My eight year old grandson and I went to see "Hotel for Dogs" and we both enjoyed it. The story is touching about two siblings who are put in foster care after their parents die. They have a dog named "Friday", also, who their foster parents do not know about. In their attempt to find a safe place for Friday to stay, they come upon this empty hotel, and so the story evolves. Anyone who likes dogs will love this movie.

This kid-flick tries to aim for the heart right away using 2 sure-fire "gimmicks" - sad-eyed dogs and big-hearted orphans. That underlying emotional "plaster" works in this movie and along with the myriad automated hand-built doggie devices they build to occupy the dog's "dog days" the movie holds the attention of adults reasonably well. I chuckled (& groaned) several times. Mostly this movie works for the kiddies (under 12's) and passionate dog lovers that do not mind the nuclear level of anthropomorphic puppies. Harmless and will work well as a rental or purchase for video babysitting.

So glad to see such great movie themes making a come back.......and this one is outstanding!! Great for the entire family...and hopefully will raise awareness of how we need to be caring for our nation's animals.....getting them to safety one at a time and NEVER FIGHT THEM!!!! I took my children and their friends to see this movie. We all enjoyed it very much.
The kids (characters in the movie) can relate to the stray dogs and the compassion and care they show for them will warm any heart. It was a lighthearted movie that had the crowd laughing throughout.

We loved this movie! We took our 7 y.o. daughter and friend, who both felt it was for them, rather than the "babies" most kid movies are made for. Our kids were raving afterward; much more than after the hyped "Bedtime Stories." Also, the movie contained absolutely no violence or scary moments. Of note, you may want to discuss the consequences of breaking the law afterward, as in real life you don't get off so easy.

we took a 4 year old and she laughed alot and cheered for the dogs and clapped when they got set free.............it was a good movie for kids....my only compaint was that it did not need to have a love story and show the teenagers kissing....................it would have been just as good without that part.

Good movie to take the family to. There are some interesting plot twists and touching moments. The many fur-faced characters steal the show, while the two unknown stars will steal your heart. My daughter (10) enjoyed every minute of it. The end of the movie even drew applause and there are some cute pics/videos of cast and crew with their own pets when the credits roll. Take the kids as they all seem to love animals, and especially dogs.

Overall, this movie gets a C+. I thought all of the interaction and special effects regarding the dogs were well done. A+ for the dog trainers. In ConservativeEyes viewpoint, the lessons learned from the children's misbehavior were clear. The brother and sister should not have been man-handled by the police. On another note, beware to bring tear dryers - 3 out of the 4 children I took cried during two scenes; so did I. I'd be interested in reading others opinion. Overall, everything worked out for the best... Dare I say MATINEE!

Took my kids to this movie - they loved it! It was both funny and sentimental. I would definitely buy this one when it comes out. Good for the whole family.

This movie was great for kids to see just how much worth they have in the world, in our society, and in a family. Unfortunately, kids are not always treated with love, value, and worth. The children actors and actressess were wonderful and Don Cheadle is always a joy to watch. The movie talks about creating a family with what you have. We don't always get the family members we would want or the ideal situation but this movie is definitely about making the best of your situation and bringing love into it with the outcome being happiness.

If you like dogs, you will love this movie. There are so many different breeds to make you smile and laugh. It was a great movie for my 8 year old and my husband and I enjoyed it as well.
