wide open for the sequel.

I love this story and i definitely recommend it to everyone but i do think that the main characters (bella and edward) had pretty bad acting skills. I might be overly critical because i love the books so much but i do think they could have done a better job. The script was also a bit off but it is still a great movie which i will probably watch again, multiple times. . .

I was one of the people who had their tickets days in advance and was so freakin excited to see this movie. I think that they did a really good job, there were things from the book that weren't in the movie that I would have loved to see, and I feel like some of the depth that the book provided was lost in the film. Other than that it was great, and I would go see it again, and I can't wait for to see how they will do the other three!!

This movie overall has been worth the wait. The cast and crew definitely worked extremely well under the incredible amount of pressure they have been under with the massive publicity they've been getting and the high expectation of all the readers of the book.

I'm looking forward to seeing it again and can't wait for New Moon (yes, It's official, now!)

LOL, I really enjoyed the movie. Yes there were key parts that were changed or modified but there was no way to fit everything in. In the beginning even though the actors were quoted as working very hard to not be over the top it still came off over the top. When the movie got down to business though it was really good. We will be going back to see it as well as investing in all three versions of the DVD. :)

First, I have to say, with the budget they had, they did an okay job. Was it at all like the book? Not entirely. The big scenes in the book were in the movie but the overall "feeling" of absolute love and devotion were not there. Was it cheezy in some parts? Yes of course. Were the portions that were meant to mean something actually come across to make you laugh? Disappointedly so. I absolutely love the books and will continue to be a fan, despite the movie. Please don't change the actors, it'll make the sequels worse.

I am what the Internet is calling a "Twilight Mom." I loved the books so much that I arrived two hours early at the theater yesterday to get the best possible seats for myself and my friends. And I can honestly say that time was well spent. We had delightful seats for one of the most delightful movies I've ever seen! Of course, the screenplay didn't cover EVERY detail of the book - it never does. And, of course, not every actor looked the way I had imagined him or her. But it was close enough, and I can't wait for the next one!

TWILIGHT WAS AMAZING!!!! I was preparing for the movie to completely ruin the book (as most book-based movies do) but I was shocked to find that the movie did nothing but enhance the book! Obviously, there are some parts that were not exactly like the book (again, like most), but for about 90% of the time is sticks to the book. I've seen it twice so far and I plan to go see it as many times as I can before I go broke from spening 10 bucks a ticket! Lol. GO SEE TWILIGHT!!!!

I thought the movie was so worth seeing. The anticipation through the previews was torture, but the theater was stuffed with lots of big fans of the series which made it so exciting. The movie doesn't end where the book ends, but I think that it was stopped at a good spot...Just enough to keep me watching for the next movie to come out. I recommend this movie to anyone - Try reading the book first.

For starters, the atmosphere always differs with each croud at the theater. The midnight showing opening night was full of laughter and gasps.

By itself, the movie stayed true to the book and the actors did a phenomenal job filling the shoes of richly developed characters. The chemistry between Bella and Edward does not disappoint. However, for such an anticipated blockbuster I am disappointed, solely, at the special effects that they cheaped out on. Everything else checks out, and two hours goes by fast, keeping you craving for more.

Yes, it's about vampires, but really, it's about romance. We thoroughly enjoyed the movie, thought it was very true to the book, and plan to see it at least once more at the theater before it leaves the big screen.

Don't pay attention to the professional reviews. Remember, they all loved The English Patient, which I personally thought was one of the worst movies of all time.

Loved it...mostly

I won't say the movie was flawed, but I will say that I adored it and can't wait to see it again. The movie is visually stunning, the characters almost as lovable as the books (which is really saying something, given the strength of devotion that the books have engendered in their fans), and, let's be honest, just plain enjoyable to look at. The movie hits a serious speed bump midway through, but overall, it's a great experience. Major kudos to Rob Pattinson for a totally engrossing portrayal of Edward Cullen, and to the cast of young supporting actors for really bringing the high school crowd to life.
