You have to realize up front, this movie is WAY over the top. It's supposed to be! Have fun. Laugh. It's a total gross out. Lot's of boobs. But, hey, once in a while - why not? Me and my husband loved this movie. I have watched the old Piranha movies in the 80's and this was by far much better. My hubby has never seen a movie in 3D so this was very good to him. He said it would have been nice to have more 3D parts though. Like having some of the Pirahna's in 3D. But overall we loved it. I jumped probably 15 times during the movie. It was great!!!

IF you like Anaconda, the Deep Blue Sea and Lake Placid you will NOT be disappointed in this horror comedy! My husband and I laughed throughout the entire movie (along with many of the theatre audience). IF there was a choice for the script writers to go between "the logical choice" and the "the crazy choice", they always went the insane way. We loved this movie and will add it to our collection of "unbelieveably stupid but FUN" movies!

I'm sorry I didn't walk out on this porno masquerading as a rated R movie. It was just disgusting. I expected something campy and fun like the original. Instead it was basically a "Girls Gone Wild" video with some nasty fish. I felt deceived into thinking it would be a good old fashioned creature movie. This movie was exactly what it was supposed to be... CAMPY. Great supporting cast, terrific gore, characters you cared about, a very ugly villainous fish school, and the perfect ending. If you are looking for an intellectual pursuit, look elsewhere, but if you are looking to just escape the world for 90 minutes, this is the perfect destination.

I will admit, I was immediately won over by the, sadly short, cameo by Richard Dreyfuss. It's not a masterpiece...but it's not intended to be. It's graphic, gory, and often very naked--- three elements which may not add up to the perfect movie...but do add up to some great, and very entertaining, entertainment, The cast is strong, the 3D lot's of fun, there's a delightful appearance by Christopher Lloyd, and the script is sturdy enough to sustain its 90 minute run time. What more does one need out a fun, summer movie romp?

You must know what to expect - simply from the title, posters and "genre" of this B movie "skin & scare" flick! Anyone complaining that this movie lacks substance and/or intricate plot and dialogue should quit missing their therapy appointments. In the realm and style of this type of B movie - Piranha 3D gets an A-. There are holes in the story and plot - everywhere - but that's just not the point. The movie succeeds exactly where it wants and needs to succeed - scary evil prehistoric glutenous Piranha ..... blood and gore under the water - attacking innocent, beautiful, nubile young women and men as they frolic on school break ..... 2D plot with decent 3D effects .... familiar stars in supporting roles to give just a little heft .... and even a somewhat surprising final scene! If you just go with the flow you will likely enjoy this 3DB movie.

This movie delivered everything I expected. A very nice addition to the Joe Dante/Roger Corman 1978 camp fest. Expect lots of boobs, blood and total ridiculous cameos from some great actors like Richard Dreyfus, Christopher Lloyd and Eli Roth. I started laughing with the very first scene...a nice homage to Jaws with Dreyfuss singing his famous sailor song...and didn't stop until the very last scene. My stomach hurt from so much laughing! Don't expect to be scared, don't expect Oscars...this is pure B horror. Nothing more, nothing less. And I had a blast!!!!

This has to be the worst movie I have ever seen. There is NO substance, the characters are shallow and the dialogue is lacking. The director must think people are too stupid to realize that the only thing meant to keep the audience’s attention is boobs and blood. In this movie you will experience the Double B's: blood and boobies. After enough shots of young people in bathing suits dancing on boats to hip music, the actual action is yes, jump-in-your-seat worthy but also fake-looking and pornographic. Overall a decent monster movie. It's a typical Alexandre Aja movie: great tension and often going for the shock factor over trying to make the audience jump, but it definitely retains the original's campy spirit. Skip the 3D version though, this is another spotty aftermarket 3D conversion that looks decent in some shots, and completely non-existent in others.

Forget the horrible 3D conversion, the lack of decent writing, the script continuity issues (Elizabeth Shue getting out of the lake sopping wet one minute and completely dry in the next shot) and the relentless college students jumping up and down to house music on boats in a corner of the lake....this movie's worst offense? It's BORING. Nothing happens for the first 70 minutes that's even remotely interesting, and by the time you see a CG severed penis get eaten by a Piranha in 3D right in front of your face, then burped back out, the reaction is less revulsion and fear than "Really? That's the best you could do?"
Complete. Waste. Of. Time.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Lots of good actors in a surprisingly weak film. Of course, I didn't except much - but the film didn't even follow its own internal rules...Who was filming the para-sailing girl? That little side bar made no sense at all. Why did the fish sometimes devour people to the bone and sometimes just nibble them till they died leaving all that good meat? And some of the sheriff's choices are really dumb. Dumb even for a movie like this. And oddly with all the obvious and admiring nods to Jaws the filmmakers had apparently never watched it. The true beauty of Jaws is its perfect structure. Piranha has no structure at all. And the campy laughs are few indeed. But it is always good to see Ms. Shue at work...We need to see her more.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I wouldn't take ANY child to see it, but it was what it was. I jumped in my seat a few times.

From the previews and movie posters alone, you know what to expect from this movie. Complete mindless entertainment that's a take from B-drive-in-movie fun. There's lots of blood, nudity and FX. Enough to keep you laughing and on the edge of your seat.
