Looking at the group involved in making this, it would be tempting to think this was heading further down the road of Superbad, since many of the same core group of actors was in that movie as well. Instead, this walks the gentler side of the Apatow crew genre, with 40-Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up as it's comedic predecessors. The overall plot vehicle does seem a bit contrived and rehashed, but only because it's a nearly universal experience - almost everyone has gone through a breakup and can relate to some of the experiences in the film. The lead and supporting cast, while familiar faces, do a great job of lifting the movie above the average into an overall very enjoyable movie.

We really enjoyed this movie. There is some bizarre humor and plenty of familiar faces, but the roles they play are different from previous. I think that Russel Brand almost makes the movie. Definitely worth seeing (multiple times).

Forgetting Sarah Marshall was a great comedy and the best from the Apatow group. Although Superbad, Knocked Up and 40 Year-Old Virgin probably had more outrageous laugh out loud moments, Forgetting Sarah Marshall was much more consistent and had subtle moments that become funnier and funnier as you think about them later. Who wouldn't love to see a rock opera reenactment of the life of Dracula starring puppets? Brilliant.

Although there were groan moments, my husband and I laughed through the whole movie. I thought it was better than Knocked Up & I thought the Aldous Snow (Russell Brand)character was hysterical. He knew what he wanted, and was not apologetic for it. He stole every scene he was in. Worth the money if you've enjoyed other movies with Judd Apatow attached.

This was a good movie, though I'd hesitate to place it in the romantic comedy genre. There were enough serious moments that I just don't think it compares (in a good way) to standard rom-com fare. I will say that not all of the emotional twists worked exactly as planned, but at the same time disagreeing with a character's logic/opinions doesn't mean the movie failed in that character--it just means you disagree with that character.
To lighten the mood in some of the serious moments there are great elaborative clips scattered throughout the movie (think Family Guy only shorter in duration and actually linked to the narrative of the story).
Though written in part by Jason Segel this doesn't let him off easy in the film as it becomes clear in the first 5 minutes that he certainly has no problem poking fun at himself.
I am somewhat reminded of Garden State for some subconscious reason. Oh and "The Count" from Sesame Street is going to be ticked to find out Segel ripped off his voice...
Go see it for a funny movie that doesn't allow you to make judgments about the characters as easily as Knocked Up or Superbad.

Take one very "average" looking guy. Make him a little pathetic. And put eccentric people around him and you have the formula for this movie. Filled with lots of silly laughs (and unnecessary full frontal), this movie succeeds in making for a nice evening out with a significant other (assuming that SF enjoyed Knocked Up, Superbad, and Juno). There really isn't anything new and original but the characters' quirkiness and oddball behaviors make it move pretty smoothly. The plot was incredibly predictable. You knew how it was going to end about half-way through the movie. But in these American romantic comedies, don't you always know how it's going to end? If you want to go out and have a few laughs but don't want to need a few drinks to get them, this movie will do the job. It's cute, witty, and just the right amount of moronic.

I took my girlfriend to see this movie. Neither of us liked it. Apatow and Co. are slipping. If you expect to see something with humor as consistent as 40-year-old virgin, then it's a big letdown. Plot is completely predictable. What could have been a very decent romantic comedy was full of predictable filler. Despite a few funny lines, the movie plods its way through to the finish. Some decent supporting roles. Save your time & money and wait for dvd/cable.

Of all the movies to come out from the Apatow entourage in the last few years, I would not say this is the best. However, there are a lot of really funny moments and it is a cute premise. If you are up for just a good night of laughs and you don't set your expectations too high, you will end up really liking this movie.

my husband and I went to see this last night. I thought it was goi g to be really bad, but I was very pleasantly surprised!! This movie was hilarious ..... I needed this type of mindless humor. Yeah it was predictable but we really enjoyed it. Very Entertaining!!

This movie was very funny, and very sweet at times. Jason Segel was very good in the break from TV. Mila Kunis is beautiful beyond compare and worth the price of the ticket alone. I could however have done with a little less than the half dozen full frontal Nude shots Of Jason Segel. NOT appropriate for kids at all!!!
