Just as the books get increasingly mature, so do the movies. No fire-breathing dragons or exciting quidich games. More mature interplay of the characters. Reasonably faithful to the book in story-line and feel. Tweens and younger might get restless, but pretty engrossing for older viewers who have read the books. If you haven't read the last book, it might suffer from lack of understanding of why things are happening as they do. If you've never even seen a Potter movie, then the whole think would be a puzzlement.

Of the two men in my family, one thought the movie was illogical and the other thought there wasn't enough action. If you look at rotten tomatoes.com, 53% of the male "top reviewers" disliked the movie but only 10% of the female "top reviewers" disliked it. My daughter and I thought that the acting and the emotional relationships expressed in the movie were the best so far in this series and that this movie was the closest of all to the underlying book. What you think about the movie may depend, though, on your gender.

With the exception of a strange, out of place, almost nude makeout scene - the movie was excellent. It followed the book pretty closely.

They break the movie at the perfect spot. I see this being like Rocky and Rocky 2....you loved the first one the first time you saw it....but the next time you just wanted to get to the fight scene.
Deathly Hallows part 2 will be the action packed part....really looking forward to it.

Deathly Hallows Part 1 does a good job of getting through the slowest part of the book without completely boring the audience. While the movie is a much slower pace than it's predesors, the story is well-told and draws you into the dark world of magic at war. This is a great build-up to the finale, and leaves you ready to purchase your ticket for part 2.

I'm so glad they decided to split the last book into two. The first part gives important details that are needed for the resolution for the second part, but not in a way that becomes boring. Interlaced with deep character driven interactions between the trio camping in the wilderness are action scenes and even a bit of humor. All the actors have seriously stepped up their game. Might seem a bit harder to follow for those who have not read the books, and it is not a complete story which may leave some feeling a bit unsatisfied, but as a fan of both the books and movies I found this movie to be the best so far.

For anyone who has read the book, Part I is as true to it as can be. That said, I wonder if someone who has not read it will be able to follow it. Most of our party found the actors hard to understand at times, making following the plot line difficult for them. Damn accents: love and hate them!
This is just a build up for Part II and I can't thank the producers enough for the respect that they afforded the book by splitting it into two parts.

This is the first time I've really liked the movie version of the HP series with this new director. It was almost completely straight from the book... and the parts that were "Hollywood-ized" were quite entertaining and did not take away from the main story. Of course there were things that didn't make the movie cut or were re-arranged to come across better in the movie, but that it to be expected. I really enjoyed it and can't wait for the final movie:)

It had a few "curves" in it...it's a "see again" movie. Harry Potter fans will love to complain to each other about all the details they left out. As usual, there were quite a few. It leaves the non-book readers asking a lot of questions.
It is a great teaser for the second part of the movie. I missed a lot of the vivid characters. Definitely worth the price of a second ticket!

Loved 99% of the movie. The semi-nude scene with Harry and Hermione was unnecessary and added nothing to the movie or the plot, but really good movie overall and I'm looking forward to the next one!

I cannot even begin to express how AWESOME this movie was. There wasn't a moment in the movie I was not feeling some type of emotion, whether it was a feeling of sorrow, joy, curiosity, wonder, anger, or anxiety for what was going to happen next. To tell you the truth, I am 19, I cried like a baby at one part. For a person who has never read the books this movie was easy to follow and clear with it storyline. I would reccomend this movie to every one who has read the books, however to a much older audiance of viewers who have not, because how dark the film truely was. It was also very fast paced! When it was over I was saying, "That can't be it, can it?" But alas ever AMAZING thing must come to an end. Until the next movie!!!

Although it is very hard to capture the key points in a book to bring a movie to life, Knowles, Yates, and Heyman did their absolute best and NAILED every single point. Because Pt. 1 is a build up to pt. 2, i am super excited to go see it again!
