My friend and I hated this movie. It was depressing and hard to watch. If marriage was really like this, who would bother - I certainly wouldn't! The only positive thing I can say is that DiCaprio did an awesome job - he is a great actor. The theater was full and it was obvious that no one enjoyed it - why do such good actors agree to make this type of movie. Don't get it!

This is a disturbing depection of the life of a young couple in the mid 50's. It really is a roller coaster ride, the tension is palpable between the 2 incredible actors - Leo & Kate. I was very impressed by the staging of the scenes for the time period along with the dress - very accurate. All in all - this movie draws in the viewer & holds their attention thru every intense scene. Very well acted by all parties involved. Not what I expected - but did appreciate.

I liked it!! It wasn't your typical romance movie, it was different. A bit of "realism" if you will. It was depressing, had a glimps of hope here and there. Leo and Kate were exceptional in this movie. Those 2 definitally have a chemistry together for actors. I still think Titanic was better, but all in all, it was a good movie.

I am a 17 year old female and like many others, my favorite movie of all time is TITANIC! So of course I had high expectations for this film, Kate and Leo back together again after over 10 years!! When I saw it, I knew it wasn't going to be all hearts and flowers... but that's what I loved about it, it wasn't a sappy lovestory like so many other movies, it felt real, like their problems are problems that all couples face at some point of a relationship. I thought it was deeply moving and I encourage all 17- up to see it! You will come out of the theatre with a new prospective of what you want to get out of life. What's important and what's not. LOVED it!!

I was quite disappointed in the story line. Yes, the acting was good, but the story is of a very dramatic, disturbed relationship and nothing more. I was left wondering what the point was, aside from the fact that I'm happy this isn't my life.

Disturbing but excellent. Set in the 50's - Kate Winslet's wardrobe alone is worth going to see. The movie is a very realistic portrayal of a smart and beautiful young couple with high expectations of life who, although appearing to be a typical "perfect" couple, actually live on that small fringe of society that is willing to step outside the boundaries set for us by - I don't know who - ourselves, I guess. Thought provoking, sad, but really, really good.

I was suprised by the film. I was definitely expecting something different when I saw the trailers. The performances and direction of the film were certainly great, and they are probably worth seeing the film, but the plot/ story-line was not as "up to par." This was an absolute rollercoaster ride. Touch of depressing realism (which I like) at times but certainly laugh out loud funny as well. Obviously a good cast. No wonder it's tough to find out the story line through the ads for this film. It's truly complex and focused on the psychology of relationships. The screenplay is brilliantly written; this is the best acting I've seen from both DiCaprio and Winslet. The supporting cast is amazing. The direction and camerawork are perfect. I had such high hopes for this film and I found it to be... well, just plain odd. I agree that the acting was fantastic, directing as well. Loved the music. Probably 2 scences that really drew me in. But the rest of the film was just an odd mixture of uncomfortable scenes and situations. I had no idea where this was going. Loved Revolutionary Road. Wonderful, brilliant acting/exchanges between Dicaprio and Winslet and the movie is beautifully shot. For those that loved Todd Haynes "Far From Heaven" you'll get a kick out of some of the film's lighter moments that spotlight the rigid social mores of the 1950s.
And the simple score is beautiful and is up/down tempo'd throughout the film to perfectly fit the mood of each scene. Go see it!

As much as everyone thinks this movie was so great as it discusses all aspects of the human psyche. I think it was rather boring. I just can't say enough good things about this film: the performances by Kate & Leonardo are absolutely PERFECT, BRILLIANT, & DRAMATIC, now THIS is a movie! This is in another class, far away from all the other run of the mill type movies that are out today. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED this movie. Even though it's set in the '50s, what this couple is going thru is still very relevant to for today's couples. Leonardo DiCaprio is an absolutely BRILLIANT actor. His performance in this movie, as an erring but loving & responsible husband is nothing short of an Academy Award Performance, bar none, & I sure hope he gets it, because he deserves it. Movies like Revolutionary Road are few and far in between. I mean this in the sense of the way movies affect me. This is the movie that is perfect for discussion hours after you've seen it because it indeed covers the human psyche in almost perfection. For example, in the lobby, there was a person commenting about a scene where he thought people laughed inappropriately; I was one of those people; here was an opportunity for discussion just about one scene out of so many others. This movie is not likely to get a "best in show" award but Kate Winslet and Leonardo Di Caprio deserve recognition for outstanding acting performances. They personified the conflict between a husband and wife who are torn between love and ambition but lack the guts and gusto to survive either. The plot moves slowly at times but there are some powerful emotional scenes between Kate and Leo that bring out the best acting in both.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Mendes was in his American Beauty form...and he did a terrific job directing this film.
There were solid Performances throughout. DiCaprio in particular was terrific. I'm not surprised that Kate Winslet won the Golden Globe for her performance; but that category was probably weaker than the Leading Male category.
A warning though. The movie is incredibly depressing. I went in expecting it to be depressing; but it even managed to surpass my expectations in that category.
Good movie.

Even after I left the theater this movie left me thinking...It sends out a good message...and I would definitely recommend it to my Fam and Friends.
