This movie was wonderful! As a fan whose listened to all the books on CD, I really felt like I'd seen this movie before! It really kept to the book which always makes a movie more enjoyable if you've read the book.

Excellent movie!! Because they split this one into two movies, I think we got a lot more of the book in this first movie! They hardly cut anything from the book. It was great! Too bad they didn't decide to do this with all the movies. I can't wait to see it again!!!!

This movie is extremely well made and true to the book.
For those of you who read the books - can you believe we have to wait til July? The second half is so awesome! The first half is pretty melancholy but needed... there is no way they could have stayed true to book 7 in just one movie.
For those of you that have only seen the movies and not read the books, please know that you need to watch the 2nd half to really understand what is all going on and the signifigance of everything that happens, not only in Part one of 7, but in all the books. JK Rawling knew how the books were going to end when she started them, and it's truly genius the way everything works out. Nothing is just thrown in like a scooby-doo ending, everything is relevant and makes sense.
I absolutely loved it, and actually want to see it again.
Hooray for Harry Potter!!!!!

My wife and I really enjoyed this film. We both said we could have sat there for another two and a half hours to see part 2. I felt the story line followed the book much better than some of the last films. There were still things left out that I thought should have been in the film. BUT WOW what a great film. We were both really moved at the ending with Dobbies final moments. My hats is off to the Stars, Directors, and Producers who gave us another wonder film. Thanks again to all.

The books totally ruins the movies for me because the books are so incredible regarding plot and character development. I know I'm not comparing apples to apples here but I always hope that the movies will come close to the excellent writing from the books. Oh well. Overall, Deathly Hallows Part 1 was a good Potter fans entertainment.

I just finished reading the books about a month ago, so I was so excited to see this movie and I was NOT let down! There are some things in the book I wish they would have put in the movie, but that's the way it usually goes. I enjoyed every minute of this movie! 2 1/2 hours never went by so quickly in my life! I will see this movie again in the theaters, and when it comes out on DVD, I'll buy it, just like the other 6 movies!

What's not to love about HP movies. I am a diehard fan. The only thing better would be if I had written the books. I loved the scenery, the characters and the relationships. The children have grown now. I never want it to end. I did not need my Kleenex yet as some others, but I definitely know I will for Part II. I love opening night and/or weekend. The audience is always amazing and really into it. Like when I read the books, I never wanted it to end and I want it to go on and on and on...

The movie started off with great adventure but did slow down a little but that is expected based on the fact that so much happens in the next half. I certainly will be standing in line to watch the last half in July. I wish it could be sooner but you can't rush greatness.

Wish I went by myself though, I was glad to have a ride home because I was a mess afterwards.
In July I am going by myself or with a true Harry fan because everyone I have talked to that didn't like the movie, has not read any of the books.

This is a great movie. Even though I think the seventh book should have been released in one film like the others, I am pleased that this first part was so well done. I did not like the sixth movie at all (lack of story flow and ruining the ending), so this has redeemed Yates. The most important part of the redemption is sticking to the book this time around. Additionally, the level of detail allowed by splitting the movie into two parts (I have to admit) only enhanced the production, especially for H.P. junkies. I found myself draw in at all points, even during slower sequences, and as always, the actors were superb. Well done! I can’t wait for part two, but then what will I do with no more new Harry Potter movies to look forward to? Sadly, it will be the end of an era.

I kind of like that it is a two parter because this enabled the producers to follow the book quite well. I'm thinking it was great to see the characters getting older but not so sure about my seven year old son watching the plot becoming older too (more for mature audiences). Didn't know you could have nudity, so much violence, blood and death and still be rated PG 13!? I don't even remember the apparition of the nude embrace scene in the book, will have to read again! ;0)
Although each movie seems to be filmed more darkly, this one was way so! Really hard to see what was going on in the first ambush scene; the night they moved Harry!
Really enjoyed the computer graphics during the telling of the Deathly Hallows Fable. Was Tim Burton consulted. LOL!
Feel the cliff hanger part of the first half of the movie was right on! Can't wait till next summer to see the end of the triology unfold on the big screen!

Loved It Loved It Loved it!!!!! Best one so far in my eyes. I loved that this one stayed as true to the book as possible.. what was left out so far is fine... I am on pins and needles for the 2nd part to see how it is done.. I am sad that it is ending but MAN was it a great ride!!!!!!!

They really have made up for the previous movies, although they were wonderful in their own ways; Deathly Hallows captured all of the wonderful scenes that we had imagined springing forth from the books.
We got to relive the sadness, the joys and it somehow augmented the experience from the book onto the movie screen. Everyone's acting was just amazing and the laughter was just enough to give usmoments to breathe as the war got on the way.
Will definitely go back to watch again.

As I sat at the end crying for a house-elf, it occurred to me how terrific the storytelling and the effects were to make me feel such a connection with a story that we knew before we walked in. People of all ages and backgrounds enjoyed the movie together through laughter, intensity, and tears. Performances, effects, and story passed the tension, fear, and glimmers of hope to the audience that carry through this story.

They stuck pretty close to the story line for this one. Only one MAJOR departure, but it can be fixed pretty easily, but if they don't have the dragon, then they will have to make more MAJOR story changes. I know it's hard, but come one, at least try to stay close.
The theater I went to must have cut part out, the movie was advertised as 2hrs and 30 minutes, the one I went to was only 2hrs and 18 minutes. Maybe they count the credits. I did see it twice, at different theaters, and the length was the same.

For one I cannot believe how accurate this movie was to the book. I could predict the next scene as the movie was going on cause it followed all major scenes in book. Hands down to the director.. Lets hope part two is the same.
