A few times it was a little slow which is why I give it 4 out of 5 stars. Otherwise I was pleased to see the movie was very true to the book. Great special effects, scenery and costumes.

The Harry Potter movies are addictive, once you see one, you can't wait for the next one! I was a little concerned about some of the facts being flipped in chronological order from the book, but in the end I was extremely satisfied the way the movie fit them all together leading into the finale. Some of the loose ends from the previous movies are tied up nicely as well. The evidence that the quality of every Potter movie has held up to the test of time is in the packed theaters every time a new one comes out. I will go back and see it again and again as long as it is in the theater simply because I can't get enough of it and can't wait until it comes out on DVD. I feel like these characters are a part of my family because I've watched them grow up. We have watched the Potter movies so many times and they still evoke strong emotions even when I know what is going to happen next. Deathly Hollows part 1 continues the tradition of this series and brings the characters close to your heart once again. I do have to admit that when the snake came at Harry it made me jump and yell, just like most everybody else who was in the theater. LOVED IT!

Really? This movie was simply terrible. I fell asleep 5 times during it, and each time I woke up, I wished I wouldn't have. Maybe I just don't get the whole "Hi I'm Harry Potter and it's not cute anymore because I'm like 30" thing...?
Wish I would have gone to see something else, but I was pre-screening this for my daughter to make sure it was okay for her to see. PLEASE give me that 2 1/2 hours of my life back!

I have to say that I'm always really thrilled with the Harry Potter movies; however, I was a tad disappointed in this movie because it was a trifle slow. I would recommend it to any Harry Potter fan. I can't wait until the next chapter. It's too bad we have to wait so long.

They did a good job of triaging what made the movie and what didn't from the book. I also think that the point they chose to finish the movie is perfect to set-up an action packed Part 2.

It was great! It stayed with the storyline and moved along at a good pace. The interaction between Harry, Ron and Hermione was very intense at moments and sad at others. You can see how much the characters have grown and changed and are definately coming into their own. The only thing I was surprised at was the ending. It just stopped! Not sure how I would have handled it, but that through me.

Very amazing and glad now that they cut it into 2 parts. There's alot from the book in this one and you can actually tell what's happening if you haven't read the series.
A lot darker than the others, and I definatly would not recommend you taking your young kids to this movie. I even jumped at certain parts.
Overall great movie. Great action!

This movie was AWESOME not like I expected it not to be!!! Adventure enough for the kids and drama enough for me. I love Harry Potter. I took my nephew for his birthday and he now wants a wand and clothing. I might dress up with him. My daughter is only 10 months and I am putting the DVD set together for her to love as well.

From the very first few minutes the movie has you mesmerized with what is going on. It pulls you in and never stops. I haven't read the books but I was with friends who had and they said the movie was just as good as the book. The movie has it all action, comedy, emotion and drama. Great, great movie. Can't wait for part 2.

Seen 'em all and this is, by far, the best one, filled with unceasing action and suspense. However, I'd be a bit cautious with the younger children seeing the film in that, obviously, the characters are now post-puberty and the film strongly reflects this "growing up." Harry Potter with hormones, to be sure. Still, an exciting and suspenseful film deserving of praise.

WOW! Another awsome movie that stays with you long after the movie is over. My son and his friend, both 8, could hardly sleep that night after the movie. It was hard for them to see beloved characters lose their lives in the movie but they are eager to see if good will prevail....can't wait till next summer 2011!
NOT for children under 6, too many scary and grownup situations. Two wands up!

Overall, I was very disappointed in the movie. Perhaps they would have been better off to show the last book in one movie and edit it down to show only the salient parts. They took out so much of the content of the last book that this movie felt like only a preview or filler material. People who haven't read the books or seen the other movies won't be able to follow the storyline because too much was left unsaid.
At the other Harry Potter movies I've been to, the audience stood and clapped at the end of the movie. At this one, when the end came, the audience let out a big "Awww!" of disappointment and trickled wordlessly out of the theater. I think this will go down as the least profitable of the Harry Potter movies. I saw some of the other HP movies multiple times while they were at the theater but once was enough for this one.
At least the popcorn was good so it made it worthwhile to go to the movies.

This was a really great movie. One of the best so far. It moved right along and hardly every slowed down. This movie is definitely not for the younger child, as the early movies were. As the characters have got older, the scripts have been upgraded for the young adults. Can't wait for Part 2 to come out!!

We all know how much hollywood will change movies no matter what, it would be sort of boring to have the movie go EXACTLY by the book...I think they did a fantastic job with this one! They put in so much of the book I was pleasantly surprised. It didn't feel like the 2hr movie it was, and can't wait until the next one comes out, I only hope they finally put Peeve's into it.

This film covers the first half of the last book in the Harry Potter series. As such, it is a very dark tale, full of physical and psychological torture, death, and despair. Its few happy moments are tempered by the sense of impending doom. It breaks free of the standard Potter formula of starting each school year at Hogwarts, opting instead for Harry and friends' flight from the forces of Voldemort. This film is far too intense for young children; I'm honestly surprised it managed to keep a PG-13 rating.
The movie was very well done; beautifully filmed, excellent special effects, music which intensified each scene. The cast has grown admirably in skill over the past decade, with the main three cast members especially standing out--as well they should, since the burden of carrying the emotion of the story fell on their shoulders. The "Deathly Hallows" interlude was very well animated, bringing to mind "A Nightmare Before Christmas" in its stylized designs. The movie was a perfect illustration of despair; as such, I wouldn't recommend showing it to anyone younger than seventeen.

This movie would be a 5 star if I hadn't read the book. I think to much was trimmed and it worries me how much will be left out in the second half of the movie. I really wished they pushed it to 3hrs I think the extra 30 mins. would have be instrumental in getting as much as the story in as possible.

I do not remember the book, sad to say, it's been a while since i've read it. watching the movie reminded me what was going to happen. the only negative thing i can say is that there was no history with some of the characters, Bill and Mandungus... also, i thought the very beginning was a bit confusing. i had to think really hard about what happened at the end of the last movie to remember what was going on, i almost think they should have reminded us that the 3 were not going to hogwarts instead of just umping into the story line.

HP7 does not disappoint. The previous reviews which point out the depth of H, H & R's characters are right on. From laughter, to fear, anger, and sorrow (and everything in between), it's all there, portrayed beautifully. It seemed like the movie went further into the story than expected, which leaves room for a lot more detail in the final installment. Loved this movie, and will definitely buy the DVD.

We read all the books with our son and have watched the movies together. It was a good family activity.
This movie is for fans who understand what is going on. It would be very confusing to someone being exposed to the story previously.
I loved the dance sequence in the tent -- not in the book, but definitely expressed the emotional connections and vulnerability of the characters.

Great action and intensity, but I think non-Potter readers might have a bit of trouble following this one since it didn't reitterate exactly what the Horcruxes (or why so significant). Some very impressive acting - these three have come a long way. Excellent animation and storytelling for the 3 Brothers. Great humor - several spots when most of the audience laughed out loud.
We splurged on the DBOX seats - that was a great ride!!
