I was thrilled to see the way they did this movie. It had all the important parts that made the book what it what it was. It was funny, action filled, heartbreaking, and endearing and I absolutely cannot wait to see the second enstallment. A must see if you love the Harry Potter universe!

Dumbledores funeral skipped, not in movie. Extremely viable turning point to book series completely skipped, make NO sense to me. Thanks Hollywood for not showing everyone who sees movies that Voldamort enslaves even his followers into submission... you'd know that by reading the funeral in the book. Second the movie quality film wise in the ultra screen in Racine, WI was so out of focus, it was like watching a 3D movie without the glasses, Last flaw, all the good scenes from the trailer are in part two... not cool. This movie was good, but has something missing more than noted above, it just leaves you unsatisfied.

I loved this movie! I have read the books and seen all the movies. Most of the movies left something to be desired adaptation wise, but this one was adapted very well. It probably moved a little fast at the beginning for those who haven't read the books. Like every other movie based on a book, DO NOT read the book right before going to see the movie and you will love it! They took their time telling the story and positioning the viewer to where they can sympathize with the characters. I wish they could have paid enough attention to detail and story for the other movies as they did with this one! Bottom line, I love the books and I LOVED this movie!!

I have read the whole series and have seen all the Harry Potter movies. This didn't let me down. It followed the book very closely and did it well. I didn't want the experience to end and can't wait to see the second part. I don't get to the movies very often but I am so glad that I got to see this one in the theater. Go see it if you are a Harry Potter fan.You won't be sorry.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 1 was definitely a long one to sit through, but it was worth it! ( I can only imagine when Part 2 comes out and you want to sit through the whole things. It'll be around 4-5 hours at least.) I thought they did a great job with it and matched up to the book fairly well. Those who were disappointed in the Order of the Phoenix or Half-Blood Prince will find this movie much better. I would highly recommend seeing this movie to anyone that even remotely seen the first couple.

It felt like the movie would be best enjoyed by 13-year olds, or maybe by hard-core fans. I didn't enjoy it. It had too much long pauses and teenage angst to keep track of the plot. Was there a plot? I certainly wouldn't have understood anything without reading the book.
BTW, IMAX wasn't worth it.

The exclusion of Hogwarts and the gestapo undertones sends the clear message that the lightheartedness of previous installments are history. Because I read the book, I knew what to expect, which was a movie strong in drama and character development and relatively light in action. Another thing for readers to appreciate is that, due to the two parts, very little from the book had to be cut for time. Overall, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is nothing short of satisfying to a devoted fan like me and does the job of getting the tingles going for part 2 in July.

For the devotees of the books, this movie was a faithful cinema experience. One reviewer felt that most of the time in the woods should have ended up on the cutting room floor. The book had the characters in the woods for a long period of the story as well. The events were appropriately condensed for the theatre. Overall, the movie captured the bleak, kind of hopeless tone of the first part of the last book. I agree with the reviewer who suggested that younger viewers be kept home. There were too many scenes that would be disturbing to younger viewers----torture victims suspended in midair, the suggestion of a giant snake about to eat a murdered victim, a severely injured George Weasley, a severely injured Ron Weasley, the Bathilde Bagshott scene, and of course, Helena Bonham Carter as Bellatrix LeStrange, has surpassed even herself in conveying deranged, totally evil, creepiness. The three principal actors, Radcliffe, Grint and Watson have been given their meatiest acting opportunity yet, of all of the Potter films, as has Tom Felton, who ultimately has very little dialogue. I would recommend the film, particularly to Potter devotees who have read all of the books. If you've read books 1-5, perhaps you should read 6 and 7 first, before seeing the movie-----this one doesn't do a good job of "catching up" newer viewers.
You'll risk not knowing what's going on.

The latest movie in the Harry Potter saga can be arguable one of the best Potter movies ever. It takes you from one adventure to the next. The movie is a bit long,but you wont be ready for it to end when it does. This movie attempts to fill in gaps and explain things and still leave you with new mysteries. I think that this was the best of the Harry Potter movies so far. I was skeptical of the intentions behind splitting the last book into two parts, but I loved how close to the book this movie stayed. They hardly left anything out and ended it at the perfect spot. Can't wait until July!

This movie was excellent, even though there were a lot of backstory they didn't explain. I can see why they couldn't fit it all in, but wished they had shown things like the friendship picture on Luna's bedroom ceiling. I think they are definitely using this movie as a set up to the finale next year. This movie encompassed 3/5 of the book...leaving the remaining 2/5 for the epic finale of the 7 book series. I'm sure it won't disappoint!

A well crafted movie. You can tell that the movies are created on a timeline, steadily progressing into darker stages as the series goes on. The same with humor, throughout the course of the entire film, I was never actually compelled to laugh, the whole setting of the movie brings you back into perspective when you're chuckling at a few petty jokes. I was quite surprised at how well they depicted the destructive power of the horcruxes, and how even just one part of Voldemorts soul can cause one character (Ron) so much pain and temptation. I can definetly guarantee, that it was be an amazing way to set the stage for the 2nd part of The Deathly Hallows, and the thrilling conclusion that it will hold. Best wishes to you Harry, and the rest of your future endevours, I look forward to seeing the sequel to this, which is scheduled to come out the 15th of July, 2011.

This one they got right. I did not care too much for the last one. Alot of thrilling moments with a bit of fear mixed in. I took my 11 yr old son and he really like it until the end of the movie. I can't wait 6 months for the next one.

After reading and re-reading all the books many times, it is hard to find the same enchantment in a movie. However, out of all the Potter movies, this one seems the closest. All three "kids" are now great actors (and actress). They are very convincing and mature, especially Rupert Gint, who has come a long way. The cinematography is amazing. Well worth seeing in the theater.
It was faithful to the book, so no surprises.
