I was not expecting much and, perhaps, this is why I was so pleasantly surprised. A movie about how teenage passion and obsession will find a way to "explore the mysteries of the universe". The journey is the movie. There are many off-beat, crazy, weird, darkly humorous "bramble patches" the journey takes us through. Michael Cera is very funny and has become an expert at playing a role that we (the movie-watching public) perceive as being very much like that of the real-life Michael Cera. There are several laugh-out-very-loud moments in this comedy that should exceed your expectations.

I had so many laugh out loud moments watching this movie. People who say it wasn't must have a warped sense of humor. Go see Youth In Revolt, it is very very funny. Well worth the price of admission.

This movie had a good premise, the creation of one's alter ego, but this movie didn't milk it. I laughed the hardest when Francois was on-screen (alter ego) yet he was rarely on-screen. More Francois please, and this movie would be much better!

The main reason I went to see this movie is because my sister has a walk-on role in it, otherwise I would probably have waited to rent it, Now that I've seen it, I would not even rent it. After I wrote my first review, I found the format of MovieTickets is censored, and that I cannot use the word se_ in the review, How ridiculous is that? Maybe I can use the word sensual? However, this movie is in no way sensual. It is silly, sophomoric and caters to those who think potty humor and explosions are entertainment. It is mostly mind-candy. It's good for a few laughs, but if you're looking for any depth in a movie, pass this one up.

First, the title had nothing to do with the movie. I loved the animation within the movie. Generally, the movie was just OK. The Francois character was done clumsily and looked too odd. I understood the idea why Twisp wore high-water pants, but it was unnecessary. The occasional high-water pant would have been fine, but for the entire movie? I wouldn't recommend it to my friends.

For those who read the journals of Nick Twisp the ending was disappointing. Funny regardless. The portrayal of Nick's alter ego Francois was spot on and brilliant; the casting director made a good decision by choosing Michael Cera for the role. I believe it would have been ideal to make a three part movie, like the book because the plot never really had a chance to develop. For those who have not read the book a hilarious cinematic adventure and would recommend to many.
