Yes, it's about vampires, but really, it's about romance. We thoroughly enjoyed the movie, thought it was very true to the book, and plan to see it at least once more at the theater before it leaves the big screen.
Don't pay attention to the professional reviews. Remember, they all loved The English Patient, which I personally thought was one of the worst movies of all time.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
