I think this is one of the best stories I have read in a long while and had hopes of the movie generating the same emotions that the book had... I was slightly disappointed. I did not feel Mr. Pattinson captured the emotions of Jacob as well as he could have. Reese carried him in my opinion. I am sure had I not already read the book, I may have given 5 stars overall.
Maybe I had my hopes set too high for this movie...based on the trailer and the cast, I anticipated something much better. I was also shocked that Will Ferrill or Adam McKay wanted their names on this a producers. I wonder if the best parts of the script were cut in editing.
The characters lacked any substance that would make me even want to pull for them. While the premise might call for gritty characters, it seemed like they took it to the point of being ridiculously scummy.
Did I laugh? Yeah a couple of times, but just at a silly joke or line here and there. Overall, it just wasn't all that entertaining. I will not buy it and I doubt it will end up in my DVD collection as a gift.
I had mixed expectations about this movie going in. It sounded familiar in story line to a Vegas bachelor party movie that was out a few years ago. That one had greatly disappointed me due to its masquerade as a comedy, but was in fact a drama of horrid consequences.
The Hangover did not disappoint, it was hilarious! The cast was believable and well played. We left the theatre laughing and all the way to the parking lot. LOVED IT!!!
