Relatively Satisfying

Just as it was in the beginning of the book the action is brief and intense, and the traveling scenes in the tent around the countryside were long and drawn out. The buildup to the final movie was not as exciting as I had hoped. I actually found myself looking at my watch during the movie. There is a lot left to do in the final movie and I hope they do not cut a lot like they have with the other movies. But I will see this movie again and I will be there for the final movie, I hope it lives up to expectations, this one did not.

Most Detailed of ALL HP Movies

I've read all the books and loved all the movies, but this movie is by far the greatest! It has so many of the details from the book. The movie is 2 1/2 hrs long, and it really did not feel like it was that long.
Daniel, Rupert, and Emma did a wonderful job bringing out the HP characters to life, outside of Hogwarts. They were not the little kids learning spells, but young adults fighting a war.
The details and graphics were outstanding!!! I'm one of those people that can see the littlest mistakes, but I found NONE (yes...I've seen it TWICE).
I recommend this movie to anyone, even the HP "haters". It's nothing like the other movies.

It's been several years since I read the book, so the story was fresh and kept me enchanted from start to cliff-hanger ending.
Great timing on the ending.
The aerial photography left me breathless.
I went with my son, Jason--age 41. He likes to sit up front. It felt like we were on those mountain tops.
I'm glad that we didn't see the 3-D version when that snake reached out to bite off my head!
Alas, I want to go see it in 3-D. After the entire series of movies are in a boxed set, I'll buy it and enjoy the stories once more.
I have the entire set of books.
Love the magical enchantment of Harry's coming of age story. I can forget my daily challenges and escape to another world.

I think the Harry Potter movies series is just excellent and Deathly Hollows Part 1 is no exception. While there are some potentially slow parts of the movie, even they captivated, at least for me. Plenty of very funny parts in the movie. This continues the trend of portraying a bit darker side of the story.

Can't wait for finale!

Another Fantastic HP Movie!

If you are looking for a great movie, but find it hard to pick a good movie from a sea of so-so movies that have come out....THIS WILL NOT DISAPPOINT YOU! This movie was great...and just what I expected.

Before seeing the movie I had heard critics say that the movie was too confusing for those that have not seen the Harry Potter movies or more importantly for those that only saw the movies and did not read the books. I would just like to point out first that what is so wrong with craking open a book and reading now a days...not our fault they don't want to read.

As for the movie, I found it classically fantastic as far as what I was expecting. I have read all of the Potter books as well as watched all of the movies. Looking at the movie objectively, I did not at all find it hard to follow. I feel that if you have watched the Potter movies, you will more than understand what is going on. I think critics often times under-estimate their audience, and is often times not a true guage of the general belief of a movie anyway.

So if you are looking at showtimes and nothing strikes your fancy as good...this will not dissapoint you. This is a MUST SEE for any Harry Potter fan. If you are a parent (as I am as well as a fan) and your kids are bugging you to see Harry Potter, this will not dissapoint you.

Be aware however, if you have very young one you want to take, there is one scene that is not necessarily nude, but close and has kissing (making out type). While this may not be a concern for some parents, it may be for others. The scene doesn't last long. It is pretty quick, if you want to take them but don't want them to see it...cover their eyes for a brief moment.

This has been so far a very good adeptation of the final installment of the JK Rowlings epic adventure!

When I saw this movie I was like what!!! I didnt like the first hp because he was all like I'm 11 years old and my parents are dead somebody cry for me please and I was like no way little boy no way but anyway. This movie instead of crying he had stuble, he was tough, and he was seven years older than the first movie so that made it better for me. Plus this movie is intended for more mature people with the stuff it deals with and I liked that because I am more mature than most people. I would give this movie 7 stars out of 5 if I could but amc will not let me.

As someone who has read the entire series I felt this movie very true to the last book. Although there is less action and less theatrical effects it is the story which is to take the center of importance. Some viewers may miss scenes from Hogwarts and this is definitely a darker more somber movie which is exactly as the book is told - dark times and not a lot of happiness and a great amount of fear. Looking forward to the final movie and yet will be sad when it is over!

I saw this on opening weekend. I would honestly say it was better then the last 6. As usual there were some important scenes missing, but not as many. Yates decided to add a few extra scenes too. A lot more story than action in this one.

The entire movie keeps you on edge to see what happens next. The effects are amazing. It's great for kids and adults.Thus, the so called "nude scene" is just Potter and Emma kissing, it's all digital, barely any skin and nothing obscene revealing. So, with this said I can't wait for the final masterpiece !!

They did a great job sticking to the book with this one. There were some parts I would have done differently but they did awesome. Sad that I have to wait 8 months for the second part but as long as they make it as good as this one then I guess I can deal.

Good for Fans

This movie is part one of two so a majority of it is a setup for the epic conclusion of the book series of a decade. Many people do not like the movie because it is slow and less action filled then the others but true fans will enjoy how closely the book resembles the movie as well as the reappearance of previous characters.

The book series understandably grows dark as we build to the battle of good versus evil but I thought this film had plenty of emotion and even comedy to keep it upbeat and have the audience asking for more.

People upset about the nudity obviously don't watch primetime TV because they get away with and show more then there was in this film.

I am glad this film was not done in 3D as it was not needed and I am counting the days to the conclusion!!!

This was the best Harry Potter movie to date. The cleared up many of the loose ends from the last movie very quickly, and handled the transitions in the book well. I can't think of one moment of the movie that I disliked. I was so into the movie I couldn't tell how much time had passed. It was excellent!!!!

Great Movie!!.....Overall I think the movie flowed very well. Although on a somewhat narrow path. Not much else going on besides the main character story lines. It would have been nice to have a little more secondary story telling, but i understand there's just so much that can be put on the screen from the book in the time alotted. Still i am very pleased and can't wait for July and Part 2.

The first part of the last Harry Potter book turned movie was, like the book, dark. It did drag in spots, but there was a lot of information to convey, and the book dragged in spots. The visuals were stunning and, given that it's likely that most everyone in the theater had read the book, the fact that we were all so into the story that we jumped or screamed at several points is, in my opinion, evidence that we were drawn into the story. The effects were stunning, the cinematography was incredible. Overall, highly recommended. I might go see it again at the theater and that's something I almost never do.

Harry Potter is back on track

After the disaster that was Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince (I apparently only needed to see the last 10 minutes, too bad I sat in the theatre for 2 hours and 23 minutes bored out of my skull) I was hoping that they wouldn't screw up the last two movies. And just for the record, this movie rocked. Almost exactly like the book, Deathly Hallows Part 1 was absolutely fantastic. There were only a few scenes in the book that I thought could have been done a little better in the movie but overall I couldn't have asked for a better adaptation of the last book (1st part at least). I plan on seeing this movie again in the theatres (awesome on the big screen) and can't wait for part 2!

One of the Better Potter Films

It's very dark, serious, sad, and long. The characters are much more mature and the actors playing them have obviously benefited from years of playing those characters. The acting and character development have improved greatly. The score and the production are I think what made it one of the better films. The music was well written and made the film that much more moving and important! The production was better because of the many film locations and realistic-looking, special effects. Overall, this ranks up there with #3 & #4, but the story line will be much more interesting in part 2 of the Hollows.

Part 1 of Deathly Hallows is incredible. The feel of this Harry Potter movie is much more darker than previous films. This adaptation from book to film is,in my opinion, the best crossover that a fan of the books has seen on screen. And lets not forget the cliffhanger to part 1 is a great choice. July 15th can't come soon enough!

The Deathly Hallows Part 1 was excellent! They did a good job of including all the crucial parts of the book. Some aspects were a little different, but they weren't significant. It's a beautifully made film and, even if you didn't read the book, I'm sure you'll love it. Part 1 definitely did justice to the Harry Potter film legacy. Can't wait for Deathly Hallows Part 2!
